An Embarrassing 4 Straight.
Instead of a picture of this latest game here is a little video I think is appropriate. Peter Gibbons probably best illustrates the feel of the Celtics effort for most of this game.
So....that was unpleasant. The score was deceptively close until mid-way through the 4th, and then it turned into the blow out it had been all along. Complete with a back-firing Hack-A-Ben strategery from Doc.
There are all kinds of things wrong with this team right now.
- Paul looked lethargic tonight and really held the ball every time LeBron was on him. That's not going to work PP. Quick decisions.
- This team goes as far as Rajon takes them. Right now its not very far. I'm starting to wonder if he's hurt. He's just out there running around. For a few minutes in the third quarter he got into his frantic mode, but otherwise it was a meh performance.
- I can't claim to have watched a TON of Ray Allen before he joined the Celtics. What is clear though, is that he will not take over a game. Ray is better than Delonte, he needs to make the most of that matchup. He didn't.
- It's getting to the point now that I might enjoy Paul Blart Mall Cop more than the next Celtics game. Blart!
- Here's a summary of the play-by-play if you listened to Dan Schulman on ESPN tonight: "OMG! LeBron is teh best!!11!!! I luv him. He iz amazings. LebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebron celtics LebronLebronLebronLebronLebronLebron." You get the point. Yes Lebron is the best in the game, but there are 9 other guys out there....Next ESPN broadcast of the Cavs / Celts, I suggest we all make sure to have a barf bowl handy.
- Doc said play with Force. KG Rammed It Low, maybe his most emphatic drive of the season. Unfortunately, that was followed up by about three straight turnovers. That's really how this one went.
Anyone got any ideas?

I realize someone might take my comparison of the Celtics to Peter too seriously and go off the deep end, so as a disclaimer: It’s just a joke. I really don’t know what to say about this team right now.
When Perk was asked what he thought of Howard winning the gold medal this summer, he responded: "What’s his impression of me after I won a ring?"

Frustration
Yes the Lebron orgasm was over the top. Celtics have lost their confidence. They haven’t lost the talent and I hope they can rebound soon. VERY FRUSTRATING TO WATCH! Now I must go and drink myself to sleep.

That was an excellent clip! There does seem to be some motivation issues. And we know that the C’s NEED the home court advantage. Now that you are done playing the Blazers (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) I hope you guys can find your grove again.

House must be benched, for starters. That won’t fix everything, but it’s a start.
They need Tony Allen back— badly. Pierce looks incredibly slow. He just turned the ball over again and again and again. He telegraphed every pass he threw.

Where are the Celtics and who are these 15 guys in green that showed up tonight? Not any Celtics im familiar with. No confidence, no heart, no fight. Celtics need that killer instinct back!!!!!

this would have been a tough game to win if we were playing well. as it is we are not playing well so winning seemed improbable. I really thought we were right where we wanted to be in the 3rd qtr but we made a couple of bad turnovers and lebron made some buckets and we were never able to close the gap. we got it to 3 but as with out other losses it just seems we’re not getting the ball to drop when we need it or we’re turning it over. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a team turn so many 3 footers into 25 footers. give the cavs credit though especially lebron. Yes pierce came up small but who doesn’t against lebron. his strength and speed are unreal. I think we will win our next game but we have to play D from the beginning of the game and not starting in the 3rd qtr

No Urgency
There is no urgency with this team right now. KG stepped it up a bit in this game, I was starting to get worried he was hurting and getting tired out there both mentally and physically. Meanwhile, Rondo was hustling, got 13 assists even with guys not making shots. Ray needs to start shooting better. Get back to the basics here folks. Also, the baby + powe tandem just doesn’t work Doc. There’s gotta be a bigger guy in there with them. I wouldn’t mind trying someone like POB, or just keep KG or Perk out there a bit with one of them. OR sign someone. But I’d like to see some POB first, and maybe JR Giddens and Bill Walker for short energy necessities (almost like Walter McCarty used to do) – def something we could’ve used tonight.

