Various Rumors
Three NBA executives say that the Golden State Warriors are pushing Corey Maggette hard in trade talks. Other players that executives say are available include Philadelphia 76ers center Sam Dalembert, Charlotte Bobcats guard Raymond Felton and forward Adam Morrison, Chicago Bulls forward Drew Gooden and guard Larry Hughes and Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller
Note: I don't think any of these guys have a legit shot at heading to Boston, but it helps to keep an eye on the market movements. ....actually, I'm not sure what it helps, but somehow I need to know these things and I like passing them along to you because I know a lot of you need to know too.
Happy New Year

Also in trade news, Brian Scalabrine is available… as is the ghost of Vin Baker.

There are a few chips there that would interest me. Anything we can afford?

So teams are pushing bad or underachieving players with bad contracts. What else is new?
With the exception of Felton, who has been a disappointment, the Celtics do not have the salaries to get any of those players without either trading one of the big three or completely decimating the bench.

You know,
looking at what’s out there and at what price, turns out Posey would have been a bargain. sigh….. Sorry to beat a dead horse, but damn!
Anyway, I think Larry Hughes would be great for our bench to replace Tony Allen. Makes too much money though.

Larry hughes? are you kidding?
Anyways I agree with Posey, he was a perfect fit for this team in every way shape and form, and its just annoying to have to pretend we dont miss him

Salary doesn’t match – You would have to offer Scal – Chicago wouldn’t listen -
Here’s one for fantasy – Ray for Kamen and Camby

Is the verdict in on OBryant?
Doc mentions needing “length” and there is length at end of bench. I very much want to believe that POB is another Danny steal and he hasn’t looked like a stiff when he’s out there in garbage time but how else can we view his DNP’s other than as a verdict.
Anybody like Stromile Swift for length?

Magette for a song
The ONLY reason GS might not hang up the phone is that they’ve already soured on Magette, and he’s got a fairly expensive 5 year contract they’d like to get out from under. This worked on trade checker:
Scal, Tony, Giddens, Sam, and cash (3 mil of Wyc’s money) for Magette.
Scal, Tony and Giddens all expire after next year. Sam, this year. They’d just cut Sam immediately.
Not much in it for them other than a pure salary dump, and I suspect they could do much better than this package if they had a mind to trade Magette.
If they had any interest in Baby, I’d send him instead of (or in addition to) Giddens.
Not likely, but Magette would sure solve a lot of offensive problems on the second unit.
