Thank You PJ Brown

All signs point to PJ Brown retiring from basketball (though there's always a chance he could show up on someone's roster for another late season run). So this is a good chance for me to give him a virtual hug and wish him happy trails.
PJ was exactly what the Doc ordered in terms of being that veteran, calming presence in the post. He defended about as well as you could ask someone his age to (maybe better). And who could forget that huge shot he made in the Cleveland series. At times when Perkins was out with foul trouble or injury, he was critical to the team's success. There were games that I'm not sure we would have won without PJ.
He was only around for a short time, but he made a real contribution to this team's title. So thank you PJ Brown.

Thank you PJ, I’ve always respected you as a player and person, when you became a Celtic, I was happy, but now I couldn’t be happier that you walk away from the game with a ring.

I’m happy for the ring PJ got. He was so often in the playoffs and I think it was ridiculous that this hard-nosed role player never got to win the finals. He won’t regret signing with us in March. Thank you PJ!

bringing in pj was classic celtics basketball— it was like red bringing in clyde lovelette or wayne embry, or snowshoes mel counts. pj has gotten what he finally wants, the title. i don’t see him as a greedy guy wanting more. i think his sneakers are hung up for good, and he lives in celtic lore.

In a lot of classic movies, there’s some crafty, wise old veteran that plays a key role in enabling a team of people to reach some difficult goal. P.J. Brown was that guy for the Celtics.
Was there ever a Celtic who put a more significant positive mark on the team’s history in less time?

I would like to have PJ back IF it were for the full year. A real CLASS act. But if he were to try to come back like he did this year (halfway thru the season), I’d say No Thanks. It took him a LONG time this year before he was productive and a year older for sure won’t help.
