we'll be going 0-4
No way can we beat the Cavs… even with them missing big Z… UGH.. this sucks…

Agree….Id say the Cavs destroy us ….look at the way they dismantled the Cats…who we could not even beat in OT.

We might as well play the cheerleaders
maybe one of them can play defense

What was the lead when Glenn Davis and Gabe Pruitt went out? Five points? Six points? Then they put House on Brooks and House goes under the pick and Brooks nails a key three. How can you go under the pick on a shooter like Brooks? INEXCUSABLE.
Then the offense in the last three minutes— missed jumper after missed jumper, while the totally useless Perkins stands around, and they double team off Rondo, who is afraid to shoot.
Except for Garnett’s one great defensive play and Ray Allen’s drive to the rack, the starters were a big pile of horse manure—- again.

I'm not watching that game
Lebron probably will score 100 pts with the celtics defense right now or lack there of.

Not even
playing at home saved their poor play….the 4th qtr was just awful…Pruitt was the only one who showed up in the 4th and he was yanked after about 2 min.

Trade needs to happen. The bench is God awful.
by DesertCFan on Jan 7, 2009 10:08 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
silver lining!!
The way Pruitt played, Doc should finally realize he should be part of the rotation, and if I were Doc, id even play him more than house right now who is downright awful on the road.
by bopna on Jan 7, 2009 10:12 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The bench?!
What about the starters?! They have absolutely no go -to down the stretch plays other than handing the ball to PP and letting him try to jack it up over the defender. It reminds me of the season of doom. There is no reason we should have trouble scoring at the end of games. We can blame the bench, sure, but the starters shoulder just as much if not more blame. Where are those 25 point leads they used to build up so the bench had no pressure?!

Very Dissapointing
Celtics have been very disappointing especially with this lost to Houston. They have no hunger and no energy. It seems they are happy enough winning #17 and have lost that killer instinct. THEY NEED TO MAKE A MOVE!!! THEY NEED SOMEONE TO BRING SOME ENERGY AND SPICE…….STARBURY???? lol maybe, maybe not,,,,

And the Rockets did it with Yao and four scrubs. They were without McGrady and Battier, and Artest fouled out.
And still the Celtics couldn’t get a decent shot.
by Brickowski on Jan 7, 2009 10:09 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Amen!
This is nonsense and the C’s better go back to the drawing board to get 4-5 set plays to run at the end of the game when we need a basket. We just got punked by nobodies. The sad part was towards the end of that 19 game stretch teams didn’t think they could actually win. Now no one is scared of us.

just poor execution in the 4th qtr….11 points, 22% shooting…Defensive lapse on KG failing to box out Yao when the rockets were up 2 then Yao followed up a missed attempt…..just an awful slump this team is going through

Not only did we lose but
we have to listen to the worst announcing crew in the entire league. Can someone tell me how and Tommy has a job? He is by far the worst announcer in sports today or maybe of all time. I think its a complete embarrassment that we have all those banners yet we are stuck listening to the worst announcers in the business.

Disappearing vs. Not Getting the Ball
Perk and Powe are NEVER getting the ball…
I know there are many issues right now, but getting killed in the paint game after game is key. What happened to the post game? It was never stellar but it keeps teams honest and these guys need to touch the ball once in a while.

The loss in LA in the closing two minutes has been repeated over and over since then. Whats worse than losing to the Lakers? Losing the mental edge to the Lakers… That game has left a scar , at least it seems.

What Celtics have is Called a Slump!
What Celtics fair weather fans have is arrogance!
The Cs played a long hard season last year and they came up winners. They came back this year on track to lose no more than 10 games. That was NOT, is NOT, sustainable. They have an overall loss record that is just behind the Cavs and the Lakers. This, by anyone else’s measure, is an outstanding record. At the rate they were going they were going to peak too early. Maybe they already did.
The Lakers lost last night… I haven’t written them off. And they, (nor their fans), are writing themselves off. The Cs won in a streak, and unfortunately they’re losing in a streak. But they’re still a great team. I’ve said it before and it bears repeating: they need to peak during the playoffs, when it counts. And anyone here who doesn’t believe the Cs are going to be in the playoff, is delusional. If the Cs had kept on their previous pace they would have burned out by mid-March.
Any true Celtics fan would have more sense than to start hollering TRADE! Go to a game… cheer them on… give them the props they deserve for having an outstanding record.

I hate how us losing is such big news on the national media outlets, especially ESPN, I’m sure half of them are already writing us off…we still have a top 4 record and are mortal after all…. Im watching the Nuggets vs Heat on ESPN, and they start blabbing about us losing, really? I guess that happens when youre the champs
by TheAncientRivalry on Jan 7, 2009 11:26 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
It does come with being the champs. When we weren’t winning, people here were complaining about the lack of press coverage. The media however, is producing a fraction of the amount of ‘writing us off’ that is occurring here.

by EveryHoustonTeamRox! on Jan 7, 2009 11:50 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Fairweather fans, wow.
The celtics are in a slump, anybody notice that there was a NINETEEN game win streak going before this little bump in the road? The Celtics are going to a have a good practice tommorow and will go to Cleveland ready to go. Expect a huge game out of Rondo and Pierce, and all of a sudden all these “fans” will be say they “never doubted”.
Also, the bench clearly isnt weak, we are still a top three team in the league with the “weak” bench we have. Doc needs to get gabe running the point for the second unit, and if they keep KG or Perk in to offset their lack of height, they should be a solid unit.
by swd515 on Jan 8, 2009 1:11 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Problem is...
KG gets tired and Perkins tends to get in foul trouble. Add a PJ like veteran (Joe Smith?) and alot of problems disappear
by Fundefined on Jan 8, 2009 1:33 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree
The 19 game winning streak was no fluke, the team has just forgotten how to close out games and needs to go back to basics. The Cleveland game will hopefully be much better.

silver linning is right, even doc can not not play pruitt now, his length, quickness, shooting, ball handling and defense can not be denied, please play him over house and maybe over allen for that mattter.
it is not the bench, it is not the defense, it is two things, one, the pressure, the exhaustion, have fun and two and most importantly, the offense – 11 points in the fourth, 11 points? the offense needs attention, its like the anti-d’antoni team. please pout some work into the offense.

lets not forget that we are getting not just everybody’s best game in terms of effort but that that effort is translating into improbable outcomes, odom threes, gasol toughness, brooks and felton looking like all stars, morrison going nuts, the knicks playing defense. some of this is just real low percentage stuff even if it is brought about by fantastic effort on all these teams part

Wow, some ridiculously stupid posts here
If you have a comment on the team or the game, please share it.
But if you feel compelled to bash Tommy Heinsohn, do this: log onto the Lakers blog and have at it. Or go in the community section and start a forum on it. A lot of us love him, his loud voice, his anger over bad calls, and his unbridled homerism. And we don’t want you taking up space on a post string that’s supposed to be about the game to bash him. And I’d rather not have to get my anger up and defend him, but I don’t want idiots to get away with bashing him for no apparent reason, other than personal taste.
He’s a color commentator. He’s not the reason they’re losing. If you don’t like him, turn down the volume. For many of us, especially those of us who live far from home now, every home game is a treat because Tommy brings Boston to us, and we know he won’t be able to do it much longer.
