what tommy and doc said, i.e. eddie played paul better than rondo ,was obviously true and is why we have the win streak. different people come thru. another rock steady performance by kg and baby played good d. posey played well but really wasn’t a factor and our second team was a factor. and paul really put rondo as an all star into perspective.
Paul is the best pg in the leage, by a long ways...
…and Rondo is an All-Star (or should be). He is the second best PG in the East so far (and some reasonably prefer him to Harris, for that matter).

More than anything it puts Chris Paul into perspective. When all is said and done – barring injury – he’s going to be one of the best ever at the position. He didn’t play particularly well but still put up 20 and 14 with literally just one teammate that showed up to play. It isn’t fair to say Rondo shouldn’t be an all-star because he was outplayed by the best in the game. It wasn’t Rondo’s worst game by any stretch either.
Lol good title
Having played you and the Lakers, I think you guys are the far better opponent. Still think it’s absurd how everyone was calling the Lakers the better team after the opening 20 games.
thanks atthehive
Appreciate the perspective and the props!

Runaway Train
The back-breaker during the last big run had to be BBD’s hustle and defense leading to a fast break which resulted in an easy transition layup for TA. There’s NO WAY anyone was getting in front of BBD to take the charge on that break! :O

Perk Made Some Big Plays And Paul From NO Bounces the Ball Too Much
I don’t think Perk got enough credit for his play last nite. I also think their Paul bounces the ball too much. He helped us by running down the clock for us. Alot of his assists last nite were due to the poor play of the Celtics.
Usually Rondo gets up for these kind of games. He just had a poor game, making poor decisions several times on the defensive end. But Paul is by far the better pg. Ray didn’t have a good game either. The amount of turnovers by the Cs are killing me. House however appears to be getting his shot back.
A win is a win, but neither team played their best.
Color commentators
Living outside of New England, I watched the game on ESPN.
I have to say: Hubie Brown is the best basketball analyst working today. It’s never about him, he makes insightful comments after every play and—most incredibly—he never puts any player down. He’s always positive—focusing on what a player can do, as opposed to what he can’t. First and foremost, he knows more hoops than anyone I’ve ever listened to.
Jeff Van Gundy, by comparison, is awful. He’s a loud-mouth, makes stupid comments, and actually makes the game less pleasurable to watch. (And, yes, he drags down Mark Jackson as well).
I implore ESPN: make Hubie part of the number one team!!!
Agree to disagree
Personally, I think JVG is the best in the business, and that Hubie says the same thing every single game regardless of what’s happening (just substitutes names out).
To each his own, I guess.
God bless and good night!
I dont care for chris paul myself….I know I’m in the minority when I say that, but the ball is in his hands for the entire shot clock, he gives it up and that guy shoots, thats the hornets ball movement…Chris Paul : 14 Assists, Hornets: 17 Assists…And its like that every night…borrrringggg… He also looks like Carlton from the “Fresh Prince” which makes me laugh

Agree
I totally agree with you. Also, Eddie House defended him well last nite. That shouldn’t happen with Chris Paul. As I said in an post above, Chris Paul actually helped the C’s run the clock down last nite.
Everytime i looked up
I felt that the hornets had 7 or less seconds left on the shot clock and had to force up shots. I think the real credit here has to go to our pick and roll defense though. It was on point last night and the pick and roll often initiates their offense then when we defended it well they had to reset with 10 or less seconds left
Against penetrating point guards, it has to be team defense.
Folks tend to over-emphasize how well some point guard is supposedly defending another. I’m not trying to knock either House or Rondo here, but against a set up half-court defense, any competent point guard should be able to knock his defender off on the first pick. So in defending a good penetrating point guard (more than any other position), it comes down to team defense, and not the man-to-man defense of the other point guard.
Good win
NO came into the season with Contender expectations & probably looked at this game as a measuring stick. They’ve got a way to go.
C’s toughed out the back to back. It just seemed like the Celts wanted it more. Rondo usually does a good job defending CP. Paul is their primary offensive weapon, so by that measure, Rondo, House & PP did a decent job on him. He is one of the best penetrators, so you just try to limit the damage, and the C’s did.
Barkley made an interesting point about CP the other night. 5’10" guys who play a ton of minutes and take a pounding down low are going to wear down their bodies. NO needs a reliable backup who can spell 10-15 mpg if they want CP at full strength for the regular season and playoffs.
But that’s the trap that teams with dominant PG’s fall into (Kidd, Nash). They control the game when they’re on the floor, but there is a huge drop off when they sit. If they play a ton of minutes to get wins in the regular season, they’re worn down by the time they get to the playoffs.
I do like Hubie as a commentator. He’s pretty straightforward. Van Gundy has almost as much knowledge, but he’d rather be ‘entertaining’. Jackson, I like in spite of his goofiness. Not sure why.
Slow
I was surprised to find out that the Hornets are 28th in the league in possessions per game. Surprised because the image of them is, like the Blazers (who are 30th in the league), is of an up-tempo, free-wheeling team, when in fact they are very deliberate and patient. To a fault, I would say. With Paul’s passing abilities, and given the paucity of people they have who can create their own shot, I think they would benefit by playing at a faster pace. Not that they have to be Showtime Lakers, but 28th in the league is too slow given the makeup of the team.
Perimeter defense was key
Hornets were shooting 42% on threes as a team before last night. I said before the game that the celts D would make Peja disappear, but I didn’t expect the whole team to end up shooting 14% on threes!
Did you hear the reason for Chandler taking the night off? He woke up with a stiff neck!
Way to man up and be there for your teammates in a big game…

RR,,,CP
Quick PGs will give Rondo trouble until he learns the fine art of the mid-range jumper(because they can cheat a step on D)..although with Ray,KG and PP it isn’t the end of the world..(although it would be nice if he could shoot just a bit)..as for as Hubie is concerned (as I have said before) that he represents the league front office very well and if you want to know what he thinks about the next game just watch Classic NBA..as was pointed out…Hubie has been working off the same script for over twenty years…JVG simply cracks me up, I watch games I could care less about just to hear what he has to offer…
