Lebron is acting like Spree
Is it just me or does LBJ not sound just like Sprewell when he said he has to do whats best for him and his family, does that not sound like Spree saying I have to feed my family. I love LBJ's game but I lost a lot of respect for him to make a comment like this during the beginning of the season when your team is 8-2. Also the Cavs did spend the money and bring in Mo Williams and offered Mcdyess $5 million a year today. I think if LBJ wants to go down as one of the greats like Bird, MJ, and Magic then he needs to stay with the Cavs for his career. LBJ is to hip hop at not enough heart and love for the game. He wants to be a celeb and not a basketball star. With all that talent he has and the loyalty the Cavs have shown to him he should stay and keep building the Cavs. Once the big three are gone from the C's he will run the East. Come on LBJ don't chase the money and make comments as dumb as Spree's. The way I see it the $200 mil the cavs can give you should take care of your family for the next 20 generations
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

High tail it
It’s seems like I’m pretty alone in my non purist attitude around here, but who gives a damn about Cleveland? That’s why contracts expire, so you can go where you want. It’s not as if there’s a mystique or aura about Cavs. They haven’t surrounded him with top notch talent, they’ve been mix matching since the day he got there, that’s the last type of organization a stud like Lebron should be playing for. Some athletes deserve to be in a huge market, Shaq going to LA is a prime example. Basketball being the paramount thing in his life is an unrealistic notion that only us fans are naive enough to run with, most of the players seem to be pretty accepting about it, guys like KG are the exception, not the rule. MJ, Tiger, Beckham and now Lebron, some guys deserve celebrity status beyond the game. As long as he gets better every year and leaves it all on the floor at the end of the day he’s doing what he’s paid to do. I say good for him and his family no matter where he decides to go.

I lost respect for Lebron a couple of years ago when he said he wanted to be the richest athlete in the world. Sounds really selfish to me that a guy already with multi millions doesn’t feel he has enough money.

I dont think its fair to really compare what Lebron said to what Spree said. I am by no means a Lebron fan, I think he’s a crybaby. But when I hear that quote from Lebron, it just sounds like him saying when a decision has to be made, Im not gonna do what the city of Cleveland, my sponsors, or what any other person tells me I should do, Im gonna sit down with my family and make a decision about whether we want to stay here or if my family would be comfortable living elsewhere. Thats all that sounds like to me. Saying Im gonna do whats best for me and my family doesnt necessarily mean money, it could lots of other things.
I know one things for sure, if I was an NBA player, there is no chance on gods green earth you could ever get me to play in Utah, or some other NBA cities.
You could be right and the motive for everything with Lebron could be money, but that quote doesnt scream it like Spree’s did.

big @$$ hose
he did just built a monsterous mansion, and its not like many celebs will flock to cleveland and purchase this house, i think he stays too, the cavs have to offer him something absurd but they will do it because its in their best interest. Think the bulls would let mj go? or the celtics let bird go? or the lakers let magic go?
he will stay, and if he doesn’t stay its because cleveland spent the money on someone else (another guy from the 03 draft class)

The Cavs don’t have to offer LeBron anything absurd. All they have to do is offer him a long-term, MAX extension, which any team would. If LeBron bolts Cleveland, it won’t be because their contract offer wasn’t up to par. The Cavs will be able to (and will) offer him more money than any other team can. But what it will come down to for LeBron is the chance to win and the chance to increase his legacy and empire, not necessarily (actually, most definitely not) in that order of importance to him.

Interesting read…as far as money is concerned it’s all about Nike..and NYC is the place to be but, is Lebron’s value being hurt by his extra carricular actions on the court and what seems to be a serious lack of media savy (which is very Spree like)?…
