Tony Still On Shelf
Tony Allen, still recovering from a right ankle sprain, didn’t practice yesterday, and has now missed nine games with the injury. The process of working back into game shape is starting to delay his return.
“I literally have zero idea of when that will be,” Rivers said of the swingman’s return. “It’ll take some time at this rate, though.”
Sounds like a bad sprain.

Much as I like Tony
It’s kind of sad commentary that during this win streak, his absence has hardly been noticeable with House playing a lot of the backup 2 minutes. About the only time he’s been mentioned is to talk of Walker deposing him in his place in the rotation..
More Going On
I think there’s more going on with TA than we know. He either had a bad strain which can take longer to heal than a fracture or he has ligament damage and may need surgery. I don’t think we’ll see any more TA this season. I feel bad for Tony, but he really didn’t get the job done when he had the chance. As Berkcelt said, we really haven’t missed him and it gets minutes for other players like Pruitt who may be able to help us more if only for the fact that it allows House to play his real position.
I think theres more going on with Tony as well, but I also think the celtics are a better team without him, and also easier to watch without him

I don't see how...
this prolonged absence could be anything more than a slow healing injury
this is the opposite of showcasing, Tony has no motivation to stay out (if he does lose his job, we won’t pick up his option), I don’t see what the team could gain from keeping him out
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." Michael Scott
House has been playing better, and it’s nice to see Pruitt being eased into action… but I think it’s time to start doing the same with Walker. Give him a little bit of consistent playing time, not just garbage-time minutes, let’s see if he’s going to be able to help pick up the slack later in the year. Just start easing him into the rotation a little bit, he’s got the size and athleticism that we really still need even more with Tony on the sidelines. Just – maybe 10-12 minutes a night, a little bit of PT with the vets, let’s see what we’ve got. He certainly has the POTENTIAL to be more important down the stretch than any veteran guy we might be able to pick off the scrapyard; let’s see if he’s ready.
