Although he definitely shot better this game and I would say this is as close as he will come to being the producer we need off the bench at the PG spot, I must say I am still not impressed with Sam’s shoot first mentality. He did get 4 assists in 17 min which is a nice number, however two of those that I remember specifically he was trying to shoot and the man locked him down so tight even with his pivots he couldn’t force one up. He was kind of lucky the other guy hit an open jumper. 5-10 is not a bad percentage obviously, but do you really want your PG shooting 10 times in 17 minutes?! There were stretches where guys were just standing around because they knew he would fire it up. It reminded me of the Spurs game. Sure his shots went in, but he sure wasn’t looking to pass. His defense was terrible as well. Guys blew past him like he was standing still and he would just try and reach from behind. This is why even when he has a good game for him, I think it hurts the continuity of our team in the long run.