No ideas..
No ideas what do do here, I have tried all of my lucky jerseys to no avail. going to be a long season. per the cavs crowd we’re hated again, but losing agian too.
Not sure what type of trade would fix this, but the team is suddenly very incomplete and at this rate will never regain homecourt.
Bright side, ATL got BLOWN out way worse.

No answers but.....
House should not get off the bench next game
They badly need some size and scoring off the bench
The offense is an absolute mess
They are a laughingstock right now and yet they just seem to be sitting back and taking it. I don’t get it.
by vinnie on Jan 9, 2009 10:48 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
discombobulated...
They have got to start taking better care of the ball and make better decisions in transition. Defense is a step slow. Too much outside shooting…they need to take it to the rack and start playing more aggressively. They are playing to the other teams strengths rather than dictating the tempo…and the bench is just as pathetic as the starters. I hate to say this but I don’t see this as a good omen. Yea, I think they will win the division, but at this rate, they could easily lose in the first or second round of the playoffs. Not sure that there is any free agents that will help either. Danny may have to pull off a trade but I would like to see what Pruitt/Walker and Giddens can do. We need more athleticism in my opinion.
by daveedee36 on Jan 9, 2009 10:49 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I agree. They are a step behind. The defense looks slower, the movement of the defense is slow, they are allowing too much dribble penetration, they don’t rotate fast enough. Just out of synch, almost like they are just learning to play with each other.
On offense, way too many outside shots, not enough low past play, not enough dribble penetration, not getting to the line (not getting the calls either – plenty of contact and no calls for the C’s, somebody breathes next to LeBron and he’s going to the line – pathetic).
The aggression is lacking. They need to ram the ball down their opponents throat, they need to fast break a lot more, not just settling for a 3 on the break. Everything needs to go to the rim. They call a charge, so be it. Force the refs to make that call. This team was forcing the tempo and keeping the pressure on. Now they look tentative.
They’ll get it back, just not sure when.

if...
LeBron didn’t occasionally bail out the Celtics by taking deep threes (some of which he made anyway), he could’ve outscored the “big three” tonight.
I was surprised. I thought I saw signs that the C’s had turned a corner as far as intensity. They may have but it wasn’t enough to even keep this game close.
Eddie House’s play is aggravating the crap out of me right now. If he can’t hit threes why is he in the NBA?
Varejao needs to be decked for real so he doesn’t need to fake it.

I am stunned
But, as a lifelong fan and a seas ticketholder I am quickly getting to the point where I am happy that they won number 17 last year and am rapidly realizing that they are not going to repeat this year and likely not get out of the East or even make it to the eastern finals. Rondo was a -19 tonight and Ray Allen has shot 16-63 in the last six games. Put a fork in ’em.

Just plain wrong...
Near the end of the second quarter, Van Gundy said that Lebron is, right now, better than Larry…
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. The kid played a heck of a game tonight, but let’s not get crazy!
He’s young and he’s very good… but he is not better than Larry Bird.
On an other note…. the C’s need to get better if they want home court advantage!!!!

You had a Ray Allen question.
I have seen A LOT of Ray Allen out here. He CAN take over a game and dominate. I just think he’s trying to fit in with KG (IMO). Coach needs to tell him to just shoot it. I have seen him on MULTIPLE occasions kill other teams by just jackin’ up shots from all over. He can get hot, and there is NO stopping him. He’s legit!

by Green17 on Jan 9, 2009 11:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He is severely constricted
When there are three people on the floor who are capable of taking over a game (when the starters are in) or when there are inept bench players who don’t run the plays effectively enough, he cannot assert himself. Plus, he was two or three in-and-out threes from being the Celtics top contributor.
One thing I realize from watching him here vs. who he was in Milwaukee and Seattle is that he seems to feel like he is constricted by the others around him. Pierce does not feel like that. Garnett just looks dead out there. Shooting will always be streaky, and though he has fit better into the offense this year, he will run cold from time to time. What about the Rockets game? The Pacers game? Last year’s Raptors game? There are tons of times.
OCBlazerFan1 is right on the spot here.
Plus, have we seen Garnett take over a game this season, at all?

he did play well, but his defense still needs a lot of work, especially off the ball. Mo ran him ragged through screens tonight.

