Revenge will be had...
A thoroughly egregious call:
NBA Officiating....its FAAAAntastic.
Note this doesn't excuse the complete lack of execution in the last 20 seconds with Ray's ill-advised three pointer, Rondo being stuck without a passing option as time rapidly ticked down, and everything else that has gone wrong in Atlanta...
(hat tip to Odenized for the clip)

The announcer has a great question during this clip:
‘How did this team win only 37 games’.
A better question could be:
‘How did the other team win 66 games’.
My questions are:
A: Why did Rondo not play more minutes
B: Why oh why did Ray Allen take that stupid 3-pointer at the end
C: Why should we think the Celtics have a chance tomorrow.
Pathetic loss(es) in Atlanta.
Convincing wins in Beantown.
They ‘should’ win tomorrow, but again, I won’t be shocked if they don’t.
Sad and disappointed yes.
Shocked, nope.
Not with the silly decisions they’ve made so far in their three losses.
No reason to think it won’t happen on the road for Atlanta.
It’s funny that atlanta fans think officiating is horrible as well. i was reading their blogs, and they all complainting about the bad calls just like here.

As bad as officiating in the NBA can get, you still need to keep your composure. That call may be BS but the technical was not, that’s an automatic for throwing a headband.
Whining and playing angry and letting the refs get in your head makes me just as mad, if not moreso, than bad calls. Our boys have put on a clinic of that attitude when things haven’t fallen their way this series. Shake it off and rise above it, it’s not like the chances to win didn’t present themselves eventually.
I’m sorry, folks. But one bad call didn’t lose this game.
Allen has taken a lot worst shots than that in crunch time and made them. Paul had already had his adolescent moment and was out. The fact that Garnett refuses to shoot in crunch time makes it too obvious who’s going to take that shot.
It isn’t the officiating that’s beating us. Garnett is yapping and yapping and playing scared offensively. Paul is, as usual, melting down in the playoffs. Neither is taking the ball inside so they’re not drawing calls. Incidentally, we also have the NBA’s worst coach. That doesn’t help either.
Problem is, Garnett’s opponent is used to winning championships. Horford is playing like he’s used to being there. Garnett is playing like somebody who’s about to be pulled if he makes a mistake. Garnett has a bigger mouth and more skills. Horford has championship experience and a bigger heart. At least that’s what it looks like to me.

When I was watching the game, I almost kicked in my TV when this play happened. But now watching this clip, I see that the call was for Pierce hugging Zaza from behind to keep him away from the rebound. It was a lazy play by Pierce, when he should have hustled and blocked out. So I can’t really complain about this particular call.
That being said, I agree that the officiating in the 3 losses has been horrible. Basically the refs are letting the Hawks play like the Pistons. Zaza constantly slaps at Garnett’s arms and head when KG has the ball, and there’s no call. Celtics are constantly driving and getting knocked to the floor, no call. At the other end, there’s all kinds of silly reach in calls where there’s barely any contact.
I hate to complain about the refs, but it really does make a difference. Just like the Hawks shotblocking gets in the Celtics heads, the way the game is ref’d affects how aggressive the players are. If the refs let you play like the Pistons, you will do it, and if they call every tiny contact, you will back off. It affects a game just like the strike zone in baseball. It’s not a matter of individual calls adding or subtracting points, it changes the whole way the teams play.

I’d have to say the best part of that video is seeing the blonde behind Doc for a split second….
I was going to post the same thing. She’s been at each of the games in Atlanta, and has been worthy of more screen time than what was on the court. She appears to be with some guy in a baseball cap. Should I recognize him? I’m assuming he’s rich, based on the seats and the company, but is he famous? Usually a playoff push and some success brings out the high-profile “fans,” but the coverage hasn’t mentioned anyone at these games. Don’t the Hawks have any bandwagon jumpers of their own?

I agree with dooyork on the Pierce foul and his more general observation on the officiating. And it’s had a telling effect in the each of the tight games in Atlanta. The Hawks have been levitated by home crowds that they’ve never experienced before, and their athleticism when they have confidence has given Boston problems in Atlanta. Now the pressure of a seventh game for the Celtics, that Atlanta can play free of may make game seven tough. But if they can win game seven, the next series may very well take on a chemistry of its own and not have much to do with the problems they’ve had with Atlanta.
A number of key Celtics players have no playoff experience, and some of their performances have shown it, especially on the road. And others like Cassell and PJ Brown haven’t had time to really fit in well. But I have seen improvement, especially from Powe, that bodes well, if they move on.

lobstermobster, one bad call didnt lose the game!! Did you watch the game, sub .500 Atlanta had 47 free throws, there were late whistles whenever the ball
woudnt go down but would rim out. there was about 10 out of control charges that the young hawks got bailed out of and instead of obvious turn overs they got free throws , they got free throws when the celtics would rebound a miss and the hawks would get an away from the ball call on it. 47 free throws is a whole lot of calls. And most of them were very bad.
A 66 win team with 3 allstars and a defensive player of the yr and a 2nd team all defensive player, should crush a sub .500 team when the officiating is equal , hmm like they did 3 times in Boston with ft only favoring the hawks in the upper single digits.
please go back and watch the game and be as objective as possible. look at the plays like when pp got flattened and chipped his tooth and he got one of his early fouls and the hawks got freebees. look how the whistles went the entire game
the refereeing in atlanta has definitely screwed up the way we play. every time we go inside, we get hacked, but never get any calls. this is a consistent trend in those 3 games…if you’re getting hit, making it very hard to make those shots, you stop shooting them. plus, all the touch fouls on the other end are ridiculous and are making us play much softer defense…anything more aggressive, we’ll get called for fouls. so yeah, i think the refs in atlanta have totally screwed up the way we play. we look like two completely different teams in boston vs. in atlanta. admittedly, we’ve played pretty bad down there, but i think a lot of that has to do with the way our players are playing on offense and defense based on the way the calls have gone. all our losses are by just a few points – imagine what would happen if the hawks got called for contact just a few more times, or we got called for touch fouls (or non-fouls) a few less times? that’s right, the series would have ended in 5 or 6. stern the dictator’s nba is becoming a joke for its officiating, and this series is the epitome of it. watch, we’ll get all the calls in game 7. the conspiracy theorist in me says the league wanted this to go 7 for the ratings (and look, EVERYONE is talking about this series), but absolutely want the c’s to win and advance (a celtics-lakers final would be insanely profitable). since they can’t directly intervene, they do it through the refs.
