Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

More Rest For Stars

Mark Murphy reports:

Paul Pierce, who missed Saturday night’s win over Charlotte due to the birth of a daughter, probably won’t play in tomorrow night’s game in Milwaukee, either.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers expressed reluctance to use the Celtics captain until he got a practice - or a gameday shootaround - under his belt. Rivers left the door open for Pierce to simply fly to Washington D.C. for Wednesday night’s game against the Wizards.

Rivers, who also gave Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen the night off Saturday, intimated that he might give one of the two tomorrow night off as well - a decision that would probably point toward Garnett, considering that Allen is a fan favorite in Milwaukee, his original NBA city.

Rajon Rondo may also be given a break - especially now that Gabe Pruitt has rejoined the team following the end of the NBDL season.

ok pierce i understand, but i hope we dont get to crazy with this nights off thing.

my hope was that doc would just play the starters less )mabey 15-20 a game) to keep them fresh rather than go to some kind of crazy two of you start, the other 3 sit rotation rest system…

I think Doc gives them full rest now and the last three games give them between 30-35 minutes a game.

i remember how out of synch kg was on the west coast trip after being injured and i hope they don’t lose their timing while they sit. let the players play and give doc the night off.

Any indication on who is/isn’t playing Wednesday night? I’m going to the game and would prefer not to see a repeat of the early game in DC this year.

Why not give Doc the night off, or the week off, or the month off, or the year off, so he can mull over the different combinations.