How about this:
- Get Garnett in the post once in a while
- move the ball on offense
- play with some passion
- get ona offensive rebound
These things might get us back on track.
by LarryRules33 on Jan 9, 2009 11:18 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Eddie House is not the problem.
It’s amazing how everyone’s turning on Eddie when right now. He hasn’t been shooting as well as he needs to be, but you can still rely on him to work his but off on defense (as he did tonight) and give the 2nd unit some energy. Right now, the bench just needs another scorer not named Tony Allen, and I’m sure Danny will bring that guy in at some point. For now, Gabe needs to be getting all of the backup pg minutes and guarding the opposing 2, with Eddie playing the 2 on offense and guarding the point guard on the other end. Tonight though, the bench wasn’t the problem anyway. They actually played the Cavs about even. Bottom line, we know players 6-10 are going to play inconsistently. They have all season long. The difference is the starters, and right now, the onus is on players 1-5 to right the ship.

He hurt his shoulder in the 1st quarter tonight..Im not gonna blame him for that, especially when we outrebounded the cavs anyways

The Celtics did beat the Cavs handily on the backboards. They were plus 12 on the glass.
Perk getting only 1 board in 23 minutes is fairly awful, but I don’t think it hurt the team, those rebounds went to someone else in a green jersey.

I hate the ESPN announcing squad so bad. It was literally painful to listen to them. The playoffs are going to be an ordeal to watch with their terrible, terrible announcing.
As for the Celtics, I’m not worried. So many users on this site are so extremely pessimistic – it truly amazes me. We know what this team can do and they are still the most dominant team in the league, minor losing streak or not. Have faith.

And since when is losing 7 out of 9 a minor losing streak?

Because I have been watching them dominate the league for a year and a half and I’m not swayed by one 9 game stretch? That was my whole point.

thoughts...
As bad as they looked…Rondo had 13 assists, 4 steals and only two turnovers. He couldn’t shoot a lick but that isn’t a bad line. Perkins was great until he hurt his shoulder. Garnett had 15 boards. I am amazed at how negative everyone can get about this. Yes it sucks but…hasn’t anyone seen the records of the teams that have had long winning streaks come to an end? All the teams that have had long streaks have a losing streak to follow. Ray is in a funk, Rondo isn’t 100%, our best bench player is out. What do you want. I totally agree that our team is not as good as last year…but…didn’t Danny and Doc make some moves during the season last year that put us over the edge? Be patient. Two weeks ago we were on top of the world. Do a few losses really make this a crappy team.
It makes me sick to read some of the posts from you “supposed” diehard fans!

I'm hearing ya mate
I watched the game, the first game I saw since the Lakers game, and I thought they played well. Not great, but they played good.
There were 2 three pointers at the end of the 3rd quarter by LeBron and then Delonte, without those points it would have been a 6 point game to start the 4th quarter. We also came within 3 points to start the 3rd quarter so the game was alot closer than the final score and Hack-A-Ben reports show.
I think we definitely still have a chance to defend our title. We are 20 games over the .500 mark in January, most teams would trade anything to be in this position.

Eddie House IS the problem. The offense stagnates when he’s in there. They become strictly a jump shooting team.
In fact, if it puts House on the bench, I’m in favor of bringing in Marbury, or bozo the clown, for that matter, if he doesn’t dribble away half the clock before initiating the offense.
by Brickowski on Jan 9, 2009 11:23 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
We had the same backup point guard last year.
And the bench was just fine. Actually, it was fine tonight as well. Take a look at the plus minus numbers for the bench compared to the starters.
How you can pin the team’s struggles solely on Eddie House, I don’t understand.

that’s slightly unfair to look at the bench due to garbage time. but the starters definitely didn’t get it done.

