Intense Practice
Signaling that the team is fed up with the road woes, the Celtics took part in a very intense practice yesterday. Marc Spears reports:
By the sweaty jerseys, it was evident the players had put some work in scrimmaging. Guard Ray Allen said it was the most intense practice the team has had since before the playoffs.
Prior to practice, the Celtics only watched the first quarter of their Game 3 blowout loss. Guard Rajon Rondo, who has been struggling offensively, also shot for about an hour after practice.
Forward Paul Pierce said he is confident the Celtics will win tomorrow's Game 5 because of the hard practice they had today. He said the key is tough defense.

either way…it’s about time they started taking the road woes as seriously as it sounds they did at their practice yesterday. it’s gonna be a good game tonight.

Its time to shut up and win a road game. Its one thing to lose a close road game, but they have been blown out 4 times in a row. Its time to win this game. Otherwise the pressue will increase and we know Cavs are capable of winning in Boston.

A must win game for the Celtics. Not only to take control of the series, but also to silence the critics.
You knew the Cavs were going to have a bounce back game, especially with the team shooting the ball so poorly. That was game 3. But now it’s the C’s turn to bounce back with a road win. A must win in my eyes.
People have been talking tough on this website since Game 2 of the Atlanta series.
And it’s just not happening people.
They come out ICE COLD it seems almost every game, whether at home OR away.
I hope they win tonight…but somehow, I just can’t see it happening.
More Delonte, More Wally, More Iggy, More Joe Smith, More KING JAMES, more home town love from the refs, More woes for Boston, more tired legs due to their hard practice, more losses on the road.
Good luck green.
mcpu40, you have an interesting point about the home town love from the refs. Do you think that it has been going on a lot in the playoffs?
I haven’t seen too many games outside of the Celtics series, but there have been some questionable calls/no calls that have gone down. I know it is the NBA and all, and everyone has an bad opinion about refs, but it seems like they have been even worst than their stereotype this post season.
One more than one occasion I have seen refs “freeze” when making a call. A player drives to the basket, gets fouled and they go to put their had up to call a foul, but never blow the whistle. They just hope that no one saw them. It’s like they see the foul then realize, “wait a minute, that’s Kobe or Duncan or LeBron, I can’t call a foul on him.”
Not that I am blaming the officials for any Celtics loss, but you can’t help but to look at how they are working games this post season throughout the NBA and wonder what they are thinking.
These players are veterans. Everything we can think of or that has been said on talk radio, these guys were aware of before they went on the court. This is when coaching has to step up. If the players are out of synch, or the other team is hot…. Call time out, mix it up. Maybe Posey needs to replace Ray after 3 mins, or Powe for Perk right away. Big Baby put his body on Shaq and was quick enough to do well against other bigs during the year. Put him on Z. It’s easy to do on a blog, harder from the bench but I think Doc has to be pro-active and maybe a little nasty toward the players, otherwise he is an enabler of what they are caught up in.
Fox40 – yes, home love (IMO) from the refs happens.
Though I don’t think it is that which caused the C’s to lose Saturday night.
They stunk up the joint.
BUT, this home love can make, I’d say, and 6-8 point swing to the home team.
The C’s get the same calls at home.
You can hear the commentators talking about it all the time.
‘Oh, well they’re at home so they’ll get some love’ type of comment.
Like it’s no big thing or nothing’s wrong with it.
Like it’s a given that the home team will get some calls.
It’s pretty cruddy if you ask me, but it most definitely happens.
mcpu40, my friend, you are in for a big suprise.

I dont understand why we get sloppy on the defensive rotations when we play away, but I think they will be running a tight ship tonight. All will be focused, and on their toes. Hopefully that ship is not the titanic.

My six-year old son echoes Paul’s confidence. I am trying very hard to think like a six-year old.
