Roadkill Again
Ok, this road thing is officially a major issue. The series is all even now and we still haven't seen LeBron's best game.
There's no place like home.
There's no place like home.
There's no place like home.

We are a team of jump shooters. We don’t have to be, but we don’t appear to be intelligent enough to attack the rim. Multiple opportunities tonight to live at the foul line, but we’re soft and we’re dumb.
And we’ve got to find a center in the off-season. Perkins has been absolutely horrible in the last two games, and was THOROUGHLY outplayed by P.J. Brown tonight. He has to go in the off-season.
that game cost me a remote and a window..jkgjh

Wow! I’m speechless… well not really. I’m pissed!
Too much Cassell and not enough Rondo when he was finally playing well.
Too many jump shots in the 4th quarter.
And why the heck did Ray not get any shots after he started getting hot!
Perk was terrible again. We need our center to play well.
Ugh!
What’s wrong with this offense! >:(
To get beat twice in a row by this CAVS squad is an embarrassment. I gave the Celts the Lobel mulligan with the Hawks, now no excuses, they are what they are… and I’m sorry “there is no place like home” is just dopey at this point.

It was a great regular season and it’s been a long time since we have had that much fun for 6 months, but the run of this team is about over. It is just too hard for Pierce to defend Lebron all night and then have to score on him consistently. Unless Garnett decides he is just going to take it upon himself to take over offensively (shoot when he is open without hesitation and not deferring to P.J. Brown amoung others we are going to lose one at home eventually.
Our defense was decent, but offensively we are just lost and have been on the road the whole playoffs.
It’s been a good ride I think I can enjoy the rest at this point no matter what happens.
The THREE EL STINKO’s……
For 3 men who possess all this offense….??? what the bleep.. and on top of that we go from the youngest team to the oldest team….
Sam I Stink
Paully wants a cracker
Ray no see “Charles”
P.J. Brown is Charlie Brown
and
Kevin WHY ME !!!
I’m tired of this… really… I was pissed in the Atlanta Series and I’m still frustrated with this team
OH and lets not forget “Doc Do Little” The name fits him perfect…
Jeff you have my permission to use this LMAO
Okay, so PJ Brown makes 3 or 4 wide open shots. I don’t give a crap him and Big Baby should not of been in the fourth quarter so long. Doc wasted way too much time off the clock, by leaving in players that can’t produce offense.
Fire DOC and tell Pierce to stop playing like Antoine Walker.

again what bugs me is how small the big 3 have been in the last 2 games. garnett was invisible in the 2nd half and pierce struggled all night long. doc is clueless as to how to win a playoff game. where is the leadership from our star players. why is cassell playing? when pj brown is your best player you know you’re in trouble. i’m sick of these playoffs already. I loved the regular season but this has been a real downer.
Why the hell was KG not put back into the game until it was too late? Doc what the hell were you thinking? Paul and Ray have got to start showing up, there is no excuse for this kind of play. I see a team when it is on the road that plays with no smarts and no killer instinct. Why do they do nothing but jump shoot the whole freakn game? Attack the rim morons >:(
I don’t know why everyone is so taken aback. It’s not that easy to win on the road in the playoffs. Only the Pistons have won a game on the road in the second round. The Lakers and Hornets both just lost two in a row.
That said, there are problems with this team which I have detailed since the beginning. It starts with the lack of a quality point guard. Yes, Rondo has a chance to be very good at some point but he is not going to lead this team to the promised land in his second season. He is not Chris Paul or Deron Williams by any stretch of the imagination.
I’m not on the Fire Doc bandwagon, but I did think his insertion of Davis into the lineup at the start of the 4th quarter was wrongheaded. So what if Powe didn’t have the greatest moments in the first half. He’s been the first big off the bench for the second half of the season and should have been in there when the Celtics had the chance to do some damage against Cleveland reserves.
I also feel Eddie House should have been utilized instead of Cassell who was not only cold shooting but was getting beaten badly on defense. The best chance to free up Pierce and Allen is to put other shooters on the floor like House and Posey instead of Rondo and Perkins.
At any rate, until the Celtics drop one at home they’ll continue to advance. That’s the good news.

The other teams that are losing on the road are losing to teams that have won over 50 games, not 37 and now 45. I look for James to put the Cavs on his back and for the Cavs to win in 7.

People, it’s over. plain and simple. It’s over. D Antoni I believe got bounced in the first round. Well anyway, this was a run but the risk now is that with a maxed cap can we bring in anybody else? No we can’t. This was the risk we took making this trade. We will be competitive but we won’t win a championship. I don’t care who the coach is.
I think people are vastly overrating the difference between Boston and Cleveland. The Celtics are a team that simply played harder than every other team in the league during the regular season. They wanted it more and played with a chip on their shoulder. Now that the playoffs have rolled around, that advantage of just bringing it harder than the opposition is largely negated. Every team is giving it their all at this point. Look at what Dallas did last year when they came back refocused and hellbent on proving themselves in the regular season after their Finals collapse. It got them 67 wins, but they came crashing back to reality in the playoffs. They really weren’t as good as their regular season record seemed to indicate.
Boston has a great one-two punch with KG and Pierce, but neither are players who can really take over a game offensively in the 4th. Ray Allen is hyped quite a bit, but is he really backing that up with his play? The bench has proven to be shaky at best. Only Posey has been a consistent positive factor. Doc Rivers? Meh. This isn’t some juggernaut that can just mow down quality playoff teams like the 66 win regular season fooled some people into believing.
Boston, Detroit, and Cleveland are the best in the East and there is very little difference between them come post season. Cleveland and Detroit have played 13 playoff games the last two years and they have fought to a standstill despite Detroit being a far superior regular season club. The playoffs are a different animal. The sooner you realize that regular season and playoffs are two completely different entities, the better you can cope with what is going on.