One thing to remember, they didn’t just turn into an old, tired, bad team overnight. They were kicking everyone’s butt. The tide turned. They can get it back. How? Good question, but that’s why Doc, his staff, the players, and Danny get paid the big bucks.
There’s way too much over-reaction on this blog: too many highs, too many lows.
I have confidence in this team, the same team that won 19 straight and lost 7 of 9.

Cs are definitely in trouble
P Pierce – Something is wrong with Paul. He’s either sick, or depressed (or both), or just getting old. He should definitely get a full metabolic workup to eliminate the first possibility. Anyway, he is NOT playing up to his par level at all. Turns the ball over many times, no energy, and not getting much help from his teammates, who seem to think they can pass him the ball and walk away (like last year).
KG – doing fine.
Ray – In a major slump. Still active as always, but shot is way off.
Rondo – Absolutely SUCKS now. He’s playing scared, and badly. I guess he never was that good to begin with.
Perk – Doing ok. But that shoulder of his is a real Achilles heel. You never know when he’ll be sidelined because somebody hits his arm in a funny way.
Eddie – Interesting how he got hot only when the game was out of reach. Points to a mental issue. The pressure is getting to him. He needs a fistful of chill pills or whatever it takes to be a PRO, which means you perform all the time, not just when it doesn’t matter anymore.
Powe – Mr. Reliable.
B Baby D. – Tries hard, yes. But let’s not kid ourselves, this guy barely qualifies for the NBA. You know that’s the case when everybody goes gaga every time he hits one of those weird jumpers of his… you know, where he shoots like an injured duck falling off a cliff.
Scal – Smart, but let’s face it, he does not have the physical talent for the NBA. Maybe if he lost 40 pounds…
Tony Allen – Just plain sucks. Mostly, he’s just too stupid.
Patrick OB – I like this guy. Needs more play time. Could develop into a force given the chance.
Pruitt – Potential great player. Definitely needs more playing time to find out.
I believe the Cavs will win the championship this season. They’re playing the best combined offense/defense in the league right now, and there’s every reason to believe this will continue. Cs have a shot, but they don’t have a BEAST on their team like Lebron, so it’s gonna be hard, and probably won’t happen, sadly.

Honestly, I am not overly impressed by either of them. But, they both are being asked to play out of position.
by vinnie on Jan 9, 2009 11:38 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I couldn't disagree more
Paul has been playing the best during this slump.
KG hasn’t played up to his normal standards, for whatever reason.
Ray is in a shooting slump. It happens.
Rondo sucks now? 3 weeks ago he was an all-star candidate.
Eddie is cracking under pressure? the same guy that hit so many big shots last year?
Powe has been very unreliable as of late.
BBD has been up and down.
Scal usually makes the most of the minutes he gets. He’s not the 6th man, but he plays hard and smart. Can’t ask for much more. He is what he is.
So now Tony’s just stupid?
POB is going to develop into a force? Based upon what evidence?
Pruitt is pretty good player, but still inexperienced. Potential great? Don’t think so.
CLE played very well tonight. What about them getting beat by WAS? They should have gotten beat by WAS at home as well if not for the zebras – if you saw it, it was just pathetic.

The Truth
Paul has indeed been one of the best players on his team over the past several games. But this is a team where almost nobody is playing well, so that’s not saying anything. In key moments, Paul turns the ball over, and/or fails in other ways. More concerning is his lack of energy. As I said, he seems sick, depressed or tired…. or all three. Or maybe it’s just his age. Whatever it is, he is CLEARLY not playing on last year’s level…. not up to his par. QED.
About BBD — please. Is there a fatter player in uniform in the NBA? Or anyone with a weirder jump shot? He works hard, but he is NOT on the same athletic plane as most of the rest of the NBA.
TA – If you want to know why he is called “stupid”, just look at all the stupid things he does in EVERY game he plays.
by DRJ1 on Jan 10, 2009 12:00 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Again, singling out Paul and saying hes not playing up to par with last year is just not true…and again KG is the one who has taken a significant step back and seems depressed or sick (or both) I hate to pick favorites here , but lets get real, alot of us like letting KG off the hook and pointing the fingers anywhere but at him….its KG whos not protecting the paint, scoring in the paint, being intense or a leader

