Ray Seals It For The East

Yep, Ray Allen was robbed.  He should have won the MVP with his hot fourth quarter that sealed the win.  Then again, you knew the fans would love on LeBron and when the voting was going on before Ray's outburst, it was hardly surprising to see him up there accepting the trophy.  (OK, the near triple double and the solid game he played throughout didn't hurt either, but I'm biased)

Regardless, it was fun seeing him drain those shots.  He really looked sharp and at times he even looked spry.  I'm happy for him.  He was a late addition and he came up late in the game.  He did us proud.

Ray was more deserving – if he didn’t hit the shots he hit late in the 4th, the East does not win the game. So LeBron had a decent game, but he had his 27 points and 4 TO in 30 minutes. Ray had his 28 points (and 0 TO) in 19 minutes! Maybe this will properly motivate Ray to torch the rest of the league for the next 32 games (and playoffs)!

LeBron for the NBA glitz; Ray for the Ring! 8)

The polls opened too early. Ray did all his damage after the polls were open for half a quarter already. LeBron was doing it all night, but great shooting by Ray to pick up the East when the West was on a run.

prime example as to why the fans shouldn’t actually vote for this

Has anyone else noticed that when Ray gets a few days rest his shooting percentage goes up. I keep wondering why, as the oldest player on the Celtics, is he playing the most minutes on the team.

27 pts 8 boards and 9 assists. I love Ray Allen, and he definitely had what would have probably been good enough for an MVP in just about any other all star game, but when a guy puts those numbers up you have to give him the hardware. There is just no arguing with those numbers.

Absolutely. Fans vote should be a fun thing on the side, not the decider. The mass of fans are always going to go for the big name. Ruins the credibility of the winner.

I don’t watch the allstar game, but a friend of mine who did (and whose opinion I trust) emailed me and said that the real MVP was Chris Paul, even though his team lost.

I don’t think it’s about minutes or rest. He gets the same amount of rest when the team doesn’t practice. In the All Star game there is no defense against Ray and Ray doesn’t have to play defense. These two items are present in real games. It actually makes you appreciate more what he does in real games.

mvp of game= who cares. ray’s selection to the team was certainly vindicated. he put on a show. pp was effective as well and i am glad was not overused.

You know that Saturday Night Live character ‘’Debbie Downer’’ ?! Someone on here reminds me of her to a tee. Wow!

Great game Ray. Even Lebron admitted in his acceptance speech that Ray was the man that saved them. I thought that was a class act by him to mention that. It was a popularity/big name thing.

He wasn’t robbed. If LeBron didn’t win it would have been a total joke. How do you not win MVP with 27, 8, 9, 2 and 2. That’s insane.

Chris Paul?
Having watched the game and knowing how these things are basically designed to have the home town favorite win the MVP, Paul did not have a good game at all.
It was between LeBron and Ray, with LeBron obviously winning the popularity contest.

Used to be if there were to deserving all-stars in line for MVP if one already had a MVP (and Lebron did) they voted the other man to win. Fan voting has ruined all that. Lebron was definitely deserving but Ray would have got the nod if the voting was done the way it was before fan voting.

The All Star game is for the players and fans. Why waste time over it. To me the most valid selections are the ones made by the coaches.

by TrueGreen on Feb 18, 2008 5:53 PM EST reply actions

The all stars should be descided by the players and coaches, not nitty witty pink hat fans.

Just another trophy for Lebron to dust.
