Cavs already making excuses

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/10/cleveland_cavaliers_wouldnt_mi.html

The Calaliers, as was readily apparent in the preseason game last week, is having difficulty gelling.  This morning's Plain Dealer article seems to touch on that point and reflect a sentiment among the Cavs players and coach, that this game being only their first, may not be as important as games further into the season.  While I understand their rationale, the problem for the Cavs this year is that both Boston and Orlando will be strong out of the gates, steamrolling through most of the season and in case the Cavs forgot, homecourt does mean something in the playoffs.  I dont think Cleveland has the luxury this year to go through an "adjustment" period...If they must, it cant be any more than a couple of weeks as again, making up ground in the W/L column will not be easy this year with the Celtics ripping through their scheduale...On the other side of the ball, the Celtics have displayed great cohesion and flow all throughout camp and the playoffs.  They appear to be in even a better position than they were when they finished the Championship run on 07-08.  Their new players (unlike Cleveland) are extremely comfortable already in the rotation (the difference largely attributable to Doc Rivers being a superior coach to Brown), and the transitions in first and second team play are seamless...Should be a fun game tonight...Im so sick of the Shaq and Lebron talk (Shaq is lucky if he plays 40 games this season)...Its time for the Celtics to send a message to Cleveland and the league and there is no time like the present...

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

i agree with you for most part, except for Orlando coming strong out of the gate. I think they’re going to be tough, but with Lewis suspended for the first 10 games, they are going to struggle. I predict 7-3 for them to start. 6-4 for the Cavs. and 9-1 for the Celtics.
