This is just great, couldn’t happen to two better teams:
Devean George’s refusal to consent to being traded to the New Jersey Nets is not the only hindrance to the Jason Kidd-to-Dallas deal, according to several league sources.
Although there has been no public comment from the NBA on the matter, sources say that league officials are not pleased with Jerry Stackhouse’s brazen announcement that he would soon return for a Mavericks playoff run if traded to New Jersey.
‘’I get 30 days to rest, then I’ll be right back,‘’ Stackhouse told The Associated Press on Wednesday in response to the proposed trade. ’’I ain’t going nowhere.’’
Siggy- Everyone needs to go back and read that and watch that clip again. You are dead on. It almost feels like watching it live. We just didn’t know how good we had it! What an incredible player…
Wasn’t this the year also that he came in a little late to the locker room beforehand intentionally so everyone was there? Then when the room got quiet as he came in he stated “All right. Which one of you guys is going to finish second?” Maybe that’s a myth, but I swear I heard one of the other guys repeat that story. Talk about psyching out your competition!
EJPLAYA, I didn’t look at the clip. Still remember it. And you are right about Bird asking who was finishing second. I really think an awful lot of people don’t realize how good Bird was. He wasn’t flashy like Magic and Jordan so he wasn’t on the high flying highlight reels and he was so subtle in what he did it wasn’t noticed by those who didn’t see him play all the time. Even then you needed Tommy to point out what he did. And those passes—-he had eyes behind, on top of his head, everywhere. Magic and Jordan made easy passes look hard. Bird made hard passes look so easy you didn’t realize how hard they were to make. It still annoys me that people think Jordan was better than Bird. To me it’s an argument between Magic and Bird.
