Stephon Marbury says he hates "people like Pierce." But why ?
Pierce is a two faced punk. He sold his "friend" Antoine down the river. I hate him & I hate phony people like Pierce
That is what it says on his twitter account. As a pp fan i now do not like "starbury" any more. I believe people like stephon just need to shut their moulth once in a while. The reason why i have posted this is because mybe some of you celtic fans can tap in the mind of starbury (a chellenge to do) an tell me why he has done this to paul pierce ?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Cause Starbury is like a 5 yr old
and Pierce is, uh, actually playing right now and scheduled to make $19m this season.
Starbury can’t even get a job for the Vet’s minimum…

If Starbury didn't already end his chances of ever playing in the NBA again before
I think he just did with this beef with Pierce. I really thought he wanted to revive his career. Maybe he realized JTV would give him more money or something. Well, more power to him, I guess.
Seriously, I can’t help but feel that Starbury doesn’t care about the NBA anymore. Well, if that’s really true, I suppose I can respect that. However, I don’t know how he sold Walker down any river. Something I miss?

Here's what I don't get:
Why is this the thing that seems to have led a few folks recently to decide they don’t like Marbury “anymore”?
How is any of this out of line with much of his behavior through the last decade?
He didn’t suddenly become a hard-to-like miscreant. That’s who he is and has been.

My guess? Because the players, Doc and Danny defended the guy when they brought him in
…and have been wisely silent about him since.

because
Starbury never dissed Celtics players, and when he came here earlier this year it looked as if he was committed to winning with the Big 3 and being a part of the best franchise of all-time. Now that he gave up on the team when he could have been back here this year for a ring, which would have been his only one, he went crazy on starbury tv, which by the way says his account got suspended. So he turns his attention to dissing Pierce and stuff, that is why people don’t like him now. And I have been dissapointed in Starbury as well. No other organization did more for him than the C’s, because they gave him his last chance to be a winner again and he let them down by doing Starbury TV which by the way was actually stupid. It was a good idea, but they didn’t do anything on the program, Starbury just stared into the mirror and sang Drake songs. They could have made that TV way better by going places and having guests and responding to people who were the real fans. Starbury only addressed haters and I typed in like 100+ positive comments to get his attention and he never responded to them.

For the record on Starbury TV...
It moved to starburyplus on justin.tv. Although, I doubt you really care.
Apart from that, I pretty much agree with everything you said.

Maybe...
Maybe Marbury’s time in New York really affected him more mentally than he is acknowledging…
Looking back at his time in Boston, I can honestly say that Doc and the C’s organization gave him a great opportunity to shine.
Marbury if you read this know that God loves you, man.

Stephon Loserbury
I am sure Paul Pierce feels really bad about what Marbury has to say! HaHa. He is a loser and will stay that way. Who is employed? Who is unemployed? What the heck was
Pierce supposed to do, cover Walker’s debts? Give it a break Marbury. Maybe you have money to throw around, grow up!

id like to see marbury say this too PP face, and see how long he was standing after. I dont really get how PP sold Walker out, i dont get what he is referring too there anyone wanna clue me in. after this is seems obvious that when people were being optomistic about marbury saying it was the knicks fault he was not playing seems ridicilous now. it was clearly marbury all along, and now hes stuck not doing anything hes got nothing better to do but bash the people that are a success. sorry marbury if you crawled under a rock and nobody ever saw you again, hey the world would some how move on. jus an arrogant prick who is desperate for attention

just speculating but...
Perhaps Marbury is upset because he thought Pierce would talk to ownership to help him land a bigger contract with the Celtics and Pierce told him that he hadn’t done enough to earn more than the vet min last season? I’m sure Marbury would see something like that as sucking up to ownership and not looking after a fellow player. He’s twisted like that.

In some ways, I view Stephon’s breakdown and childlike, thug-like antics as similar to those displayed by Mike Tyson during his spiralling fall from superstardom. It is my belief that Stephon marbury is a very depressed, and very insecure guy who for so long as used his basketball success to fuel an ego that was indestructible. Now with so much time off, a relatively unsuccessful stint with the Celts, and no teams knocking on his door for his services, he is doubting himself. The signs are obvious…In my experience, people who are that loud and obnoxious dont actually believe their own hype. Instead, they are afraid of the world, afraid of failure, and afraid of losing what they once had…what they think was success…Marbury is a little boy who needs some intensive psychiatric help and some good friends around him. The guy still has enormous talent (he should flashed of brilliance with the C’s) and remember…in 2007 the guy was averaging close to a double double (points/assists)…Thats only two years ago. I honestly believe that he has lost all confidence in his basketball abilities…He needs a friends and a trainer to put him through rigourous training sessions and basketball practices and then perhaps, he needs to sign with a team to come off the bench…He could be a starter in the NBA within six months no doubt…Some medication in the form of an antidepressant might be increddibly helpful as well.
You cannot tell me that Stephon believes Paul Pierce is a sub par player. Marbury no doubt came to Boston, and witnessed first hand the greatness of his play and the awe inducing love that the city and fans have for him. Marbury has never had that…He has never won “big games” that meant anything…nor has he ever raised an NBA Finals MVP trophy abover his head…He has never sat with two other allstars and preached the philosophy of selflessness and team first…Stephon was and can still be a great player but unless he gets help both on and off the court he will be nothing more than a guy who wasted his talent and never tested his potential. It will be sad to see him fade out as a angry, jealous man with nothing left but an shallow sense of self masked in a tough guy facade and defined by boyish Twitter put-downs of other great, talented men still working hard to realize their dreams like Paul Pierce and Jay-Z.

