Let's Go See Obama
The Globe has a fun article about the Celtics' goal for this season: Get back to the White House and meet President Obama.
Rajon explains:
"We want to be the first Celtics team to win back-to-back [since 1969], and it would also be an honor to go back to the White House. I want to win as many championships as possible with this group of players. Our main priority is to win the championship, but it's a little something we say - 'Let's go see Obama.' "

I was more interested....
in the salary slot numbers quoted in that article.
The Celtics have a $2.392 million midlevel exception they could offer McDyess. Other NBA power teams with lucrative exceptions available include Cleveland ($5.1 million), the Lakers ($5.5 million), San Antonio ($2.085 million), Orlando ($3 million), Houston ($4.5 million), Utah ($5.5 million), and Toronto ($4.3 million).

not crazy about the Lakers having such a large exception.

Keep in Mind...
teams like the Lakers and Cavs would be committing double whatever they would hypothetically give McDyess because of the luxury tax (as would the Celtics—and the Celtics would also have to cut a guaranteed contract which ups the ante in a way).

Very Sad
that we are virtually silenced to talk about something as important as this election and how it actually does connect with the NBA and Celtics. Pathetic. You’ve effectively dumbed-down the discussion at a very significant juncture. For those interested in this topic, check out Magic Johnson’s comments in the LA Times about the election. Impressive.

Right on RLJ
It’s a special moment for all Americans. Wasn’t Ubuntu political? Go C’s and I look forward to Doc and co. meeting President Obama.

how to start a topic that you won’t let anyone discuss.

Its too bad it cant be discussed but its probably for the best. The focus should be basketball, and somthing as charged as the elections could get people pissed off at eachother and not talking about basketball.

Your new Prez...
…is a baller: How cool is that? When the C’s (hopefully) go the White House, they’ll actually meet someone who understands the game. I like that.

Daily Links?
Had a house fire and been out of touch the last couple of weeks. Then I come back to all these changes. Adjusting to my own situation is hard enough, but this is hard to believe. Happy for the guys that do celtics stuff live. my question is were do I now find the wonderful daily links that I enjoy reading? Jeff, I hope this was a good move for you, even if I was happy the way it was. thanks anyone. BW

You’ll be able to find them right on the front page of the blog every morning as usual.

I can't wait!!
I’m all for the team winning another title and going to visit President Barrack Obama. I want Rondo and him to play a little one on one. I have got to see if the commander-in-chief has some skills on the court.
Then in the future I can’t wait for the Celtics to win more championships and go visit some of the next new presidents like:
President Condoleeza Rice and President Mitt Romney and President Al Franken and President Tom Brady.

A far cry from this:
When asked on Sunday what he would say to President Bush when they met, Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace told the Free Press: “I don’t have [expletive] to say to him. I didn’t vote for him. It’s just something we have to do.”

Obama is going to put in a basketball court at the White House. They next team that wins the NBA championship is going to play on it, and Obama will be out there with them.

“I have sworn that we’re taking out the bowling alley in the White House and we’re putting in a basketball court,” Barack Obama said, according to a pool press report of his visit to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle.
The current First Court is a modest one:

It needs a dome, like the ones you see at tennis clubs. Get it done, Obama!

Rondos comment
If they really want to see Barack Obama how about taking teams like the indiana pacers seriously. The name of the game in the nba and in all sports you better beat the teams your suppose to beat or else your in trouble. I am not taking anything for granted this year i really wanted to see this team beat the bulls 72-10 reccord. Im not saying that all hope is lost I want this team to be special and i know the players are not satisfied with just 1 ring. Go Beat that 72-10 reccord Go Celtics Beat La and yes they can go to the white house unite as a team and this country can unite as 1 and say IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT BARACK IS COOKIN

I will go out on a limb
…and suggest that the Celtics will NOT beat the Bulls’ record for most wins. Nor will any other team for that matter. Ever. Hopefully this will work as a reverse jinx ;-)

Ah, I forgot to say that what matters is being fit and injury-free for the playoffs and winning games away from home!
