When Animals Attack

benny.jpgThe Bulls don't like James Posey dating back to his days as a member of the Miami Heat.  So Bennie the Bull decided to take vigilante justice into his own hands.  Hilarity ensues.

Marc Spears reports on the shooting:

During the fourth quarter of the Celtics' 106-92 win over the Bulls at the United Center, the Chicago mascot shot T-shirts out of a T-shirt gun that hit them in the back. The incident happened when Garnett and Posey were walking to the bench during a timeout with 2:49 remaining. Garnett and Posey gave Bennie the Bull a glare, and, said Garnett, "We exchanged words."

Steve Bulpett sheds some light on Posey's reaction:

Posey, not a favorite in Chicago dating back to when he was a member of the Miami Heat, cringed in mock fear.

"I don’t know - I feel threatened," Posey said. "I don’t feel safe. They really have tough love here, but it was definitely an inside job. They made the mascot do it. I got hit in the back walking away. That spot on my back is sore. I might have to get treatment on it."

I wonder if it is the same Bulls mascot that got arrested a couple years ago.

Yup, it must be tough to be a Bulls fan this year.

Here’s something that occurred to me about Posey when the Celtics were trouncing the Heat…
HOW SMART DO YOU SUPPOSE POSEY FEELS FOR BAILING OUT OF MIAMI TO BOSTON WHEN HE DID? House has to be feeling the same way.

if i were chi i would hate posey too. he’s lucky he got outnof there with what he got. what a disappointing team the bulls are. they need a renovation. including their mascot.

Uh, that’s messed up. Hopefully the League suspends him and/or the Bulls fire him.

the mascot needs to be suspended definitely but I would go further and fine the Bulls. The mascot works for them so ultimately the Bulls are responsible for his behavior and if he hurts someone. The league can’t allow this to go unchecked because if it does then you’ll have mascots all over the league taking shots at players. If the league doesn’t do anything then garnett and posey should brings charges for assault. what if they were hurt by this? those guns pack a lot of power. I don’t now if posey was joking when he said his back hurt but what if it is and he can’t play?

I’m pretty sure Posey was joking when he said he was hurt

I assume he will be suspended. The mascot in clevland got suspended for mopping the flow with Ricky D’s old jersey so the bull has to be suspended for shooting a t-shirt gun at players. I actually saw the incident (not the shooting itself, but the reaction of posey & KG) on the bulls boardcast and wondered how those t-shirts got there. You could see posey & kg bend over and pick them up with an odd look on their faces. I watched it a few different times because I was confused as to why they would be picking those up and why they were there in the first place. I expect some action from the league for this one. If a fan did that they would be kicked out and arrested.

Are you guys being serious? It was all in fun.

I think we ought to sic Lucky on Benny the Bull.

didn’t see the incident, but im sure it was a joke. I remember mascott’s getting in fist fights with Charles Barkley all the time. I also remember going to games in Seattle a few times and seeing Squatch causing problems with opposing players… but it’s all part of the show.
