David Stern Hates Smoke and Noise
SI.com is reporting that David Stern wants the NBA to look into the barrage of noise and smoke that have become common in arenas across the league. I'm confused by this story in the sense that I always think of David Stern as the NBA. If he wants something it's going to happen, right? More importantly he does have a point. I went to Boston's first home game against Detroit this season and left dazed. And it was not just because Chauncey Billups won it with a few late free throws. They assault you with noise and on the court activities throughout the evening.

I love it
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I love what the NBA does at games. Now, my only experiences are Celtics games and one Lakers game last season. But, I think it’s great. The Celtics don’t allow music or anything like that to get in the way of the actual play (which it seems like some buildings do). The introduction of the starters gets me really fired up.
I mean, something we all have to realize is that this is entertainment. We all really like to break down the games and we’d all be perfectly happy to spend top dollar to watch good teams play basketball against each other. But, I think there are a lot of people that go to these games for social reasons and for the entertainment of it. How many people do you see at these games that just get wasted and yell a lot and don’t pay attention to the game. I’d rather them not be there, but it’s a business.
