Marbury Close to Deal
ESPN reported that Stephon Marbury is close to a deal with the Celtics. The only problem is he would have to be willing to sign for the minimum seeing as theres not much cap in the organization. And on top of it Marbury would have to get out of the Knicks and hope his contract his payed off. I think if his attitude stays in check and he is willing to be a 6th man who will actually pass the ball (a new concept for him), he would be a good addition.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

yes they did
they traded their pick ray allen for marbury that year and i think kg had some influence on tha decisison. i wonder if kg did regret it because the celtics getting ray allen was the thing that got him to nod to sign with the celts. lay off on the marbury deal danny. get another big. you still have cassel and pruitt on the bench

Starbury is nuts
But if he acts up, you simply cut him. No harm. No foul.

And..
..it sounds like before they do anything, they’d get the players’ okay on it.

i dont like marbury, but he could function similar to cassell last season to provide the immediate offense off the bench. but i worry he will also be like cassell who shoot first, even if no shot was there.
the problem is whether he would be willing to play within the team so as to increase his value for a new contract next year.
unless pruitt gets more minutes as thepg, the second unit still does not have an good passer to get the other players more involved.
but as timepiece said, if marbury acts up even once, cut him.

This will not work and will be a HUGE distraction
The “no harm no foul just cut him” theory is flawed. The man is a cancer. The celtics work on chemistry NO ONE in sports, not even TO , has a such a complete record of selfish BS and a trail of team destruction as this clown. The celtics don’t need the distraction and there is no reason to believe that this chump can play on a second team as a role player without being a huge problem. He scores thats it and on every team where he has scored a lot the team has been bad. He can’t play D. There is way to much downside to add this guy to a team that is in first place and does not need to gamble.

100% correct
Look at the recent losses while the Celts are just considering signing him. Imagine what will happen if they actually DO!

it would be wonderful
if the celtics traded tony allen for sean williams and signed marbury midseason. they would catapult the team into disarray so fast your head would spin clean off. i would laugh about it until the cavs won in the finals this year. and lebron signs a huge contract in two years with the cavs a finals candidate each year. i wouldn’t like that. i would hate that.
so i guess just go out there and get travis outlaw.

Marbury
I am not even a Celtic fan but will tell you DO NOT sign this guy. He is not the solution to your bench problems. I would love for you to take another none chemistry guy from our Clippers so young people like Eric Gordon can grow. Danny please call Mike Dunleavy before signing Marbury!
