Baby Daddy Pierce May Miss Next Game
Paul Pierce, whose fiancee Julie Landrum is expected to have induced labor, possibly as early as today, may miss tomorrow night’s game in Charlotte as a result. It would be the first game of the season missed by Pierce, who is the only Celtic to play in all 75 games this season.
The Celtics captain is about to join a large list of Celtics who became fathers over the last year. James Posey’s girlfriend gave birth to a daughter named Sai Aleke last week, making the Celtics forward the latest in a group that also includes Rajon Rondo, Brian Scalabrine, Kendrick Perkins and Leon Powe.

Congrats to Paul! and since Sexyscottish named his kid after Pierce, I’d suggest Paul should return the favor… ;)

Paul deserves a one day vacation away from Jason Richardson. Take the night off, Captain, you’ve earned it, and be ready to pass out some of Red’s favorite cigars when your child is born.

Hey Edgar, do you think there will be room
on the squad for my kid in ‘27, too? ;)
Assuming it’s a boy or else she’ll just have to
rock the WNBA instead… Hmmm

i didn’t know that Rondo had a kid. He’s just a kid himself!

I, for one, would love to have Ryan Gomes back. I’m thrilled with Leon’s progress; but can’t be alone in thinking that were the tables turned, Gomes would’ve made equal strides as a supporting player on this year’s Celtics team, while Powe wouldn’t have looked half as good playing fast and loose in Minnesota, sans Garnett, Allen and Pierce.
Gomes is as viable a PF as Posey, who isn’t guaranteed to return, or Scalabrine.

What’s with all of these young players (Rondo, Perk, Powe) having kids???? Sure they are set financially (which isn’t the case for 99% of young parents), but would you want your dad to be away on business for half of the year during the first 10 years of your life?
With the hours most average Joe’s have to work, I’d wager these kids will see far more of their dads. They only practice 3-5 hours when they are at home, plus they get about 4 months where they don’t have to go anywhere. They work out at home or at a gym for 3 hours and the rest of the day is theirs. Most kids I grew up with would trade that in for their dad’s work load any day.
