A Suggestion For Mr. Stern
If David Stern is sincere about making adjustments to better the quality and integrity of the National Basketball Association, then address 'palming/carrying violations.' Very few keep their hands on top of the ball when dribbling. Most, if not all players control the ball as they dribble by curling their wrists and forearms under the ball. We have all seen it.
One of my questions is why do players feel they need to palm and carry the ball so much? Bob Cousy dribbled correctly and became a Hall of Famer. He was a master of deception with the basketball. He played the game the right way. Some could argue that he did so during a different era. The game, and the players were much slower back then. Maybe it's because they were more fundamentally sound. Today's players are as focused at deceiving the refs as they are the opposition.
The reality is NBA players have become bigger than the game itself. Proof of this is how much complaining they do after being whistled for a foul. Imagine the look on Kobe's face if he were to be whistled for palming...But that's a theme for another post.
Is the league so concerned about the entertainment value that it allows players to cheat? Allowing players to palm, carry scoop the ball when dribbling has gotten way out of control. Soon players will be taking the rock under your arm and running with it like a football player. Some carry the ball as if they were flipping a hamburger on the grill. What's even more frustrating are the random occasions when officials actually do blow the whistle on this. Many times refs will only do so as a 'make-up' call.
Mr. Stern, if you get a moment, please consider doing something about this. Stop worrying about hurting over blown egos.
Your over paid athletics already of a reputation for being lazy and not always giving 100% effort. Change is always hard, but necessary. At first, the whistle may blow none stop. The games might even get longer. The players, if they are good enough, will adapt accordingly. Make a decision about this rule before the league loses its integrity completely. Do not be afraid of your players, or of what enforcing this rule might do to the league's marketing value. SportsCenter will understand. If palming/carrying violations still exist in the rule book, either have your officials enforce it, or get rid of it all together. This rule is a joke. I guess there is an 'unwritten' rule not to call the rule that's actually written. These are supposed to be the best basketball players in the world...certainly they can dribble correctly.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Well actually..
Those palming violations have been addressed this offseason and were being called by the replacement refs. Now that the good ole’ zebras are back, we’ll see if this trend continues.

just look at lebron
in just 1 game every time lebron was called for a foul he would question the ref. maybe they should give a technical for thinking you are better than the ref

Correct me if I'm wrong...
But wasn’t LeBron the only player called for a palming violation in last night’s game?
