Cavs win, even without Ilgauskas. But it will be close until the tired old men go back in the game with 6 minutes to go.

Celtics will win

my gut tells me so

and I’m always right, …except when I’m wrong

any celtic (fan) who says no to this question doesnt deserve to celebrate after we win finals again this year

not true

it is just a confidence check, not a “how big of a fan are you?” check

I agree with Jeff

But this just shows how easily Celtics fans’ confidence can be shaken. I would’ve thought a championship title and history-making best start alleviate some of that insecurity, but I guess not.

insecurity

We were Celts fans in the lean years too, plenty of heartbreak there to build a huge stockpile of insecurity. When I think of last year it still seems like an impossible dream!

And we are all still Celts fans,* even those of us who think the sky might be falling—Jeff’s poll is no litmus test. I don’t think the sky is falling, but I don’t care to hazard a guess on who will win either. I’ll enjoy a win or curse if we don’t.

I think we will bounce back and get the W. Just like how the winning streak can’t go forever, neither can the losing streak…

Celtics win

That's right, Who

WE’RE STOPPING THAT “UNBEATEN AT THE Q” STREAK!

The ones thinking we will win are just gearing themselves up for a major let down, and its not gonna be the end of the world, I just think cleveland is the better team right now

Cavs are due to lose one at home. A day of rest and reflection combined with the challenge of battling LBJ at the Q will do this team well.

the backcourt matchup really favors us, I think Rondo will have a big game against Mo Williams, and they aren’t going to put Lebron on him ala Phil Jax style. No one else on their roster can stay with Pierce, that will be LBJ’s fulltime job.

by D Dub on Jan 8, 2009 3:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Cleveland “wrote the book” on cheating off Rondo in last year’s playoffs, and will do it to perfection.

If we can’t beat the Knicks or Bobcats, why should we beat the Cavs, who are just as good as us (within the usual pollster’s “margin of error”) anyway.

I predict a 15-plus point Cavs win.

The ship will be corrected, just not this Friday. Or maybe it will be corrected by Friday, but the Cavs will still win.

The one positive I’ve seen from all this is that the Celtics could have won all the games lost if they played defense. Things will work themselves out eventually.

I see something similar to game 3 of last years playoff series against them…108-84 Cleveland

We will be buried. We have serious problems. In no particular order we have big men who are shot, a pg who cannot shoot and another two pgs who are inexperienced and not very good. Tony Allen has played terribly. They have some real serrious problems and time is ripe for the Cavs to rip them to pieces.

sometimes i wonder why i even follow this blogsite...

seriously guys! we’ve had a slump. boo friggin hoo! it’s not like other great teams have never had slumps before…that’s right, we’re a GREAT team still. a tired team, yes. a beat up team, yes. but we’re great, and the greatness will come through. i’m just glad we’re facing the slump now and not in april like last year (see playoffs road woes). we’re gonna make it through this just fine. and guess what? we just called up giddens and walker. can you say fresh legs and youthful energy to spark this “old” team and get em back on track?

rick pitino was wrong about many things, but there’s one thing he was dead right about:

oh, and lebron can keep his “king crabs” to himself. no one on this board wants his STD’s.

haha, it’ll be yet another fun game filled with verajao flops and lebron’s 4 step layups. good luck, you guys are gonna need it.

Just thinking logically

No, Celtics won’t win. They didn’t win in Cleveland in the playoffs and since then Cavs have gotten better and Celts worse. Maybe they can muster some deep fire and give Cleveland a scare but I don’t think Doc is willing to let the starters burn out just to maybe win this game.

by Fundefined on Jan 8, 2009 8:02 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

screwedupmaniac is completely right…yes, the celtics have not have played the way we know they can, but that is no reason to be so down on them. what kind of fans are we if we’re already giving up because they lost a few games? they’re human, they’re not going to win every single game. if they hadnt gotten off to such an amazing start, no one would be like this in the first place. i say we be thankful that we have a team that has already won 29 games, if you ask me, we’re not looking too bad…and we all know celtics tend to play down to teams that are worse but play that much better against they’re biggest competition, bring on the cavs, i say this is exactly what we need right now!

The C's have a chance

As much as I’m down on the team right now because of the recent slump, I’m still holding out hope with every game that this would be the game where the C’s would snap out of it. Sometimes, a little faith is all we need.

The C’s are in a bad shape right now but not really as bad as some make it out to be. We’ll get out act together, sooner or later. I only hope that it would come as soon as tomorrow’s game vs the Cavs.

by Celtic_E on Jan 9, 2009 12:28 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the C's win

The Cavs without Big Z aren’t such a strong team. Still good, but not on the Celtics level.

by cordobes on Jan 9, 2009 12:30 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I dont agree with that at all….We should lose this game as far as im concerned and that would make the season series 1-1, and it shouldnt make/break the season, its the celtics problem they gave up first by losing to inferior competition, not once but 5 times

by TheAncientRivalry on Jan 9, 2009 11:22 AM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

C’s will win. This will wake up our confidence.