Pierce is making 19 mil this season and is the captain of the team Marbury played for last season…. wouldnt be even weirder or out of the norm if he didnt take a shot at pierce?
What is this bit about Antoine? by all accounts Pierce and Antoine are still friends to this day, and last I checked Danny traded him…not pierce

Is Marbury Any Different than Pierce?
Pierce does run his mouth too. On and off twitter. After the ’08 finals he claimed he was the best player in the world. Right……
Then after the Lakers won the finals last season, he put on his twitter account “The finals were a german shepherd vs a poodle. Don’t worry the rotwielers will be back.” Right…..
Sure Pierce didn’t single out an individual. He only singled out EVERYONE. I see Pierce as no different as Starbury. At least Stephon was attacking an individual based on morals. Pierce was running his mouth about his arrogance.
Well let me welcome everybody to the wild wild west. A state that's untouchable like Elliot Ness.

Just because Paul Pierce bashed the Lakers like most of Celtic Nation doesn’t mean he’s just like Marbury. If you mean that Pierce has an ego, then is everyone on the Celtics like Marbury? Hey, if you’re answer’s yes, then that’s fine, I just want to know your true perspective.
Other than that, do you really believe Stephon based on what he said about Pierce’s morals? That he threw Walker under the bus? That’s hilarious, and maybe mmmmm is right about you.

He was the best player in the world...during May/June 2008
He worked Kobe over (and Lebron 2 series earlier), the so-called best player in the world. I don’t see a problem with verbally expressing what everybody else just saw. and how do you ‘single out’ everybody? It’s impossible to single out everybody. by ‘single’-ing out something you effectively have to narrow it down to a ‘single’ thing, which is not what everybody is. Pierce has never attached anybody in the media that I can remember, not even the guys that tried to kill him.

Fair enough, I was in the middle of writing an argumentative comment. I wish I had the free time to jump around to other teams blogs and try to cause trouble. Sounds like a fun and meaningful way to enjoy life.

I may seem to be trolling, but I like debate. So no matter what you think of me, I still believe Pierce says a lot of stupid things. Ray Allen said some stupid things about Kobe when he was a supersonic, but he’s kept his mouth shut. KG used to keep his mouth shut, but now runs his mouth at smaller players than him.
Big deal, you think that I only enjoy life by writing argumentative statements on a Celtics blog. Well my fellow basketball enthusiast, I simply enjoy debate. And to be able to do it in an environment when tempers cannot result in anything damaging except getting kicked off a website is a great place to do it.
So, final thought, Starbury was an idiot for calling Pierce out on some most-likely-erroneous statements. But I do think Pierce said some stupid stuff before, so I was comparing the two since they were teammates.
Well let me welcome everybody to the wild wild west. A state that's untouchable like Elliot Ness.

I don’t think anyone with a brain will disagree with him. I won’t knock Kobe for telling it how it is. If some of his teammates cried in their beer night because of that, then that only further proves those Lakers were soft. : )

there is kno point in debating the fact that pierce has made stupid comments b4, becasue every player in the league has done it. how many times has kobe called out and sold out team mates too many to count. i vagely remember artest saying that brandon roy was better than kobe and lebron all players make dumb comments.

every player
basically says something stupid at one point or another. All the players, Lakers etc., Lebron has said plenty of stupid things, etc.
The difference between Starbury and Pierce is that Pierce plays basketball and Starbury doesn’t. Starbury should have been in Boston all summer to get the ring this year. Instead he went to LA to play out Drake. Because of that, you cannot compare the two.

shaking hands
lebron made comments standing by his decision to not shake hands, so that is stupid. Its not that he just didn’t address the media, he didn’t acknowledge the Orlando players either. If Garnett or Pierce did that they would have made an issue out of that too, maybe not as much as Lebron, but they would have been called out for it. Lebron is a guy that is worshiped, they even made a huge artwork piece out of him in a corn field, people are crazy about him and as much as he has done for basketball people have given back to him. So for him to put his headphones on, listen to Cyndi Lauper, cash his $200,000 check for the game and run to the bus like a little baby, only to stand by his comments later about the incident, that is stupid. If you don’t want to shake hands and talk to the media, don’t cash your check, give it away to charity.

