Celts Declaw Cats
Celtics win #45 for the year, defeating the Bobcats 108-100
- This probably should have been a double digit win, but those Bobcats are pesky
- Quoting TripleOT from the chatroom tonight: "Rondo was a clumsy bank teller tonight, dropping dimes everywhere." Rajon put up 16 assists with 9 points, 6 boards and 2 steals
- Perk was a force tonight, 19 points and 9 boards (+ 4 turnovers, but we'll ignore those)
- GAP roundup: Ray led the scoring, KG hit two huge 18-20 footish jumpers to seal it while Paul largely struggled throughout.

yeah, they wob,but doc coached a putrid game. perk was having one of his better games and doc keeps him on the bench for the majority of the 4th quarter , bringing him in with 2 minutes to play after the cats wittled the lead down. meanwhile we play small ball and hang around for 3’s, and let the cats smashmouth in for boards and easy put backs. stupid doc— stupid. is this what you’re getting the team ready to do in the playoffs? small ball, hang around the outside and let garnett get swarmed on his 18 footers with no one down low to rebound. don’t blame the players- the coach sucked. it was good ball when perk was playing ,or when powe was in and we had a down low presence.
Charlotte does seem to match up well with the C’s and Richardson just about owns Pierce. Can’t blame Doc too much on Perkins. It’s not as if the big lug can be counted upon to do much positive.
Nevertheless, a win is a win (except when you lose a player to injury), so the C’s got the W and everyone gets to play another night. It almost seemed as if the Celtics were trying to keep it close. Better check the betting action.

I was watching Perk closely last nite. Some here and in the media seemed concerned about his lack of rebounds. Last nite, and I think this happens every nite, he is usually out of position to rebound. The reason, in my opinion, is that he’s playing help defense sometimes out to the foul line extended. He stopped alot of plays last nite when guys got away from their own defenders. Often he just doesn’t have the time to get back to rebounding. Also, with Charlotte shooting so many three’s many rebounds go long. He did get a big offensive rebound at the end of the game though. I also think he’s the one that poked a ball away late which led to an important bucket.
Sometimes you just don’t have a good night! Sometimes a poor team just matches up well against you. A championship team overcomes that and wins anyway. Even if it is ugly…
Come on guys, we are complaining about a win!! We are 45-12 and on pace to win 60 games. Sometimes I think people just want to whine about something…
Goals for next 25 games:
1. Incorportate PJ and Sam into the rotations.
2. Pollard and Pruitt are deactivated, Pruitt sent to NBDL one
more time.
3. Scalabrine becomes chief bench cheerleader, will see playing
time only when up by 25 with less than 2 minutes to play.
4. End regular season with best record in East.
5. Limit Big 3’s minutes to 30-35 mpg.
6. Work on game end situations in practice.
7. Play with intensity and emotion, knowing that it will be time
to shift into another gear post regular season.

I was a bit concerned about Cassell coming here and messing up chemistry. Some of the Boston talk show stuff and Mike and Tommy basically said there isn’t enough time for him to do that. Also, they said Danny Ainge talked to Rondo about it and Rondo is okay with it. That’s the way to be a GM. The only thing is Sam may not be here too long because Rondo said he’s going to get him back at practice.
Great goals .5M/O
Liking the posts here…Wednesday night will be THE barometer.
I think Sam, if available, should really not be used that night…IMO it’d equal a loss if he’s getting forced minutes…
If Sam comes here that is…not a done deal yet, right?
I’d incorporate his skill set into practices and get him correct before he comes to the floor.
Prim and prop.
Brick, I agree that the Cs haven’t been playing at full efficiency, but did you happen to watch the last half of the win at Portland?
That was the only sustained stint since the all star game where the Cs looked like they did during the 29-3 run. As KG gets healthier and Sam gets integrated into the team, I expcet the Cs to play that commanding style of basketball heading into the playoffs.

And yet we are still 45-12 and winning. Stop complaining!
What a mystery to us basketball ’’experts’’ about why a team can’t re-insert one of their key players who has been injured and rusty and not automatically be in perfect form. Do you honestly think think that anyone out there doesn’t realize we need to get better by playoffs? You’re the only one who sees that we aren’t playing perfect basketball? We ARE however getting better as a team and should be able to get on a roll and peak around playoff time.
Stop dragging down everyone who would like to enjoy this run at a title. I guess misery does indeed love company, but many of us would like to have SOME positives in the posts.

I’m happy when they play good basketball, Frankly, I haven’t seen them play a really good game since Garnett came back from his injury. They are out of sync. Garnett still looks rusty and Pierce looks tired. PP is playing at half speed out there and settling for jump shots.
I think KG also has been playing with the flu the last 2 games. Last game Tommy noted he wasn’t sweating as he usually does (dehydrated). PP hasn’t looked right to me either. He could be sick or hurt. For awhile against the Bobcats they were playing great. Offensively the ball was really moving. Unfortunately they didn’t keep it up for 48 minutes. I think we will see them play better against the better teams. Wed. will be interesting.
