Notes: No Surgeries Planned
Marc Spears reports that nobody expects to get surgery in the offseason:
Ainge said no players have had X-rays since the Celtics won their 17th NBA championship Tuesday night and that the players probably will be evaluated next week.
"There is nothing serious that we know of," Ainge said. "There is nothing serious or urgent we have to deal with for the next couple of days. As far as we know, there is no need for surgeries."
That's nice and all, but just to be safe, lets get Paul's knees checked out thoroughly, shall we?
Also, a couple of quotes from players regarding their impending free agency:
Said House: "I haven't even thought about [free agency]. I'm going to enjoy the festivities right now and cross that bridge when we get to it."
Cassell said, "I'll be back."
If Sam really is back, I hope a whole training camp of learning the offense will somehow curtail his habit of jacking up shots 10 seconds into the shot clock.

“I’ll be back.”
Ugh. I knew this week couldn’t be all good news.

mixed emotions on Sam’s comment…
I would rather James Posey said this ;)

maybe he meant as an assistant coach! We have a Big Man coach. Why not have a Little Man coach?

At this point I’m not 2nd guessing what Danny and Doc do with Sam, although I hope the point guards next year are Rondo backed by Eddie and Pruitt. Eddie for the energy, chemistry and spread the floor shooting and Pruitt for what looks to me like young NBA talent. I doubt there will be a better PG prospect at #30 than him this year.
I think that we can get a discount re-signing Posey but he’ll get a big raise one way or other.
Pollard isn’t worth much given his shaky health and I hope PJ retires on top. Thus I’d look for a long big in draft. Euros seem too soft but there is a long french kid who keeps coming up as a name.
I would bring back Tony Allen. I don’t think the NBA has seen the best of him so why let someone else cash in.
This NBA trophy was built A LOT on the chemistry and the only guy who looked like he needed retirement was Sam so I would try and get them all back. I hope Leon isn’t free agent yet.

If Sam wants to return as a coach, that would be great, but I cringe at the thought of him returning as a player.
I would much rather give Gabe some of Sam’ leftover minutes next year.
