"A LeBron James Team..."
After the game, LeBron made a little proclamation: "A LeBron James team is never desperate." I sort of differ on that one, but his point is fair. There’s no doubt that he has personal confidence going and if the Cavs play they way they did at home in Games 3 and 4 on Friday then there is a lot more interesting basketball left. But the Cavs now have no room for error and this team makes a lot of mistakes even in the best of times.
There you have it people. LeBron is officially starting to talk in the third person. A Jeff Clark blog is always going to enjoy that.

I laughed at that quote as well.
I know this is irrelevant, but check out the “There Can Only Be One” banner at the top of NBA.com today…while the first shot of the Cs / Cavs promo has both KG’s and Lebron’s faces, BOTH sides of the face are Lebron’s the second time it comes up (after the Laker’s / Jazz shot). A subtle prediction on the part of the NBA.com’s marketing team?

Green17 loves quotes in the 3rd person. Highest of comedy.
I guess this explains why the Cavs offense appears to be 14 seconds of LBJ dribbling at the top of the key. You would never, ever, ever catch Kevin Garnett saying something dumb like that.

i know when they get that good part of what they need to sustain themselves is a narcissistic ego. lebron plays for the cavs; they don’t play for him. he deserves to be held to ridicule for that statement even though it probably means he is trying to hold himself responsible. maybe we should call the team the cleveland crybabies for all of lebron’s flops and hand to face gesticulations and we can have his mother be the coach. or create a new nba logo with lebron holding his face and his mom pointing a finger.

CoachBo feels strongly that third-person commentary masks a deep-seated fear and insecurity.

Eeyore III has always held up to ridicule people who speak of themselves in the third person, and when Eeyore III hears a jock who doesn’t even know the difference between the first person and the third person do it, Eeyore III always thinks it’s particularly pathetic.

I love that, so true.
Using your name in the third person is just a way to avoid saying “I” and there is not I in team.

I thought that was the dumbest quote I have heard in a while and show that Queen James doesn’t get it. Go talk to Jordan or Bird or Russell and ask them if their teams were ever “desparate”. I bet they would all say yes. You don’t think the Celtics weren’t desparate in Game 4 of the 84 finals? You don’t think the Bulls weren’t desparate during some of those Knicks series? Absolutel they were. That is what made them great; the absolute desparation to win and fear of losing. Tonight is win or go home. If the Cavs don’t play with a sense of desparation, the Celtics are going to run them.
I liked Labron until this series. I have lost a lot of respect for him. His constant whining at the refs. He lousy jump shooting and utter dependence on favorable treatment in the lane to score. Now his totally unearned arrogance. They have all combined to really get on my nerves. I suppose if LaBron had you know actually won something I could respect this statement. But as it is, he has never won anything and is playing an elimination game.

What i make of his silly statement is maybe LB is not desperate to win..
“a LB team is never desperate because if we loose it’s no big deal.”
I believe his turn will come but not this year when he becomes a player with a jumpshot.

He has never developed a jumpshot because he is so arrogant to believe that the refs will bail him out and give him favorable treatment. Sadly, sometimes (if not most of the time) he is right. I wish the refs would call everything equally. As a superstar you should know how to play the game the right way, not flop your way to the line to get a cheap foul call. It disgusts me.
