Celtics Fans and Scalabrine Poll, A white Thing?
Whats Up with The Celtics Crowd and Brian Scalabrine. I am going to get to the point. Is It because the crowd at a Celtics game is largely white and Scal is the only white guy on the team. What else can it be. I mean he doesn't play a lot. He didn't make a huge play ala P.J. Brown in critical game at a key moment in a playoff game last year. I know he has a great personality and likes to joke around alot, but is that it. I think not. Hey I have no problem with it but it is funny how these things get started. Now how did it get started is there some secret thing among white people that put them all on the same page with this. That's assuming its a white thing. What do you think. lets see how long it lasts.
I set up a poll to find the reason behind the crowd reaction to Brian Scalabrine at the celtic games. Is it a white thing, or is it something else

Maybe
I think it has something to do with his race, but it couldn’t be just any white guy. It helps that Scal is a big pasty red head with a goofy personality.
Big brother no longer needs to watch, because the world is convinced he is.
The Waterboy
Putting Scal in the game is a lot like playing the waterboy – you know he stinks, but you gotta pull for him because he clearly loves the team and the game.
This message brought to you by a former Scal hater.

I agree that the crowd is mocking him not cheering him. somehow he thinks he’s the fan favorite. I don’t get that from listening to it on tv and having been at some games in person. IF they were cheering him to the exclusion of the other players then I suppose you could make the jump and say the crowd only likes the white player but again I’ve always thought it was a derisive chant and not a sign of love.
I don't think it's a white thing, but I don't like it either way
I can’t speak for everyone that does the chants, but in my opinion, I don’t think it’s a white thing as much as the people view Scal as a horrible player, and while some may feel like the chant is a way to cheer for Scal, it’s really just patronizing him. If you’ve ever been a part of a team, either in high school, college or whatever, you’ve probably come across the same thing. I remember a player on my brother’s high school basketball team. He was tall, lanky and uncoordinated. When the games were almost over and the win was in hand, the fans would chant his name, and everyone would go crazy if he made a basket. Now this kid happened to be white, but I remember another case where it was a black kid. But he was tall, uncoordinated and a bad player too. That’s what it speaks more too, IMO. It’s the bad players who are being mocked by his teammates, and moreso, the fans.
It’s more of a somewhat goofy, guy next door thing whom, on occasions, hits a key three, hustles, gives up his body response, for most…and the rest are just idiots…for those that pay attention Scal is not terrible..I can’t explain it …but…he is strangely effective..just go back and watch his start against the Knicks….
It's not white, it's red
I don’t think it’s a white thing, I think it’s a red haired thing, the big goofy white dude with the fiery top stands out. I know lots has been said the last few days but he’s looking like Jersey Scal for the time being, it’s not as if that’s a tough billing to live up to, hopefully he keeps it up, he gets a fresh start with me, I wish everyone would just give it up and give the guy a chance now that he’s finally giving himself one.
