No Commitment To Starbury
Is your head spinning yet? Steve Bulpett has a source denying that the team made a commitment to Marbury.
A source close to the situation has said there has been absolutely no verbal commitment between the Celtics [team stats] and disgruntled New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury.
The source went on to say the two sides have spoken (the Knicks gave Marbury permission to talk with other clubs), and that the Celts would definitely like to add him under the right circumstances. However, the club is not prepared to give him major playing time.
So, can a player be a distraction in the lockerroom while still under contract with another team? If anyone can, he can.

The only real commitment is the one by Celticsblog to useless Marbury threads. Can we PLEASE have a Marbury moratorium?

Eddie House
I really like the way eddie house has been playing, at the 2 guard position. If Marbury can be a passing and driving pg I say we pick him up, he can def handle the rock.

He's not even close to being a Celtic
and he’s already a huge distraction. If this isn’t a sign, what is?
He just can’t keep quiet and stay out of the news, can he?
The guy’s nuts…anyone ever see this?:

Last Word, again (from 4 blogs ago
I do agree with Brickowski on this one. Marbury needs the Celtics much more than they need him. Stop feeding the story. We’re the damn good Celtics. We’re above a turkey like that. Pruitt ahas positves and I know you know Eddie has positives. They need the run, not some serial pouter with a history of either making a loser team or finding a loser team. Enough with this clown!

in the past 24 hours
there are 2 posts on Marbury (both reporting breaking news developments, not hearsay), one on Reggie Miller, one on bench play, one on the power rankings, a look at NBA box scores, and a look at Rondo’s shooting as well as the daily links
just sayin’ – if you want another topic to talk about, there are other options, the scroll bar is your friend

granted
I have to agree, the topic is getting old – I wish there was something better to talk about but I don’t have time to write an article and no other news is really bubbling up

Well, I’m up for a story announcing the new, legitimate backup 5 that we should have signed in August …

How About Waiting for Marbury's Buyout?
When the buyout occurs, he can join another team. Until then, discussion of him just demeans Celticsblog, just like signing him will demean the Celtics.

That's life...
… with blogs, Brickowski. If you can stir up some discussion, you stir. I’d say on par this blog does a pretty decent job of not stirring too furiously. I’m not sure about all the posts and rumor-spreading that’s gone on before (I’ve only read a few posts), but as Jeff points out, this really is news so you gotta report it. But I do agree with you that we should have no part of him.

It's Tabloid News
It’s not really news. It’s just hot air being blown by Marbury’s agent. It’s tabloid stuff, and Celticsblog should not be seduced by it.
So what about some Eddie Curry threads? People seem to think we need a backup center, and he’s just as likely to get bought out. He’d be a huge upgrade in the low post over Powe and Davis. He’s totally clueless on defense— but so is Marbury.
How about it, Jeff? You could even run images of Curry’s slain ex-girlfriend as part of the thread.

He's a distraction to the fans...
But let’s be honest, the players don’t care at all. Do you think that any player on our team is thinking, boy if we get Marbury we might have a shot to win it this year? This team has no issues in the confidence area, and they believe that the team they have right now is good enough to win a title. They will let the management do their job, I can’t see how any of them are thinking about any players to add, never mind Marbury. With that said, I really hope he gets bought out and we get him. He would make us “weakness-free.”

Needs
We need a back-up center or a consistent back-up wing much more than we need a back-up point guard.

Meh
Does anyone else think Marbury is talking his way out of a minimum contract with a Championship team?