I have to laugh at the idea that Boston is getting jobbed by the refs, which was mentioned on the podcast. Not a good sign when you start blaming the refs.
Thankfully, the next caller was insightful and shot that notion down.
It’ll be very interesting to how the Celtics come back after the Cavs evened up the series 2-2. The Cavs are far more experienced than the Hawks and will likely be ready to play on Wednesday. If the C’s come respond with a win, it will say a lot IMO.
I agree with redscoon: Celtics brought so much intensity every game and many NBA teams just don’t bring it every night in order to pace themselves. It’s just the nature of the NBA regular season – players often get picked on by the media but it’s almost impossible to go 100% for 82 games. The playoffs certainly are a different animal, every team is solid and understand they must bring it every night if they want to win.
Finally, Doc takes way too much heat. He’s not a phenomenal coach, but it’s tough to win without a superstar who can dominate the game. LeBron, even though he’s shooting importantly, simply controls the game. Same with Kobe, CP3, Duncan, etc. KG, Pierce, and Allen are all All-Stars who can play great, but don’t straight out dominate games (though KG appears almost at that level). Doc may have his faults, but rarely does a team like the Celtics win championships. The Pistons did without a superstar, but its quite rare.
And not only are the Big 3 not dominating players, all of them are borderline underachievers when it comes to the playoffs. It’s very possible they’ll get to the Finals and even win it, but it will be very tough.

The scary part of this Cleveland has a better bench then us right now and they will go into game 5 confident. Personally I would start with the same starting 5 but if any players are not able to play offense smoothly or cover their man I would sub quickly from now on. Pierce had his way with Pavlovic so keep him in when LeBron sits and play Posey 30 minutes a game. PJ did well last night and continue to play him more then Perk on Z and Perk should play against Varejao and Powe against Smith. Tony Allen should play in the away games he attacks the basket and if Pierce is in the game at the same time they have two people going to the basket. Where is Eddie House he can match Gibson on offense. Tony can stop Gibson and West. The series is even but Cleveland feels they can outplay the Celtics now.
live by the jump shot—but mostly die by it and we are watching them transpire. the perfect metaphor for the game was after paul makes the nice basket driving to the hoop and then the next time down the floor throws up a stupid three just after the ball advances into cav territory. collins correctly called it the hero shot and was implying that paul was one big moron. i also noticed in the beginning of the game that kg was getting the ball closer to the basket not out in the sticks where he was setting up late in the game. and doc is building his reputation for clueless subbing.
Shocked Jeff?
I’m not.
They stink.
They’re not anywhere NEAR as good as we thought they were.
I’ve never said it on this site, but Doc’s rotations here in the playoffs are stupid.
Sam Cassell is pretty lame, jacking 3’s.
Eddie House would do nothing different (though his may go in).
It’s just a sad state of affairs that they reeled us in like this.
66 wins, great road team and all…and they STINK on the road.
They BARELY won game 1 of this Cleveland series.
Had that Lebron lay in gone in, and overtime was forced, I’d assume they would’ve lost.
This series in my mind is over…now I’m thiking Cleveland in 6.
I can really see the Cavs coming to Boston tomorrow and pushing they C’s around.
I’d hate to see that happen with every fabric of my being.
But I’m a realist and it really can happen.
Cleveland is in the playoffs for a reason.
Lebron is regarded as the next Jordan for a reason.
And the Celtics are showing their age.
2nd round exit…
Jeff, I need more from you than this. I need a, “It’s Going to be Okay, Guys” or “Doc is a Bleeping Moron”, or “Why Paul Pierce is Shooting Completely Differently Than He Has in the Previous 10 Years of His NBA Career” type of article. “There’s no place like home” just isn’t going to cut it. How long have we been waiting for this team to shine? For me it’s been my whole life. I need to see some emotion this morning. I’m pissed off as I’m sure all of you are. We need you to voice the displeasure but bring us back to a happy place. You’re our pioneer now and we need you to diagram our mission forward. Please.
The Cs need to get some easy buckets in transition. They cannot
win scoring in the 80s. Unless they get the pace up to 95 or
100 points they will have problems with Cleveland. If they have
to press the Cleveland PGs to ratchet up the pace then that is
what they should do. I don’t trust Doc Rivers to make the adjustments that the team needs to make to get them over the hump in this series or the next. I hope the Cs come out in game
5 and really play hard. I don’t think the Cavs fear the Cs now,
if they ever did.
