Cut Scalabrine

Not only is this guy a waste of a roster spot, whenever he gets on the floor he hurts the team.  He can't shoot, can't pass, can't defend.  What is he even in there for?  I totally don't understand how a scrub like Scalabrine can induce 'Scalabrine' chants in the Garden.  Are we that desperate for a white player that we're going to stay behind Scalabrine all the way?

Most minimum wage NBA players are better than Scalabrine and don't count for nearly as much against the cap.  Get rid of him any way that you can.  He's only hurting the team at this stage of the game.  Scalabrine is NOT a helpful factor for a championship caliber team.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I’ve predicted during the pre-season that Scal would play situational minutes, and that’s happening. And if some guys don’t step up, he can be an integral part of the 8/9 rotation at some point during the season.

I understand this blog would go on flames, but I’m yet to read an intelligent alternative. “Scal sucks and he sucks because he sucks” doesn’t cut it for me. Most anti-Scal rants are pure hate, from people so clueless about basketball that they thought that Miles was cut just because his contract wasn’t guaranteed. I’d be glad if the C’s had a strong enough bench to make Scal expendable, but the truth is that we’re very far away from that situation.

The chants are indeed a disgrace, but strictly because they are a mockery. Btw, the racial slant you make is unwarranted and has nothing to do with basketball.

wow, vjsmoke, that is one of the worst posts I have ever seen on this site. How to show off your ignorance.

props to Cordobes for speaking the truth about the situation, nice reply. The chants at the Garden need to stop, show some class and support your team.

nice work celticsblog community for setting vj straight.
1. if you watch him without a predetermined mindset to point out everything he does wrong, you’ll see that he’s not that bad
2. who do you want to see instead? if you think scal plays no defense watch bill walker
3. if we cut him we’d lose his contract which is our only hope of bringing in a vet big or pg

i agree with everything you say except “if you think scal plays no defense watch bill walker”.

the kid is a rookie who has played a minimum amount in the PRESEASON.

but regardless, enough scal hate. why would they cut someone who has no negative affect on the team? he’s on a limited role and he seems to be a good veteran presense. sometimes his play is shakey but he played very solid minutes last year when KG was injured. he’ll prove his worth by seasons end.

he ha a good year the year before the Celtics signed him, but it was obviously downhill from there. but he acts as a assistant at times. Like last year when he stopped pierce from getting ejected

cut scal..

The Question is:
How many minutes has given to him to play every ballgame and expect a productive output?

I think any player who will have a 10 mins or less to play in every ball game cannot produce what people are expected for him. As in those whole minutes, hes lucky just to have a maximum 3 position of the ball. I think even KG or PP or Ray Allen cannot give what we expected in very limited minutes as they are playing 5-5 not 1 on 1. I think Doc must give those player more time to see how they can truly perform on real ballgame.

Well, the first post was ridiculous...

but to you cordobes…

“"Scal sucks and he sucks because he sucks" doesn’t cut it for me. Most anti-Scal rants are pure hate, from people so clueless about basketball that they thought that Miles was cut just because his contract wasn’t guaranteed.”

Well, then you haven’t been reading. Scalabrine’s biggest asset when he signed with the C’s was his ability to stretch the floor with his shooting. Too bad he hasn’t shot the ball well in recent years. So then what else is he offering on the floor? He’s a big man who is a terrible rebounder. His team defense has severely declined in the past two years. He sets good picks, I guess? Add in the fact that he’s a vet minimum player getting paid millions of dollars per year, and you are questioning why so many posters on the blog criticize Scal?

" from people so clueless about basketball that they thought that Miles was cut just because his contract wasn’t guaranteed."

Please get off your high horse. If you don’t think the decision to cut Miles was made easier because he had a non-guaranteed contract, who’s the clueless one?

The first post was over the top and unnecessary.

Scalabrine

Let;s face it Scal as Tommy H would say is terrible “Period”.

I don’t understand why he is in the 10 man roration unless we need to showcase his sub-par play to trade him for a peck of potatoes.

I always thought the Waltah was limited in ability and now we have Scal.

Please fellow fans don’t yell out Scalabrine any more it’s totally bush and embarassing to him.

I don’t see why Scalabrine is getting such a passionate defense. What has he ever done to impress anyone to think this guy should be on this team, and he makes us better?

You’re the one who should get off the moral high horse. Don’t think you can bully others into agreeing with you over a borderline player in this league. The reason we should cut Scalabrine are simple.

1) Salary ratio does not comport with performance. He’s not worth the money he makes.
2) Borderline player who can’t even shoot anymore or make a positive impact on the game.
3) His minutes can go towards others who can make better use of them – Powe, Big Baby, Walker, etc.

And last of all don’t you dare put words into my mouth. I never mentioned Darius Miles in my post, so don’t make preposterous statements about a player that I never talked about and thenn attribute them to me, now that is BUSH league!

PS Wally Sczerbiak was a much better player than Scalabrine will ever be and was worthy of being a Celtic (when healthy). It is legitimate to question why a marginal player is still sticking around when he doesn’t perform.