Everyone has injuries right now
Do people really think that only Celtics’ players are fighting nagging injuries? Every team has injuries. Why can’t people just admit that the Celtics are playing like crap and there are significant issues with this team?

my thoughts
1. LeBron is the best player I have ever seen other than MJ. I can’t stand him, but only because he does not play on the Celtics.
2. KG is hurt. He is limping around during the second half, has no spring, no quick step. He needs to take off about 2 weeks to rest his wheels.
3. Doc needs to change the rotations. Pruitt needs more of Eddie’s minutes, maybe all of them. O’Bryant needs to get some or all of Powe’s minutes. Powe has hit his ceiling for now. He needs to get hungry again. BBD deserves his minutes, he is the only guy who seems to hustle every minute he is on the floor.
4. Ray needs to rest his wheels. He is missing too many jump shots.
5. Rondo needs more rest. Give Pruitt some of his minutes too until Marbury gets bought out. Hey, Marbury, hurry up and get bought out already, we actually need you now!!

its not too late until we are out of the playoffs. but if we don’t get home court we will have an additional, season ending, serious hurdle to overcome. What many of us will never get is when the big 3 window was probably 2 more years, why do what we did with Posey? i am painfully aware you may not agree, but its going to be impossible to replace him now imho. best bet is to get one big physical guy and a shooter. I can’t believe its come to this but marbury may be key. sacrifice for the good of the whole. It is the only way, i think. we need players, and we need to be realistic about the long list of weaknesses we have, many of which make no sense at all, ie, kg’s inability to stay in the post. Marbury and Alonzo. If I am DA, id try to get marbury, Alonzo and a great wing shooter to have on the court with kg, PP, Ray, and House, besides marbury

NO shot at 'Zo
He has a ring already, so he’s not ring chasing. It ‘s about comfort for him as well. He’s staying in Miami. Add that to the fact that Boston won it last year, Ring chasing goes out the window, because it doesn’t feel earned.

Cavs earned this one to a degree
Although the Celtics’ defense was awful at times, LeBron made absolutely insane shots consistently from wire to wire. He forced the Celtics to leave him open, and he forced the Celtics to a 7-13 point deficit most of the way. Then Mo Williams stepped up. Then Gibson, then Varejao. At some point, it was only that their shots were going in and ours weren’t. But then everyone was demoralized, so turnovers started raining in, and the game was over.

MARBURY
how many people take him now???
TA, Ray, Gabe, and EH can all play the 1 or 2. Some are a little undersized but half our team is undersized! We can find room for Marbury off the bench. Garnett would put him in his place if he got lippy!! He would bring scoring and spreading of the floor because you can’t lay off him. Along with Joe Smith or Alonzo, we would be good to go IMO.
I think it is obvious that something will be done sooner than later, especially with losses to LA and Cle.

8 more losses
And we surpass the amount of losses we had all last year…something to shoot for! WOOO … and to think we started 27-7…what the heck? its safe to say theres no chance we win 66 games this year, we havent even played half of the good teams once this year
by TheAncientRivalry on Jan 10, 2009 12:27 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
I thought the team would be hard pressed to match last season’s win total. That was an incredible mark. That doesn’t bother me if they don’t reach that mark.
27-9 now. They’d need to go 37 wins and 7 losses the rest of the way to match last season’s win total. Doable but very difficult.

