Roadkill
A 32-13 first quarter deficit didn't leave much opportunity for a comeback. Whenever the Celtics made a little run, the Cavs had something to counter. Some other random notes:
- LeBron still didn't shoot well, (5-16) and they still blew us out.
- Well, he did hit 3 threes, but I'll give him those.
- The difference is that when he set up his teammates, they came through tonight.
- Huge game for Delonte West. Best game I've seen him play in a long time.
- I'm really impressed; Ben Wallace played great for a guy with a huge fork sticking out of his back.
- Big contributions from Big Z, Wally, and Joe Smith too.
- On the Boston side, lots of people had moments, but nobody really stepped up the whole game.
- The bench didn't save us this time either.
- I can't find anyone to single out for this loss. It was a team effort.
- Just a horrible, horrible first quarter and then they just played us even the rest of the game.
- Need to come out stronger next game. ...well, obviously.
There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home.

Doc sucks. WHy is PJ Brown seeing any minutes? He’s soooo bad.
Why didn’t he play Rondo in the 4th? He had a good 3Q. Doc killing a young players confidence? Boy that’s news.. not.
KG is the only big 3 I can stand right now.
In fact, I only like 3 Celtics right now: Posey, Rondo, and KG.

If they don’t win their next game, IN CLEVELAND, I can’t see them winning even THIS series, let along the ‘World Championship’.
They play link DUNG on the road.
And even at home the last two games, they came out of the freezer for the start of each game.
Cmoney, come on, Doc doesn’t suck…way too simplistic.
They simply stink on the road…and it’s going to bite them in their collective bums.
They’d better show up Monday night, or I’m afraid it’s over.
I’ve said it a million times on this site, I’m not a basketball genius, but I mean COME ONE…have some stones on the road fellas.
It’s just not happening.
I agree with Jeff…..32-13 @ the end of Q1 leaves you too far behind on the road.
I terrible all around game by everyone. This team seems to go into laps of flow on the road. I’m afraid that the inexperience of Rajon is now starting to affect this team. Sam I am is not the relief pitcher we need to get the second unit going either. He’s circling the court without going north/south consequently other people isn’t getting the ball where they need it. He’s what he is a scoring guard.
Again I ask why doesn’t Powe get 20 minutes each game????
Looks like a repeat of the Hawks series unless we can re-group and play hard defense and move the freaking ball.
Cmoney, come on, Doc doesn’t suck…way too simplistic.
he puts in bad players over better players. He refuses to ride KG more minutes. I mean, just play Powe, KG, and Perk on the front line. If you need an extra body, it should really be Davis, NOT PJ. PJ is just a joke.
He absolutely destroys Rondo. In the post-game interview, he says nice things like “We gotta get Ray better looks.. we gotta get Rondo distrubting more”.. well you’re the coach. Quit running this stupid perimeter almost Princeton-style offense. Get Pierce on the block. Get KG on the block. Open it up so Rondo has some lanes.
He’s TERRIBLE.

This is the game Cleveland had the best chance to win and they did. It was ugly but it’s just one game. Also LeBron is the king of the floppers.

Rondo’s reluctance to take the open shot is affecting us greatly when the rest of the starters are in a funk. He has had plenty of open looks and instead of shooting he has dribbled into traffic which had a disrupting affect on the offense. He has to start taking them as he did during the regular season, not just to keep the defense honest, but also because he has shown that he can hit a high percentage of them.

Pathetic performance. Rondo killed this team by doing a terrible job running the offense, not playing good defense, missing easy layups and just simply not taking and making shots. Not trying to dump on Rondo, because I’m still behind the kid and he’s not the only one that played poorly. But he is the point guard, the guy who sets the tone and the team got off to a horrible start with him running the show and he’s not getting Ray and PP good shots.
What is it with these guys on the road?
For most of this series Wally (like J Van Gundy, I forgot how to spell his name)has outplayed Ray Allen, and that is a sad commentary on Allen. Wally is actually defending Ray better than Allen does with him.
The major problem – and why the Celtics will probably not even get to the finals – is that Rondo is not good enough. He is looking shakier by the game and Cassell will only bail him out every other game or so. Rondo will be a good point guard – not a great one – some year but he’s not effective at the most important position right now.

All the negativity on the site kills me. I actually prefer this loss to any of the Atlanta losses. This was not the C’s playing hard and still falling up short. Cleveland played well (they were due for some good shooting) and the C’s played poorly, what happened was what was supposed to happen. These Cavs aren’t that consistent and if we continue to contain Lebron in this way, his teammates will not be able to continually bail him out (they haven’t since the trade no need to think they will now) and we play better (that is the biggest if) it will be fine.
Things I do agree with: Rondo is not as good on the road and needs more help, and Eddie, not Sam is a better choice. They are packing the lane and double teaming KG, Rondo not passing on those 15 foot jumpers that they are giving him all day will open up the office so much more (even him missing them and us getting offensive rebounds is better than him driving to the lane and being shut out).

Rondo is not the problem. It is the way they use Rondo that is the problem. Anyone who has played basketball or any other sport for 15 minutes knows how hard it is to keep any type flow when you are sitting for 20 minutes at a time. Typical game. Comes out with 2-3 minutes to go in the first quarter and then comes back in around 5 minutes to go in the half. Put in the 3 minute break at end of quarter and multiple TV (3 minutes plus) timeouts and you have effectively frozen the player.
The way he has been yanked around it is a wonder he has any confidence at all. Doc is terrible with younger players, I doubt that this is news to anyone at this point. He just has a mental block when it comes to this and I don’t think he is capable of changing.
Rondo’s mistakes are trying to make something happen by driving to the hoop when it isn’t there. He does need to take the jump shot when it is open. If a few of those fall the rest will take care of itself. That doesn’t seem to be such a major adjustment.
I wish I would have taped last nights game because on at least three occasions Rondo man passed and cut week side. There was a switch between the guards and Rondo ended up on the other guard. For some reason the man he switched with didn’t bother to pick up his man on the weakside leaving Wally/West wide open for jumpers. Apparently Rondo is suppose to guard them both at the same time, while Ray goes out for coffee with Doc.
Just to be clear. I don’t think Rondo is a problem, so much as if he hits some jumpers and changes how he approaches offense (at least on the road) things will be easier for him, and the rest of the team by extension.

Rondo is simply afraid to take an open jump shot. He goes into the lane trying to make something happen—which ends up being taking a low percentage shot, instead of passing, or just shooting the open jumper. Ray has been invisible, and Pierce has his hands full guarding Lebron.
I agree that Powe needs more minutes—PJ I’m not fully convinced can give us what we need. I know Sam can get the job done, but as he gets older the consistentency goes. I’m a huge fan of Cassell and he’s proven what he can do.
If this team can’t win on the road, then they will indeed not win the title. You can’t just “rely on home” and get the title. These guys have been around long enough; they just have to get the job done.
