Free throws: The Celtics have 16 players on their training camp roster and no more will be added, general manager Danny Ainge said. Sam Cassell and newcomer Darius Miles do not have guaranteed contracts. Even so, the Celtics might waive another player with a low contract or make a trade to accommodate both Cassell and Miles (the roster limit is 15). "We've got a month to find out," Ainge said
Also, most likely not related to the Celtics...
An Eastern Conference executive said don't be surprised if a notable trade or two is made during the preseason. We say keep an eye on Marbury, Nets forward Vince Carter, Heat forward Shawn Marion, Nuggets guard Allen Iverson, and Warriors forward Al Harrington

Wouldn’t mind trading Scal and someone out west for Al Harrington for a backup SF spot would help us with the 3’s the Posey made

Wait I’m confused I don’t remember us actually offering Cassell a contract. Originally I thought if we made a trade it would involve BBD or Powe, but with Perk not being healthy during camp I think we have to keep both. I think unless Pruitt really shines in camp him and Scal should go. You don’t need youth at the pg position when you already have Rondo.
It would appear that despite the unavailability of Darius Miles for the first 10 games (i.e., his “drug” suspension) that he is being seriously considered for making the team. Earlier reports by both Ainge and Cassell mentioned that Sam’s signing was imminent (whatever that means).
I still believe that if Darius remains healthy through the preseason and if Cassell is signed then Gabe Pruitt is history.