its not what Lebron did that was so bad, it was how he continues to act after the fact. He stands by his decision and that is stupid. 20,000 fans pay $50+ bucks to go to an NBA game and watch their favorite players. Lebron plays for 3 hours and gets a $200,000 paycheck for the evening. This isn’t a street game or a pick up game, they are called professional athletes for a reason. He should have apologized and vowed never to do that again. Now ask Lebron this question, if he ever wins the title what does he want his best opponent to do be it Kobe, or Dirk, or CP3?(because he’s not beating the Celtics). Does he want them to walk away or congratulate him? I bet he wants Kobe to shake his hand, so dude needs to forget that not shaking hands not talking stuff. Can you name another profession where someone cashes a $200,000 check and walks away like a little baby?

after the celtics got knocked off by orlando pierce literally walked off the court without walking by a magic player, and the only reason he took no critism for it was becasue he addressed the media so no1 payed ne attention to it

court
that is the difference Pierce addressed the media and LeBron didn’t. LeBron didn’t do what he is supposed to do earn his contract. If a player said they would never address the media after a loss would they get a contract? Also, I don’t think if you asked Pierce if refusing to acknowledge your opponents is the right thing to do that he would say yes. Up until now I haven’t heard that type of comment from Pierce.
by star18 on Oct 19, 2009 4:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
handshake
also it is not a requirement to go and shake the hands of your opponent, every sport has different end of game reactions. LeBron went out of his way to make a statement that its not what he does because he doesn’t play the game like that and he doesn’t accept defeat. I bet he’s got no problem accepting his check though. $20 Mil a year + endorsements Lebron can be the next athelte to make $1 billion.
Pro athletes don’t make statements like that because they get paid big money. They may do it from time to time, but its not something they go out of their way to say because it just doesn’t seem right. So now the guy who gets the most money, the most fans to worship, and the biggest media spotlight throughout sports refuses to acknowledge anyone after he loses. That doesn’t look good. Because this is the statement he is really making.
“I love cashing my $1 billion check and earning 500 times what an average American makes, however if I lose I will keep all the money and not acknowledge anyone who has beaten me in basketball, the game which has made me $1 billion dollars richer.” Looks great for America doesn’t it.

Where are all the Marbury "fan-boys" now?
What happened to the “Bring back Marbury” crowd?
Why didn`t Marbury refuse to come to Boston last Feb…out of respect for the “terrible” thing PP did to Antoine?
Why did Marbury wait until it became obvious that no team would go near him BEFORE blasting PP?
by Title 18 on Oct 16, 2009 11:50 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Why didn't he refuse last Februrary?
I dunno. I think Marbury clearly wanted a ring, and now that he clearly will not only not get that, but won’t get on a NBA team this year, he’s probably jealous. Or, Marbury thinks Pierce sold HIM down the river, and thus Marbury thinks Pierce did the same to Walker. Oh well.
by Tai on Oct 16, 2009 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I disagree.
I think Marbury was playing – or at least he thought he was playing – for his next big contract. I think a ring was a nice incentive, but clearly not his main goal or he would’ve signed the $1.3m contract the Celtics offered this year.
When it became clear to him that no team was gonna offer him big money, he did what most children do when the don’t get what they want – threw a tantrum.

Starbury fan
I will always be a fan of Starbury as a person, as a player though I am dissapointed in him. The Celtics had nothing but love for Starbury, now Starbury disses the Celtics. All he had to do was turn the Drake song off and get in the gym in Boston. If he doesn’t want to do that, and doesn’t want to play basketball that is fine. Just don’t turn your back on Boston, those were and should still be your boys and they went a long ways to get you back in the league. So he shouldn’t have any negativitey towards Boston, regardless of the contract situation. He was offered a contract, even if it was a low salary, he could have been here this season if he wanted to.

Starbury quote
Marbury, unsigned as a free agent this summer after turning down the Boston Celtics’ offer of $1.3 million, vows he will play again.
“I’m resting, doing what Michael Jordan did, enjoy life, do things I haven’t done in 16 years, keep building my empire,” Marbury told the newspaper. “I wasn’t going to Boston for that money. It was a prudent business decision to take off this year.”
This is where I do not agree with Starbury, it wasn’t a prudent business decision to make. Had he signed the $1.3, won the title and played well, he would have gotten a better contract the year after. It was a stupid business decision. Because he still hasn’t shown that he has regained his form as a player. Last year was only a couple of months, you have to do it for a whole year. He hasn’t proved anything as far as coming back goes, and this year he could have done it. He could have won the title formed a possible Big 5 and he bailed out over some stupid Drake stuff. When his boys and what he really should stand for was here all along. It wasn’t in LA staring into a mirror and responding only to haters and people with stupid comments. His boys were here in Boston and he let them down.
