Rajon “Royal” Rondo? Rajon “Rumble” Rondo? Rajon “Royal Rumble” Rondo? Dang, he needs a nickname, I know, not everyone needs a nick, but he does.
I love Rajon Rondo!

Yeah, lucky to have Cassell to right the ship and support Rondo enough that he could came back in and be the impact player he was…

This is the kind of win that builds your confidence for the play-offs.
Doc did a good job too, loved the way the Celtics came out of time-outs, and especially the way they started the third quarter.
Rondo is just sooooooo much fun to watch, and Sam did all the things we hoped he could do when he was signed.
Gotta love this team.
Bring on the Rockets.

LOL…even Sean Elliot who predicted a victory in the first quarter when the Spurs were up by 20 thinks Rajon is a very special kid who just does not get the recognition because his name is not Chris Paul or D. Will….This game would never have been won nor we wouldn’t have closed that gap if it weren’t for Rondo and ofcourse Sam I am.

Sean Elliote (sp) put it in the win column for SA when Celts trailed by 19 in the first quarter. I guess this lost for SA counts as two! Great team win.

I guess the curse of Tim Duncan has officially been lifted, eh? This one makes it 3 straight against them if I’m not mistaken. Oh these times. . . they are a changin’!!!!

we’ve beaten the spurs twice this season – and both times, without one of the big three. pretty freaking impressive. this one has got to be the best win of the year. coming back from that early deficit, without ray, on the road…man, we are a bad-ass team…

BOY does it feel good to say that huh? at the start of season we are all just giddy and couldn’t quite beleive we were along for the ride. now we’re bad-asses. we need some A-Team theme music.

it was so fitting that elliot ate a great big shit sandwich. predicting the final outcome of a game DURING the first quarter?! i hope i can find his NCAA tournament brackets somewhere so i can pick the OPPOSITE teams!
and i’m sorry, but i couldn’t stand his analysis. is this what it’s like for every other team listening to tommy on celtics broadcasts?? i mean, at least tom doesn’t have the audacity to predict a celts win in the first friggin quarter!!

Game ball to sean elliot for not only predicting a spur victory in the first but also declaring that was horry’s shot was good as it hung in the air. I know people complain about Tommy but elliot is brutal. Great game though, can’t wait for the Rockets.

You forgot the most important stat…29 minutes? Made no sense. Tony Allen played 26 minutes and did absolutely nothing. I love Tony but right now he should not be playing. We should be seeing a lot more of Cassell and Rondo in the game together. Whatever has to happen, Rondo needs to be playing 35 minutes or more a night. He’s just that good.

Did Elliot point out Bruce Bowen grabbing then yanking Eddie House’s arm on that last play right before KG threw it away? That was ridiculous. On the other hand, Bruce Bowen is SUCH a great defender.

If Bowen doesn’t want to be considered dirty he shouldn’t do things like that. That is getting away with something not defense. LOL

i could only catch the highlight of the 4th.
so Doc has decided to pair Cassell with House, instead of Rondo. the extra shooter on court pays the dividend with 2 threes in the last 2 minutes.
but when Rondo is not playing, Parker makes play. just wondering who’s missed guarding Parker for his last layup.

Byrdman, you’re right. There is no bigger homer than Sean Elliot. He whined the whole game. Sam’s three was huge, shots like that are why we got him. A real team building game.

hail rondo. watching sam light it up in the 2nd, inspires rondo in the third. he played like a crazy man. let’s not forget that the spurs best player and the man of the decade, tim duncan, was held in check by kg. kg was huge on duncan. i worry about doc against the veteran coaches but last night he pushed all the right buttons. don’t get down on tony. yes ginobli up faked him way too many times-duh tony- but he was hustling, applying pressure and he added to the defensive mayhem. i was mad at the c’s when they were up 20 pts. against the bucks- but not when they were down 20 last night. they were starting in the wrong gear and you could tell they would make the adjustments and again it was kg. kg had that look- that presence- he is the master.

I thought Gorman had his best line of the year last night in the final second. When Parker stole the ball and got it to Horry and he launched the three point attempt, Gorman just goes “No Way…”. Not “No Way” as in there’s no way that’s going in, but “No Way” as in you can’t possibly be serious. What a dagger that would’ve been.
That game was really fun.

I was skeptical of the Sam pick-up. No more. He was great. Fantastic win because the refs were really bad.
Posey’s stats weren’t great but the guy was all over the court. Just tremendous D.
Eddie House’s 3 was right up there with Sam’s for getting us up off the couch.
And even the “nice guy, can’t coach” experts should give Doc props for a well coached game.

Two aliens on the floor. It was awesome. I don’t think any team is ready for that. I’m hungry for me some Houston.

Interesting how one game can make someone reverse their opinions… I thought Sam was great during that stretch. He definitely made a big difference in that game. Huge 3.
The only thing that I have an issue with still is that I have always thought he would ease back into his old self. The last two games he has come in and just started firing up shots. He doesn’t really make an effort to come in and be a PG, rather he just is trying to score. Not saying that we don’t need the scoring, but if Ray was healthly last night he wouldn’t have seen that many minutes.
We had the ‘’come in and launch shots’’ player already in House. I still just don’t think he was needed unless we had an injury. Ray is hurt, so he helped us. Had he not been, he isn’t really needed. Good insurance policy I guess. I wish he would come in and try to run the offense rather than just shoot.

It could possibly be that Sam has yet to have one full practice with the team. Just a thought.

Ever notice how Rondo has come up with HUGE offensive rebounds in 3 big games now—he did it last night, and against Dallas and one other time (can’t remember the specific game; might have been Detroit?).
So, I say he is now “Big Rebound Rajon.”
btw, Modawg3434, I don’t know this for sure, but I assume the 29 minutes was because he seemed to hurt his ankle.

I happen to agree with you on my original thoughts on Sam, but I think your statement is unfair. As to his coming in and firing up shots, that’s exactly what we needed from him in the second quarter. As to being the pg, was he the pg. He was, I think, always in with House or Rondo. As to running the offense, it was said above he doesn’t know the offense. The team hasn’t had any practices since he’s come in. He admitted to taking some bad shots last nite, but other guys who’ve been here all year took bad shoots too. He has to lose alot of habits gained over many years in a few games. And his last shot was within the context of the offense. He, like Ray Allen and PP, supposedly couldn’t play defense, but he played it last nite and made some big defensive plays. He was robbed of one by a bad call. Also, look at the reactions and interactions with his teammates, especially House and Rondo. They seem to get along pretty well. I now think
Sam will be big for us down the stretch, especially when he becomes more familiar with the other guys on the floor. I don’t think he’ll get the chance to really know the offense, but he’ll get the idea of ball movement in random play.

I don’t know if you saw the game (not being sarcastic), but Rondo played terribly in the first quarter. He took bad shots, didn’t finish, didn’t play good D. He didn’t play team ball. I think he got taken in by the Parker matchup. That accounted for most of his unplayed minutes. When he came back he came back as the “good” Rondo and was sensational. Another lesson learned within the context of the game. This guy just learns so quickly.
I agree with you that TA isn’t playing well.
