Rip - Strained Elbow
Detroit Bad Boys has the update on Rip Hamilton (from the Globe's press conf. transcript):
COACH FLIP SAUNDERS: Rip strained a right elbow. It’s sore a little bit. We’re going to have to wait and see how it is tomorrow and how it is in 48 hours. He got a little bit of, I think, hyperextended in there on the rebound on that one defensive sequence that we had. He was great again tonight, especially in the last three quarters. Hopefully he’s going to be ready to go for us.
Chris Silva of the Free Press reports that X-rays taken after the game were negative and Rip will receive treatment between now and Game 6.

What’s more irritating was that the ESPN announcers - i usually really like Breen/MJax/JVG -- watched the replay several times and NONE of them made mention that RIP had HIS HAND on Ray Allen’s THROAT!
I mean c’mon…. I hope his career is cut short.

reminds me of LeBron acting like he’s hurt and then sprinting down the court for a jam. I don’t buy this at all. Flip is a whiner and has already made several innuendos about the reffing which is ironic considering that his team fouls on every play. One more tech and Rasheed is done for the season. Game 6 will be a monumental struggle no doubt but hey isn’t it better to be up one game than down one game at this point? yeah it wasn’t pretty but we got the W. My biggest concern right now is the lack of bench production. I would almost consider activating Pruitt instead of Veal. He’s a rookie but he can at least give us a few minutes of defense and hopefully not turn the ball over like Cassell.
I’m convinced that Hamilton is the one of the most sly referee-manipulating players going. He is always getting away with holding his player or flopping for a foul. Did anyone buy that so-called eye poke? I’m glad they had to give up a time out for it. Watch what happens when he’s flying around their double picks if you want to see Ray getting punished. I do have to hand it to them though, I can’t see why the Cs can’t run the same plays.

Rip has been there best player this series and they’re only consistent scorer in the halfcourt. They need him to play and to play at high level to have any chance for the rest of this series.
Rip’s also been their best shooter. Prince hasn’t hit anything. Stuckey doesn’t have a jump shot yet. They’re going to get a lot easier to defend if Rip isn’t out there. The Celtics will be able to sag off and help a lot more without being punished.
The Celtics weren’t the chokers last night- Rip was.
