A Couple Of Rumors
Zach Randolf for Darko and Marko (Ronald Tillery)
Any potential Memphis deal involving New York forward Zach Randolph is now in the Knicks’ court from what I’m told. The Griz will agree to a package that includes Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric going to the Knicks for Randolph. But Griz brass apparently wants the Knicks to pick up more of the deferred payments owed Randolph in the latter year of his contract.
New York executives supposedly are deliberating. Randolph is owed $14.6 million, $16 million and $17.3 million over the next three seasons.
In short, this seems to be a 50/50 proposition – a scenario that bears watching until the start of the regular season.
Tinsley and Daniels for Al Harrington (Matt Steinmetz)
I’ve seen the Warriors linked to the Indiana Pacers in a deal involving Jamaal Tinsley, Al Harrington, among others. Not out of the realm of possibility. But don’t count out Warriors interest in Marquis Daniels, just the kind of lovable swingman Don Nelson has an affinity for. This isn't the first time the Warriors have sniffed around there. Nelson's more than comfortable with Daniels, whom he coached for two seasons in Dallas.

I think that looks like a good deal for the Knicks financially. Frees up something like $10M in cap space in 2010.

Any removal of Z-Bo looks like a sound move for the Knicks to me. Here’s hoping it doesn’t happen.

Can’t see either deal happening.
At the end of the day, Memphis won’t touch that contract.
Chris Mullin is a walking time bomb so he adds some confusion with his irrational thinking … but GSW shouldn’t take on that extra year of payroll that they’d be accepting with Tinsley, it would ruin all their current chances of being a player in 2010 Free Agency. Lose that chance and the franchise is in a horrific position.

If Wallace is willing to do that to a young team, team ownership should take him away in a straitjacket.
Memphis already has had a well-behaved version of Randolph. A consistent 20/10 guy who may be the only player in NBA history who would qualify as a worse defensive PF than Randolph.
Hopefully for their sake, Memphis ownership remembers Sharif Abdur-Rahim and how much they won playing 4 against 5 defensively. On the court, they’re pretty much the same player.
Money aside, this seems like a lousy trade for both teams. But a lot worst for Memphis.

He’s been unable to play in a system his whole career, you can’t control him so that he scores off the bench.
