Theres also no reason at all that KG should only have 10/7.. I dont know what the deal is, but noone on that Bobcats roster should be able to guard him…but they can

Are individual #s or the win more important?
KG could care less what he ends up with if his teams win and so should you. He is the ultimate team player, he is not a dominant one-on-one player, never has been, that is why he is a perfect fit being the defender to go with Paul and Ray as primary scorers. Don’t think Russell faced this scrutiny when he put up some pretty atrocious offensive #s as he led his team to 11 titles. It’s all about winning.

The win is more important no doubt, I guess I just expect better play out of KG especially on the glass

amen
from a non-religous fellow. this idea that kg’s numbers are down and thats a reflection on his game is absurd. it logically makes sense that kg put up monster offensive numbers in minnesota with a supporting cast that pales in comparison to what he has now. why should kg be the #1 option when you have paul and ray on the court with you? jthe stat line doesn’t show his defensive presence. and yes, russell’s numbers are the perfect comparison. judging a player just on stats is like judging a movie on word of mouth. there’s a lot more to be seen than what you read in the paper.

I'll preface this by saying I'm not really worried about KG
However, just like you can’t blindly look at the numbers with KG, you also can’t blindly claim that everything is alright because of ubuntu and defensive rotations. Disregarding the stats, I do sense a slight dropoff in KG’s performance of late. Defensively, he’s the same old KG, but he’s consistenly been worse than he was last year on offense and on the boards. He doesn’t seem to be dominating quite as much. This isn’t an overreaction, just an observation.

Actually, I thought exactly the same: offensively, he’s the same old KG (and even better, since he tries to take it inside more consistently), but there is a noticeable defensive drop-off.

KG is on his 14th season in the NBA, he’s also played in over 1000 Games, show me one player in the history of the league whos numbers didnt decline at this milestone, its inevitable…i cant understand why people dont get it

Bobcats played effective defense against us much of the time
They attempted to pack the paint to force us into jump shots. KG wasn’t hitting his, Ray also didn’t hit his threes. Made it harder on the team as a whole. Still second night of a back to back on the road, you’ll take any win. I know that we blew out Philly but it still drains you to travel and play so soon.

If it hadn’t been for Raymond Felton’s atrocious play, the Bobcats would have won the game.

Hate the ‘what if’ game. We could also say if the big 3 played a little better or if Rondo played a little better the Celtics would have won easier.

this team resembles the old 60’s team, no individuals in the top ten but the team winning with balanced performances. it’s not always pretty but… pp hit the shots when it counted and eddie played a hustling game. wallace is outstanding for the bobcats.

Actually...
Right now, Perkins and Rondo are in the NBA Top 5 in blocks and steals, respectively.

Rondo
How did Rondo play, judging by the box score he either didn’t care or had major problems with Felton or Augustine? I mean 4 pts? 9 assists but 3 TO’s. Granted he has played very well over the last few games but big drop offs like this are tough to see.

I didn’t see the game either, but Felton was held to 2-15 shooting and had 6 TO’s to go along with his six assists. I’m guessing Rondo played well enough.

Grind it out...
That was another grind it out win on the back half of a back to back. The Big Three are usually flat on those nights, and they were tonight. No big issue there.
As far as Rondo, his biggest thing is developing consistancy from night to night. 22 points one night and 2 points the next is a big swing. He did a decent job on Felton the defensive, but gave up points to Augustin.
Big night for Perk. I thought the boards and blocks were just as important as the points.
‘Cats played well and put themselves in a position to win. They just coughed up the ball too many times. If Gerald Wallace could stay healthy, he’d be a force on a better team. He’s been doing what Pierce did for years. Putting up consistantly good numbers on a losing team. Charlotte has talent and coaching, they just seem to lack a team leader. Wallace will always be a 2nd or 3rd guy on a good team.

Off Topic
Iverson may be coming to the Celtics. In the pre-game show Tommy and Tanquay were discussing practices and Tommy suggested that Iverson would love it here because Doc does no overdo practices. It would be great. Iverson would come here to not practice and then could do whatever he wants during games. I think he’s an expiring contract so it could be a great cap clearing move to get LeBron here in 2010. I think there’s an Iverson sneaker ad going up on Storrow Drive and LeBron has a new Adidas bean pot shoe coming out that will be on the exit from Logan.

Felton is a dissappointment as a player; he has regressed since his rookie year. Also, who would have though Perk would be a better pro than Okafor? It sure seems that way.

just poor shooting
Hi all, just joined CB but have been reading for years. Was at the game last night (I’d say more than 1/2 the crowd was pro Celtics) and to me it seemed like the Cats D was much less of a factor than the Cs just missing wide open shots. Garnett and Pierce were especially cold repeatedly missing shots they typically make at a very high %. Garnett was slow in rotation on D, and when he did rotate to stop a penetration he seemed slow recovering back out to his man (witness the 3 Sean May jumpers). Powe was missing inside shots, Rondo had 2 great drives, but generally was much happier just passing (I was surprised he only had 9 assists it seemed like more!). Easy fast break baskets kept the C’s in this one. As I said to my son, its a pretty good deal when the Cs can play this poorly and still get the 5 point win!

Precisely, NC Axeman
When you don’t click against a team fired up to play you, in their arena, on back-to-back and manage a win, that’s pretty good. We are deep enough, calm enough, well coached enough and reliant on D enough to win on any night.
Talk about drafting – Sean May, Ray Felton, Adam Morrison – not much return there. And Okafor is a nice player but not the franchise guy he looked like as a roookie. But it is always a pleasure watching Gerald Wallace. I’ve liked him since he played in McDonald’s All America game at Fleetcenter years ago.
