O Captain! my Captain.
Forget a recap. If you're on this blog you watched the game and saw it all.
PAUL PIERCE IS THE TRUTH. 41/4/5 in the biggest game of his life.
Bring on the Pistons. See you Tuesday in the Chat Room.
(Oh and Eddie House. 2 Billion Tommy Points for you).

Pierce was incredible but a lot of credit to Doc rivers and staff. The rotations were solid, both House and PJ provided the spark that this team desperately needed. Bring on Detroit.

If Eddie House got 2 billion Tommy points then P.J. Brown deserves upwards of 5 billion. I will be handling the negotiations.
Has anyone seen Ray Allen lately? Hopefully he shows up to the game on Tuesday.
One.

pierce carried us today. without him we lose by 20. ray allen was mia again and garnett while rebounding well did not have a huge game. eddie and pj were juge. rondo played a decent second half but played poor D on west the entire game. eddie shut delonte down but rondo contiuously was beaten off the dribble by delonte, Perk played with passion but comitted his usal assortment of stupid fouls. that guy just doesn’t learn from his mistakes. posey was ok. in the next series I would like to see tony allen get some minutes. ray allen needs to getin therarpy
To me the defining moment of the game for Pierce was the jump ball late in the 4th quarter. The Cavs had a jump ball between Big Z and either Possee or House. The Cavs had all the advantages on a key possession. Pierce cut in front of James and dived for the ball, got it on the floor, and managed to call a time out before anyone could tie him up. It was a pure effort play late in the fourth quarter of a game seven with the season on the line and Celtics up by three. It wasn’t a question of talent or luck. It was pure effort and who wanted it more. When it came time for the nut cutting, Pierce wanted it more than queen James. He just had more desparation than James. All those years of losing and irrelevent made getting that ball mean more to Pierce than it did to James and Pierce got it. That is the difference in the game. It just meant more to Pierce and Garnett than it did to the chosen one.

This game was an instant (ESPN) classic – the Pierce/James duel reminded me of Bird/Dominique – but only in this game, the stars were guarding each other! Incredible.
As one of the biggest Perkins haters in the world, I’m glad Perk (8 points, 1 rebound!!) got in foul trouble/proved himself useless, presenting the opportunity for PJ Brown to soak some significant minutes (20). PJ was great out there on both sides of the ball, fulfilling his role to perfection.
Eddie House was the sparkplug off the bench – what a save he made when he ran the length of the court and dove for the ball, tipping it to Posey. Great to see him take advantage of his opportunity.
That said, expect to see more Cassell against Detroit – more Glen Davis as well. His low center of gravity and ambidextrous herky-jerky post moves are good match against the shot blockers of Detroit (Prince, McDyess, Maxiell) – Baby should be drawing fouls left and right. I can’t wait.
Rondo put up an incredibly quiet yet solid effort with 8/8/8 – his shooting was off but it was good to see him contributing.
Dear, Ray Allen: Please show up to the next series. Signed, the managment.
Last note: Paul Pierce chose a great time to come out of offense hibernation. What a great game.
2 down, 2 to go.
JohnCK – it was actually Rondo/Doc that called the timeout – Pierce tried to but didn’t have the chance as he was quickly swallowed up by the Cavs.
Forgot to mention – Doc and the coaching crew were fabulous. Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but I distinctly remember a bunch of occasions where I thought Doc made the right move, even before the result was realized.
We are all witness to the Truth!!!!!!!!

Now that we are past Stern’s messiah, I like our chances a lot more. The officials are a lot less likely to determine the outcome of the game moving forward. Unless not as totally biased as they were with with the messiah on the court. What a disgrace the officiating of this one player has turned into. 3-4 step travels. Rewarded for flopping and flailing and outright faking. I gained a lot of respect for Paul for keeping focused throughout the series in spite of the obvious.
Garnett for the most part stayed inside throughout the game. Even though he didn’t hit every inside shot, the fact that he didn’t defer in the last minutes was great. House, Brown, and Posey showed why Danny went after them.
