More Rondo Love
The Daily Dime has some more love for Rondo.
For starters, he began the night ranked 19th in the league in field-goal percentage (.519), the only non-forward or non-center among the NBA's top 20. He is second in the NBA in steals, eighth in assists, and posted his first career triple-double earlier this month as Boston was in the early stages of what has now become the longest winning streak in franchise history, tying the mark set by the '81-82 team.
"He's like a combo of J-Will (Jason Williams), the way he goes behind his back, Tony Parker, the way he hits his floater, and Gary Payton with the way he plays defense," Paul Pierce said. "He's a rare combo of speed, long arms, toughness, and he rebounds like Jason Kidd at that position."
He also seems to be building momentum for an All Star berth:
He is now being mentioned as a serious All-Star contender, and it's tough to see him being left off by the coaches when they vote for the reserves (Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson have commanding leads in fan balloting). Aside from Joe Johnson and Devin Harris (and perhaps Ray Allen), is there any East guard more equally deserving?
"I try not to think much about it,' Rondo said. "There's a lot of talk about it, but the more we get wins, then the more I probably push myself to become an All-Star."
He sure looked like one Sunday night.

Rondo's been great but...
He better not make it in place of Ray. Ray has been consistently great in the first part of the season.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Rondo deserves it, but not as much as Ray.
All Star Game
I actually hope none of the Celtics go to the All-Star game. I’d rather they get some rest.
Imho, I think he shouldn't quite make it. Its close though
Is it bad that I hope he doesn’t make it so it he feels shafted? And Id also like him to not make it over Ray. Ray is playing great and we never talk enough about how hard he plays on d. As a 6’5" guard he gets tough assignments that in actual action he ends up sharing with Paul. Its critical to our furtunes that Ray works as hard on d as he does because its the combo of PP, Ray and Tony that has to combine to make up for all the minutes on d that Posey provided
it's all good
Went to last nights game with my 16 y/o son. Rajon in the 3rd was phenomenal. Broke the backs of the Knicks by himself. I am really enjoying the heck out of watching him get better and better as each week passes.
Rondo and Perk - Amazing Improvement
All Star or not is a good discussion topic but without seeing enough of Devin Harris, Andre Miller, AI I am certainly biased toward our guy. But I do know that our team is better than last year’s. Ray is more fluid and the bench is stronger too than last December’s but the major grade ups have come form Rondo and Perk. Rondo looked like he had it in him but Perk is really exceeded expectations. Anyone seen him gather lately. He’s going quickly up. Remember his only shot – a fierce short hook. Now he’s got fade away, glass kissers etc. His shot blocking and Rondo’s steals are fantastic.
I know this is a Rondo subject but I see them as key to our continuing this record year and could not care less about All Star team.
Rondo and Perk
Have as much championship swag as anyone on this team right now, and have been more consistent in their roles than even the big 3….It’s amazing how much better they are getting every game… KG has created an absolute monster in Perk and Rondo might be the MVP of this team right now

I don’t know if Rondo makes it or not. He’s close, but I think he might still be a year away from getting the league-wide recognition he deserves. He just doesn’t get enough credit for how well the team’s been playing. Even going back to last year’s playoffs, when Rondo was on, the team was unstoppable. When he was off… we had issues like the Atlanta series. The tremendous start the team has gotten off to this year, I think, can be attributed in large part to the improved (and more consistent) play of its point guard.
With that said, he’s still probably a year away.
What I’m confident in saying, though, is that IF Rondo makes the All-Star game… he’ll win the game’s MVP award. That kind of loosy-goosey, no-D, everyone’s driving the lane without restistance… he’ll have like eight steals and fifteen assists, he’ll be making perfect behind-the-back passes, making the big men look stupid with that little faking-the-behind-the-back-pass-layup move of his.
Yeah, they don’t want to put him in the game, because the whole Western Conference will get RONDO’ED!
I'm as big a Rondo supporter as they come
But I don’t think he makes the All Star team. Guys like Devin Harris and Vince Carter have an edge on him. As well as Joe Johnson. And Rip Hamilton. While AI and Wade start for the East at the guard slots.
I even think a case for Nate Robinson over Rajon Rondo strictly in terms of production can be made.
However, Rondo could make it based on the fact he’s a starting guard on a team that’s actually good (unlike Robinson). But as well as Rondo’s playing, based on the depth chart, Rondo just doesn’t cut it, as of right now. He should be a serious player in the coming years for it though. Don’t be discouraged Celtics fans.
