A real shame
I really enjoyed Delonte’s personality when he was playing in Boston. Loved his game, too.
Ugh...
Today’s theme is “former Celtics players go wrong”. Sigh.
Can we get a Vin Baker update?

Wahoo!
I knew the Celticsblog membership wouldn’t let me down.

didn’t Al Jefferson recently get hurt again?
if I were Ryan Gomes, I’d take out career insurance soon

oddly enough
It seems like Bassy is the healthiest of all of them.

If I were Ryan Gomes
I’d demand a trade back to Boston haha. Minnesota could use, Tony Allen, right?
Talk about blowing an opportunity..
People were hard on Sweetney this preseason for his weight and yet they give Delonte limitless slack. I liked his game too, although I thought he overdid some things which made him become injury prone, but his actions are inexcusable.
As sad as the Antoine financial situation is, I think Antoine to date has shown more smarts and maturity than Delonte. I’d rather know a happy-go-lucky positive guy like ’Toine who is financially irresponsible than a brooding and irresponsible (not showing up to practice with the Cavs, carrying 3 guns, beating his wife) guy like Delonte.
I like the Celtics chances against the cavs if Delonte is mentally out of it.
I agree with you to an extent
But the reason people are hesitant to judge Delonte is that he has battled depression, and people don’t want to be too hard on someone who has demons that he can’t seem to control. He shouldn’t just be dealt a free pass because of that, you’re right, but I think it’s fine that people think of Delonte as a good guy and are hoping that he can turn his life around, rather than just bashing him.
Depressed?
Delonte West is 26 years old…blessed with perfect physical health…has earned over $9M in his career.
This guy has nothing to be depressed about!!!
Eh...
Depression has just as much to do with the balance of chemicals in your brain as it does with triggering events. There are plenty of rich people who suffer from depression.

He's not depressed
He has Bi-Polar disorder which is a serious mental condition that can drastically effect you’re moods, which sometimes results in depression and/or manic episodes.
As someone who has dealt with it, let me say that its not as simple as “oh well, I should be happy so I will be”. No, you have to have a good treatment system in place and a lot of emotional support just to get through day-to-day activities.
I can’t imagine what its like to have to deal with it on such a public level – given his situation, I’m honestly surprised he’s been able to keep it together this long.
Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!
Wife beating? Are you sure?

“Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West’s bad year just got a lot worse. Delonte’s wife is now charging him with domestic violence after he tried to to take her wedding ring off last night. Before boarding a flight from Cleveland, Mrs. West filed a domestic violence report.
The couple are said to be on the brink of divorce, which has been contributing to West’s erratic behavior that includes a weapons charge and missed practices in recent months. In the latest incident, Mrs. West said the NBA star got physical in their apartment. Police didn’t notice any visible injuries on her when the report was filed. "
I don’t know what happened either.