Couple of observations
KG is not playing well, and I wonder if anyone notices it. With Pierce virtually locked down by James, Garnett should be the one demanding the ball and taking it to the hoop without fear. Ben Wallace is a good defender, but he is so over the hill he cannot keep up with anyone, and Varejao’s flops were rarely rewarded with calls tonight. They were doubling him in the 1st and he made the right decision, then they went away from it.
Then, he makes some poor decisions, like passing it to Rondo when you have an easy jump hook on a fast break? Finally taking it strong to the hoop when there’s 7 minutes left and the team looks beaten down? Perkins and Rondo are what make this team special, but at some point the superstars have to assert themselves during a rough patch.
Vinny Del Negro interviewed for the job today. I mean come on! Nobody else thinks this is nuts?

KG is as washed up as Ben Wallace at this point
And cant even back down carl landry…you think hes gonna dominate Ben Wallace? havent you heard all the excuses we give him regardless of being the highest paid player in the league?

Can we quote you on that?

Um, I dont see how its disgraceful considering who they both were in their primes, and how much they each have slipped

we’ve lost a few games and you’re saying Garnett is washed up, that’s disgraceful.
like i said, i’ll remember it and will remind you about it later.

This was the first game you watched since christmas? yeah, well KG has been subpar to say the least…and go ahead remind me beause I think he has declined significantly…what you actually think hes gonna play at a prime level 14-15 years into his career, ehh

“This was the first game you watched since christmas?”

Not a foul?
Anybody else laugh when Bron knocked Rondo to the deck on a breakaway layup … smacked him with is body, and Van Gundy said “That is not a foul!”. LOL.
by libermaniac on Jan 10, 2009 1:33 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
That was hilarious
Thanks for bringing this up, libermaniac.
You know what I particularly enjoyed? When JVG (who I love) was ranting about this, ESPN gave us a replay from an angle that only gave us what happened up top…and didn’t show the actual foul, which was as you said, LBJ getting him on the body bump at hip level. Coincidence?

My thoughts exactly
I thought they were going to call him out on that, but for some reason did not. I guess everyone is on Bron’s jock.

didnt look that bad...
i thought the C’s defense looked quite good in the 3rd quarter. The cavs were stagnant on offense, the exception being lebron. the cavs aren’t nearly as deep as the celtics. with the exception of james, who could score under pressure? everyone just stood around waiting for james to do something. i still think the celtics are an overall more talented team, they just played a very confident team in a very harsh environment. Let the celtics beat up on some lesser teams at home, and they’ll quickly regain their confidence.
did anyone notice garnett’s shoulder bump on lebron james while the ball was out of play? not really sure what he was trying to prove there…
ps lebron james is a monster. possibly better than kobe at this point.

Easy does it
While I agree that LBJ is the better player at this point, there’s no need to put down the perspectives of others.

I didnt think I was putting down his perspective, he never even said Kobe is better, he pretty much seems on the fence, and I feel it my duty to knock him off…LeBron is clearly sooo much better than Kobe

Not his perspective necessarily
but the “anyone who thinks otherwise” + verbal put-down formula was the problem there.

You're ridiculous.
I think maybe you read ESPN too much. LBJ can finish better, because he’s 6’9 285, and his defense has improved, but Kobe does everything else better. Have you been watching Kobe lately?
by wondahbap on Jan 10, 2009 10:11 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i think lebron’s defense is wayy better than kobe’s. kobe likes to drift away from the person he guards, and takes too many risks trying to get steals. seeing what lebron did to pierce last night made me a believer.
on the offensive end, i say its a wash. kobe has a better J, but lebron can score around the basket at will. they’re both basically unstoppable on that end.
by theshmoes on Jan 10, 2009 12:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Kobe’s defensive efforts have been uneven and have been for some time. He’s a very good defender but he doesn’t play at a regularly elite level on that end of the floor. He’s capable of doing it irregularly do.

