17 Thank You’s
I can't even begin to describe how good this feels. One emotion is simply "thankful." So here's 17 thank you's (not nearly enough) for some of the people that made it happen.
- Thank you Danny Ainge (and Kevin McHale) for pulling off "the Trade."
- Thank you Wyc and the rest of the owners for cutting the check.
- Thank you Doc Rivers for standing strong through all the criticism and proving everyone wrong.
- Thank you Rajon Rondo for stepping up into the starting role and making the leap.
- Thank you Big Game James for having a flair for the dramatic and a nose for the ball.
- Thank you Kendrick Perkins for being a beast.
- Thank you Leon Powe for being an inspiration on and off the court.
- Thank you Eddie House for instant offense.
- Thank you Big Baby Davis for making us laugh and cheer you on.
- Thank you Tony Allen for fighting through multiple season ending injuries to play your role.
- Thank you Sam Cassell for providing veteran leadership and encouragement.
- Thank you Brian Scalabrine, Scot Pollard, and Gabe Pruitt for waving towels and being good teammates.
- Thank you Ray Allen for the sweetest jump shot ever.
- Thank you Kevin Garnett for dominating on defense and setting the tone all year.
- Thank you Paul Pierce for all the years of being our Captain and for seeing it through in a big way.
- Thank you Red Auerbach for creating the winning tradition that we enjoy to this day.
- And a very special thank you to all the fans and readers of this blog for all your support and enthusiasm. Thank you to my wonderful wife and to all my friends and family. Thank you everyone.
Update: I knew I'd forget someone. Thank you PJ Brown for the veteran leadership and solid backup minutes. That's one too many thank you's. I guess we'll just have to go out and get Banner 18 now!

17 More Thank Yous:
- Thank you Mike and Tommy. As fun as it is to watch the national media come around, you guys are in the inner circle.
- Thank you Gary and Greg. I remember when it was just you two in studio, without a nice set, sitting in front of a gift-shop Celtics flag, enthusiastic then as you are now. You used to annoy the crap out of me. You guys are inner circle as well.
- Thank you to JB, Jughead and the Duke. I listened to every show this year. If Rondo made the leap, then you guys made THE LEAP. (Though, no one will ever have to tell JB to be more aggressive.)
- Thank you to Tom Thibodeau. Not to discredit Doc, but, like, duh.
- Thank you to Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Delonte West, Theo Ratliff, Jeff Green and players to be drafted later.
- Thank you to Phil Jackson, for not taking us seriously until your team was down 23 at the half in an elimination game.
- Thank you to Kobe Bryant, for making us perceived underdogs.
- Thank you to everyone at ESPN (except Tim Legler) for buying into the hype.
- Thank you to Jeff freakin’ Clark. (And Steve and everyone who threw themselves into this.)
- Thank you to Matt Damon, for showing some Celtic Pride in the lion’s den.
- Thank you to the Patriots and the Red Sox who ushered us back into the Champion’s Club, which we founded in the first place.
- Thank you to Eddie Lacerte and the rest of the training staff for holding us together through what could have been a tragic run of injuries.
- Thank you to Brandon Wallace, Esteban Batista, Dante Jones and Jackie Manuel. Thanks for trying. It seems insignificant now, but some of us remember you pushing for spots in the summer and in Europe. You made us just a little bit better.
- Thank you to Bill Simmons. Yeah, I said it.
- Thank you to Ray Allen’s sleeve. I guess this should be directed at Rip Hamilton and his fingernails, but there’s magic in that nylon.
- Thank you to Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, and Mike Breen (but really just Jeff and Mark). You’re no Mike and Tommy, but you’re no slouches either.
- Thank you to Grande and Max. I don’t listen to your broadcasts. I do listen to Sean on CSL and I look forward to his contributions to celtics.com. I hear Max on The Big Show, and despite his blaspheming the Legend, I like him. He’s a homer, too. And that’s good enough for me.
Just my addendum.
I was going to start an ‘official thank boston celtics and co’ thread, but since you’ve started it and written pretty much all I’ve wanted to, I thank you Jeff. I thank all the Boston Celtics, management, trainers coaches and everyone involved with the organisation. And of course for Celticsblog and all the bloggers, although we have different opinions at time, we share the same interest. Thank you for a place where I can talk to fellow Celtics fans as most of my mates are lakers fans. And also thank you for the Boston crowd, for the chants and songs, especially “la la la la, hey hey hey, goodbye”-this one brings me good memories due to personal reasons. Thank you.
Thank you Jeff!
And thanks to all the writers and bloggers on this site.
What a season. Just incredible.

Thanks Jeff. This blog was a fun place to vent and kvetch when
things in past seasons didn’t go like we fans wanted. It was extremely enjoyable this season. Thanks again for a job extremely well done.

Ad Don’t forget PJ Brown for being a dependable guy off the bench who deserved this ring as much as the next guy!

I add my thanks to CelticsBlog which chronicled the entire pre-season, season and post-season in a totally professional and rabid Celtic fans manner. CelticsBlog is a part of the Celtics celebration. I also cannot think of greater fans than those who write/post in this blog. Incredible. PRIDE is back in Beantown for the greatest NBA team of all time- our Boston Celtics.

THANK YOU BOSTON CELTICS. To the Celtics ownership who cared about the fans, cared about the City and cared about the Legacy. You guys made sure you surrounded yourselves with people who were as passionate about winning as You and all the Celtics fans are. It all starts from up there. Thank you for enabling this franchise and bringing back the Glory to the Celtics.
Lets give a standing ovation to the ESPN Guys for igniting the fire under our bellys.
Lets salute our past comrades because without them Banner 17 wouldnt be raised today….
Gary Payton, because of him Ray Allan wouldnt be traded to Seattle.
A. Walker, for getting La Frenz who happens to be included in a trade for Ratliff who happens to be included in a trade for KG.
Ricky D., for getting Wally. (also for his Buckets!)
Wally Z., for getiing Jesus.
Mark Blount, for being Obnoxious.
Big Al, for his breakout season 2 years ago.
The C’s have to use their mid-level to re-sign House and Posey, right? The mid-level should be around 6 million this year. Maybe they could get Posey for a 3-year, 12 mil deal starting at 3.5 mil and Eddie for a 3-year, 9 mil deal, starting at 2.5 mil. They’re both reasonably young that they should still be effective in three years. Then they can try to re-up Tony on the cheap, maybe a 3-year, 5 mil deal. They can sign a vet big man like Kurt Thomas or Ratliff to the minimum and take the best player available in the draft, even someone they can stash in Europe or South America, like the Spurs did with Splitter last year. Hopefully, Pruitt has improved enough that he can play point for ten mins a night. Basically, I think the C’s could be in great shape, but if House and Posey take off, they’ll have problems filling out their roster with quality players…
I echo everyone’s sentiments in thanking Jeff and everyone else at CelticsBlog for creating a great site where hardcore fans could go to get their fix of all things Celtics, whether it’s news, opinion pieces, or just to chat on the message board with other fans. Great site, great season, great team, Green 17!
