Might as well see what we can get on the market for KG or Paul before the deadline. Maybe we should stock up on picks. If Cs can go last to first, how unreasonable is first to last?

first to last
Good one. Is the Atlantic division safe?
Anyway, it’s still a long way until April.
On the other hand, is there any team in the East you’d want to face in the first round?
How about the second?
Maybe if we could play Detroit each round we might be ok.

Gabe
Look on the bright side.
Gabe was “free” for 15 minutes.
Although I’m not sure if he was freed or just given a few more links on his short leash.

I Feel a Storm Comin
A big one too. I think we will see a minor trade or deal soon. The kids will come back from the D league, KG will take a week or two off and Scalabrine will start in his place. Paul may sit for a couple of games and possibly Perk t o rest some aches and pains.
It wont all happen at once, but I think that will be our ‘panic’ mode. I am sure Danny and Doc would have waited till the All Star break to rest people, but it will likely be sooner. The real hope has to be that no one is actually injured and needs to miss significant time. Like the rest of the season.

The desire they had last year its just not there: They got what they wanted last year. They are a year older physically and it will show sooner or later; it seems sooner than everybody expected, so they got to pace themselves, consciously or subconsciously. Many other teams got better since last year and are adapting to our style of game; many factors, not only one. We didnt get significantly better since last year with new bodies.
The team owners and Danny knew what could happen by not signing Possey and adversely affecting our chemistry; Possey was not only good physically, but more so mentally; we miss that part. So be it. We have what management has concocted for us. The team is not as good as last year as Rondo has taken a step backwards after leaping forward; he is a head case. Perks shoulder is a disaster waiting to happen again and now KG’s leg is somewhat older. Only PP has survived; our Superman; bu this is not a one-man sport. I don know. Not worth pushing he panic button. It was there all the time.

Dude what??
I’m gonna try to reply to your incoherent post without lashing out, but just keep in mind, it will not be easy. First of all your summing up an entire 82 game season in an 8 game stretch, correct? I just want to make that clear, because that’s basically what you just said. We have no desire? Rondo is a headcase? We didn’t get any better with new bodies?….well the bodies we do have got better buddy (see perk, rondo) and now you’re taking shots at Perks shoulder??
So when we started 27-2, we did that without desire? That 19 game stretch when Rondo outplayed 17 of the 19 pg’s he faced, and put up all nba numbers, was he a headcase then? So Perk, Rondo and Allen making huge leaps this season didn’t make us better huh? The only thing that the last 8 games have shown me (with the exception of last night’s game of course) is how important home court really is. It’s hard to imagine that we would have won a ring last year if we didn’t have homecourt in every series. Winning against good teams on the road in the NBA is very difficult, so the race is on people, let’s go get that number 1 seed!

The problem with the Celtics
Is that they spent too much money on that fancy panic button when they should have invested that money in the bench.

But c'mon, Tom, how cool is Jeff's panic button pic? :-D
I love it. Good laugh for me this morning, Jeff, thanks.

It's pretty sweet, I laughed when I first saw it
Then I couldn’t get over what a high quality panic button that is. I think I can just make out Danny Ainge right above the reflection of the coffee cup. Someone has been polishing that panic button.

Seriously though
The Celtics will be fine. This is just probability theory shaking things out.

no way man.
no way!
best starting five in the nba: celtics
best team in nba: not celtics.
there is no slack, no help from the bench. Powe Allan Baby and House are not reliable.
The Celtics are right where they should be: great but struggling. win most, but lose some.
Garnett’s play has lowered this season.
6th man posey is gone. 7th man
House, when Rondo is out, cannot lead the offense.
Some nights Perkins picks up the slack, but he is not consistent. = loses.
Scalabrine is not PJ Brown.
Celtics need to get it together. Home court adv is necessary for them to win the championship.

It is Not Age
JB talked about this before. Doc plays the starters too long in the third quarter, and then they run out of gas in the fourth. Doc has a history of doing this. The rotations Doc uses are not good.
With that said however, the team also is completely unfocused and undisciplined. Frazier referred to Celtic passing as a$$inine in the game against the Knicks. Every aspect of the game shows evidence of a lackluster approach. And Doc simply writing it off as the ‘dog days’ of the season is stupid.
Signing a FA isn’t going to make a difference if these other things are not addressed first.

Stay in denial pal…you really think those 2 guys arent overpaid? maybe they arent frauds, but theyre overpaid

Well
KG (the main reason the NBA salary cap exists) has been overpaid his entire career. No one seemed to care last year.
by Jaycelt on Jan 8, 2009 2:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
90% of nba players are over paid.
with the salary quasi-cap increasing every year, more and more returning players get over paid. But “overpaid” is a subjective term. what really is it in relation to? Is it:
-other players or
-the player’s past performance.
In the long run, star players’ :
performance will rise and then subsequently fall
pay will (usually) continually increase.
In the long run, KGs ‘pay per performance’ ratrio will decrease. Which big man will pick up the slack? That is Boston’s question for this year’s playoffs.