Thoughts (repost from another entry's comment log)
Here it is. Perhaps not groundbreaking in any way, but here we go.
Everyone else got better roster-wise, and we got worse.
The cavs added Mo Williams. The Lakers got Bynum back. The Rockets got some combination of Artest, Yao and T-Mac to play together.
We lost Posey. Instead of replacing him, we got a lackluster center in POB and we gave BRIAN SCALABRINE more minutes. Now I truly do admire scals for the effort he puts in off the bench. He is a good natured, good spirited guy, who puts a lot of heart into his game. What he is not is a good basketball player.
My point is that at the beginning of the season everyone else was adjusting to roster changes, and we were riding the momentum coming off last year’s post season. The starters were fresh, and able to shoulder the load. As the season wears on, they are going to need some help. This stagnant roster is regressing because more and more pressure is being put on EVERYONE.
Part of it is also psychological. Drop a loss in LA, and a consecutive loss in GS, and you start to wonder.
I am calling for Danny Ainge to make a move, and for these guys to band together and put winning first again. PP (my favorite player in the NBA) will never be as good as LeBron and Kobe, but those guys will never put aside personal numbers for the team like Ray, Pierce and Garnett did last year.
I do not think we will win if we don’t get back on track mentally, and if the front office doesn’t start assembling a bench capable of contributing quality minutes.
Sorry for the long windedness, but these are my observations after a truly disappointing holiday season for the C’s.

Frustrated
I am very disappointed with the team right now. There’s no other way to put it. I give kudos to Doc for still being calm during the huddles. If I were Doc, I’d be blowing my top off screaming for these guys to get their act together. Pardon me but I need to put some steam out here.
What the heck is wrong with Rondo? Why can’t he go full attack mode all the time? When he attacks the basket, good things happen. Get to the freaking basket. It’s not like I’m asking House to take it to the hoop.
KG needs to stop taking those 20-footers all the time. Use your size and post up every once in a while. Take advantage of mismatches. I’m pretty sure he could take Wallace to school 9 out of 10 times.
Ray Allen needs to show up on the offense. Take more shots. Tonight, West or Wally World was on him. I don’t think it would take a genius to figure out that Allen could beat his man most of the time. Allen needs to take charge for the team especially when Pierce is clearly being handcuffed by Lebron on this game.
I’m losing hope on the bench by the day. We need new blood on the bench. Clearly, the bench isn’t getting the job done. Danny better be working on something right now.
With that said, I have to give credit to Cleveland. Lebron is a monster. He clearly outplayed Pierce and should be a very good contender for the MVP award for the season. The Cavs played excellent defense on the C’s during this game. They are, right now, a legit threat for the title. They wanted it more than the C’s and it clearly showed on this game.
I’m done ranting. I hope the C’s get their acts together by the next game or it will be a very embarrassing season for us.

This is no mystery
In an offseason when each team improved, Danny Ainge didn’t improve the Celtics. It’s as simple as that. If you’re to repeat, you have to improve, and the Celtics got worse. I (and any sighted person) could see that not re-signing Posey and not properly replacing Cassell and Brown was a step backward. Big Baby? O’Bryant? Please.
Thankfully, Doc’s not to blame. There’s just too much pressure on the bench to produce. And the Biggish 3 ain’t getting any younger.

the C’s are obviously tired. I also think Cleveland did a good job beating the D and spreading the floor. It allow Lebron to drive to the basket. The C’s D could not collapse to help out.

It surprises me to see people bash Danny Ainge.
for “not improving” the team. Do you realize the Celtics cap situation? Did you not see this coming when HE traded for a Championship and got two more $20 million players. He doesn’t have room to just sign players at will. The Celtics are already $8.85 million over the cap. Posey would have cost you 5.6 million per year for 4 years. Double that with luxury tax and you’re paying 11 million for 4 years. Posey had to go. If he signed him. You’d be wy over the cap and blaming Danny 2-3 years from now, then Posey is not worth the money and you’re stuck with him and his 16 minutes a game.
Danny is not to blame. Danny brought you a Chip. And don’t think that after years of mediocrity that the Celtics have been this great cash cow, that can just afford to spend foolishly like the Knicks.
