Best Celtics Bars?
I just moved to Boston for Grad School and I am looking for some good Celtics bars to enjoy the season.
Do some locals have good suggestions for the best pre and post-game places around the Garden? I am also interested in places to watch away games with some real atmosphere.
Why the heck does this post have to be 75 words long? Feel free to ignore the rest of the nonsense so I can reach the minimal character limit.
Thanks.
Brian

There aren’t any.
I live near Copley and I had to go to 4 or 5 different plces to see Game 7 v. Cleveland in 2008 in a decent bar. If it’s playoff time you better hope the Red Sox aren’t playing.

Celtics Bars
Three places I can suggest. I’ve been to Sullivan’s Tap, Four’s, World’s Greatest Sports Bar. They’re all in the North Station area. Decent places. I think Sully’s Tap most resembles a sports bar.

Boston Celtics Bars
The traditional Garden experience has to include Sullivan’s Tap, even though it is a craphole. The Fours has pretenses to upscale and I personally don’t feel comfortable there. If you like good beer, the Boston Beer Works is terrific. I love to go there before games. Some people like the Harp, but I think it is a place where twenty- and thirty-somethings with backwards hats go to act like big shots. Of course there’s about 9 zillion others between the Garden and Faneuil Hall.
About a half-mile walk away, across from the Gov’t Ctr T stop is a real gem called the Kinsale.

Cigar Masters
Not a total bar (in that they only serve beer, wine and port), but an awesome place to see a game, if only because I can light up a nice maduro and watch the game from a leather couch. Folks may think the attitude’s a bit snooty, but only if you let it get to you. Until the deluxe man-cave with the high-end ventilation system is finished (in my dreams), Cigar Masters is the closest thing to heaven I can think of!

I should mention that they were serving Sam Adams Brick Red during the summer too… very good stuff!
