Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

C's Backups Lose To Knicks Starters

The preseason: where losing happens and nobody cares.  This was the last time all the starters will play before the season opener but the starters didn't even finish the game.  I would have hoped that the reserves could still beat the Knicks starters but oh well.  And since I didn't see the game, that's about all I have to say about that.

Here are some other notes.

um our starters played no less then 25 minutes, and never put the game away by any means
I dont see how thats the knicks beating our bench..our starting 5 and then our first 3 guys off the bench played most of the minutes last night…they just werent that good and not that into it

went through the motions

for much of the game, the C’s just went through the motions like a throwaway game in Mid-March.

Daniels and Rondo finally looked good though. Sheed was just a waste on the floor.

Heading is misleading

Out starters played quite a bit last night. Knicks had more energy than Celtics, including our starters. I thought we looked a bit tired, old. Hope just an aberation.

i donot like the knicks style of play. shoot the three, shoot fast, free the shooter. dullsville. no team movement. all individuals. i hope they lose, lose, lose. sheed was a no show and really looked slow on d. hoping he keeps his token efforts to the preseason. i’m sorry to hear scal hurt his ankle. he did look challenged out there.

The knicks wanted this game the C's did not....

even though it was just a preseason game.

The Celtics played with no energy and just were giong through the motions.

Most everybody looked like they were sleeping on the court and stuck in cement especially the bigs like Perk and especially Rasheed.

Daniels and Rondo were the exceptions though playing with some energy in their game.

They had the day before off in nyc, I believe. Not really surprised they came out with lackluster effort. The Knicks starters did play our bench including deep bench guys Scal and Giddens for at least the last five minutes of a close game.

What is surprising, and Jeff mentioned it, is that Doc has not played a regular rotation yet and this was basically it. Kind of laissez-faire, no? Maybe would’ve been nice to see the guys break the thirty minute mark and finish out a game just to let the legs get reacquainted with that old feeling one time before opening night…or maybe not. I guess Ray got over 30. I don’t think Pierce or KG have in preseason. Oh well.

momma said there'd be days like this

look at it this way.. we played like s—- and still had a chance to win the game. I definitely think we will have some funky periods this year especially if we get injuries. we’re good enough to win it all but we’re also old enough that teams with a lot of energy can take it to us. The knicks shoot a lot of 3’s and are the kind of team that we may struggle with since they play uptempo forcing our old guys to spend a lot of energy. The warriors are another team like that

We had no defense

Plain, simple. In the end, we scored 100+ and lost. That pretty much means no defense.
