Another Rumor: Robert Horry

From the Sacramento Bee:

Boston is shopping to upgrade the bench, especially up front. Brown is a possibility as a second-half addition again. Robert Horry – after previously saying he would consider playing only for the Spurs, Rockets or Mavericks because they are likely playoff teams close to his Houston home or Orlando because he could take his kids to Disney World – has not ruled out the Celtics.

Since when is

PJ still a possibility? Didn’t he officially retire and say he wasn’t coming back?

And, I don’t like the Horry idea. He was horrid last year for the Spurs. The guy is done.

I told you guys...

I hate to be the “I told you so” type, but it’s a fact that there’s been dialogue between Horry with Boston (as well as several other teams), as I had stated here.

And BTW – before Steven Hunter went down with the serious injury, Celtics WERE talking about trading for him. You guys have read my posts; I don’t make stuff up.

he claims to have a source inside the C's

he’s posted a few rumors in the past

I don’t know for sure if he’s legit, but so far he has cooperated with the mods to make sure he doesn’t cause trouble on the forums, so I have no issues with him

just take with a grain of salt and treat the rumors as you would any rumor

Horry And AInge

Wasn’t there a quote from Horry along the lines of “Has the GM changed or something?” in reference that Ainge is still there so Horry probably won’t be.

Reporter: About a year ago I asked about the Celtics-Lakers thing and you said you'd really only seen it on TV. Now you've been through it, can you talk about playing the Boston Celtics for the NBA championship?
Kobe: It Sucks.

Yeah, I remember that from a few months ago

not good times when Ainge coached – or attempted to coach – Big Shot Bob in Phoenix.

LOL, why didnt we re-sign Posey? you know how much better he is than horry especially in the locker room? I know, I know Posey wanted too many years, but he was worth it, period. not only was he a calming influence off the court, but the guy could straight ball on the court especially when it matters most

even if he was done

in 4 years, hes still one of the best guys in entire NBA to have in your lockerrom…epic fail!!!

Robert Horry is NOT what we need.

by BudweiserCeltic on Jan 2, 2009 11:53 AM EST reply actions

Bankshot is probably right

I would love to have Big Shot Bob coming off the Celtics bench but that guy WAS lousy last year on Spurs. I think Bankshot is correct….he’s done. But, he would have Posey’s 3 pt range and was 6’9" I think. If Danny still thought he had game, I’m in.

Horry provides little or no interior defense. He’s just a shooter. Also I will be completely flabbergasted if he comes to a team where Ainge is the GM, although I suppose it’s time for Ainge and Horry to bury the hatchet after all these years.

Question: if Horry can still play, why is he out of the league?

by Brickowski on Jan 2, 2009 12:36 PM EST reply actions

awesome

Horry is the Man, but there is no way Danny Ainge allows Horry to be on his team. He’s probably just messing with Horry’s head…
