PJ Brown Retires

From Nola.com

Brown said Wednesday he's officially retired.

"My career ended June 17," Brown said of the day he became a world champion when the Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2008 NBA title.

"There's still some interest out there," said Brown, 39. "I'm reading the internet and reading the papers and there's rumors floating, but I won't return. I'm moving on. I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life. (The Hornets) asked, just kind of feeling me out as to where I was. Boston and a couple of other teams (asked). But like I told everybody, I'm officially done. My career is definitely over.

He was a class act in every respect.

Here’s a rule for NBA General Managers: when an underpublicized power forward comes out of Louisiana Tech, grab him.

AW

There is a rumor that that Cavs are talking to employee number 8. Doc and Danny need to bring him in for a workout. The bench needs something. I don’t know if he’s it, but it needs something.

Is there a guy in the bottom 10 that you’d say, no way, he’s untouchable?

Top two options are POB and Cassell. Third option might be Scal.

The knicks supposedly need to open two roster spots by 1/10, meaning a buyout for you know who.

Starbury and the Wiggle.

Now that would shake things up, even just for a few workouts.

Wow that is a bummer. I was really execting a repeat of last year with pj. Now joe smith becomes really the only option. This may necessitate a trade.

When Perk was asked what he thought of Howard winning the gold medal this summer, he responded: "What’s his impression of me after I won a ring?"

A small space in Celtics history

He had a part in #18, and will forever be remembered for that. A class act, a good post defender, and leadership on the court (and in the locker room). Won’t quickly forget that 18 foot jumper late in the 4th against Cleveland.

Happy Retirement, PJ. You deserve it.

Thanks, PJ!

(assuming this is part of the “internet” that PJ visits)

You were part of something that brought a lot of joy to a great many people. To be remembered in life for something so positive is rare indeed.

Best of luck.

My hat’s off to a consumate pro, who is already sorely missed on this ballclub.

Thanks, PJ, for the contributions to 17. May your post basketball life be satisfying.

The Best For PJ

I wish PJ all the good luck in the world. He is a class act and will forever be a part of Celtic History. It’s rare, that a person who played so little for us, is so highly thought of by so many.
I wish the media would pay more attention to the PJ Browns than the Stephon Marbury’s of the world.

Oh, there’s been a time on this board when PJ’s been as trashed on this board as Posey continues to be.

by CoachBo on Jan 1, 2009 10:14 AM EST reply actions

PJ and Posey trashed here?

I have read some bodacious opinions on this site but nothing negative about PJ. Re Posey only a few naive ones who thought he owed the Celtics a discount. Everyone saw his value.

As much as I want POB to work out and be another steal by Danny, their reluctance to put him in a game situation given how much Doc talks about needing “length” has to be viewed as a verdict.

What about Stromile Swift? Would he be a long fill in or is he just a weaker offensive Leon

Without PJ.

It would have been Lakers-Cavs Finals. Game 7 magic.
