D'Antoni Accepts Knicks Job
Mike D'Antoni is reportedly going to accept the Knicks job according to various reports.
I'm a little surprised by this myself. I figured Mike would use the Knicks to drive the price up on the Bulls but eventually accept less cash to take over a much better (it would seem) situation in Chicago. I guess $24 million was just too much cash to turn down.
Somewhere Luol Deng and Ben Gordon are punching pillows in frustration. Somewhere Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury are giddy with anticipation. I will say this, the Knicks might be a good fit with D'Antoni because neither one has cared much about defense for years.

Wow, I’m really surprised. I was willing to bet he wouldn’t want a job on the Titanic, no matter how much money was offered. Who in their right mind jumps on a sinking ship? I thought it would take several years before the Knicks were competitive again. I would wish him luck, but he took a job with the hated Knicks.
It can’t get any worse, but that’s also what I thought when Brown took over. Ick….

Jeff,
Jon Barry had the same comments today on ESPN Radio. I stated earlier, my biggest fear is how all of this effects the possible interest in Tom Thibodeau from other teams. I could see Chicago being interested, but I don’t forsee his style of play connecting with Suns. Hopefully the Suns saw this coming and have had a back up plan in the works.

D’Antoni surprises me. He appears to be a quality act and had $8 mil more gtd by Phoenix for the next two years. Other jobs would be opening down the road. Yes Shaq is an albatross and Nash did lose a little this year but why would anybody go to work for Dolan? Not even Dolan can repeat the stupid Larry Brown and Isiah windfalls. Can he?
