Detroit Pistons Previews
The Pistons that you know and hate are gone baby gone. This year's edition has little to do with the prior versions.
Detroit Pistons 2009-2010 Preview - Motown String Music
The Pistons' biggest strengths this year might actually be the team's biggest weaknesses from a year ago. Aside from a few players, last year's team was aging and played uninspired, complacent basketball. In just one summer, Detroit has transformed into one of the youngest teams in the NBA. With the added fresh blood, there will come an inherent passion to win that we haven't seen out of the Pistons as a collective unit in years (most notably during the ECF). John Kuester will stress an up-tempo style of play that the younger players will be able to excel at, especially each of the quartet of guards Kuester is capable of deploying in any given rotation. Never underestimate the strength of a team's hunger, especially Jason Maxiell's.

What are the team’s biggest weaknesses? DEFENSE! The most glaring and obvious weakness for Detroit is the "D". Always known for defense first, the Pistons now have an offensive mined squad and a lack of established big men.need4sheed_sm_villanuevaneed4sheed_sm_wilcox The Pistons new addition down low, Charlie Villanueva has a reputation to be allergic to rebounds and has been called "soft." Look for Jason Maxiell, Chirs Wilcox and Kwame Brown to do most of the dirty work for the Pistons this season.
Detroit Pistons Season Preview | Empty the Bench
Pistons fans accustomed to the "championship or bust" mantra may not like it, but for the first time in a long time, realistic title hopes are a sucker’s dream. Here’s how I see it (and there’s a certain degree of blue sky to this, even): - Develop palpable chemistry between all these new pieces early in the season - Stay competitive throughout - Squeeze into the playoffs - Steal a series from a higher seed - Head into The Summer of 2010 with more positive vibes, more continuity, and a clearer vision of what they need to get back to the top than there was after their embarassing first-round sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers in April.

If Rip didn't like playing with Allen Iverson
how’s he going to like a not as good version? And Rodney Stuckey and CV are on the team? I hope this team plans on running and gunning, because the ball will stick. Between Gordon and Stuckey, no one might get the ball unless they rebound.
They don’t have a real presence at center, nor a legit PG. They’ve filled the roster with wings and ‘tweeners. Since they’ve committed to Gordon, they need to trade Rip; moving him to Utah for Boozer makes far too much sense on both sides for that to actually happen. I’d take Rip over Gordon, but the Gordon/Prince/Stucky combo is OK at the wings (even though Stucky is not and never will be a PG). Put Boozer in the frontcourt to do the dirty work and to give them an inside presence, and the weaknesses of Charlie V, Kwame, and Maxiel are less apparent.
As presently constructed, a fringe playoff squad. Swap Rip for Boozer, they’ve got a decent chance of being a little spunky.
