KG not looking very fluid. (Red's Army) To be fair, Doc did say everyone was a little stiff yesterday.

Hmmmm...
He definitely doesn’t look right. Probably just working the kinks out. If he is still moving like that in a week or two, I’ll be worried.
P2 is the man.
No need to panic...
Rivers substituted Kevin Garnett, whose running gait seemed awkward, with 3:58 remaining in a scrimmage. "He went the whole time, until the very end,’’ Rivers said. "Probably went longer than he should have, because there was a lot of stopping and starting, which is not good for any of them, and definitely not good for him. Because you stop and explain, and they get stiff and you start them back up. Today was a day when we should have taken him out more. He just got stiff. Same reason we took Rasheed off the floor. I just think with all the stopping and starting, the older guys, that’s tough.’’
Kevin Garnett has been telling us since Monday that his surgically repaired right knee feels fine, and there is no reason not to believe him. Still it has warm Celtic Nation to know KG is willing to walk – and run and cut and jump – the talk.
It was therefore quite interesting when Shelden Williams tried to replace Garnett on the fly during the game, only to get a straight-arm worthy of the Heisman Trophy model.
"He said four minutes," Garnett barked as Williams went back to the sideline.
A few moments later, KG came off the court. He and others had experienced some tightness, but it was more from the manner in which practice was conducted than a statement on their conditioning.
"He probably went longer than he should have because there was a lot of stopping and starting, which is not good for any of them," coach Doc Rivers said. "You stop, we’re explaining, they get stiff and you start them back up. Today was a day I probably should have taken him out more.
"We went longer on some breakdown stuff, which is boring, and they end up getting stiff. But overall I’ve been thrilled with practice, and training camp has been just terrific."
And here’s how the KG described the knee the other day:
It’s not a matter of what I can’t do or whatever – just from power and strength and not having the option to play, is difficult," he said. "Like you see when I sprint, I can’t just (makes sound of revving motor) like I want to. Eighty-five percent, 90 percent would be pretty accurate."

Not encouraging
I’ve probably missed some, but among videos that I’ve seen of KG this offseason, the gimpy-to-nongimpy ratio is 1:0.
I’d be more optimistic that it’s really just “tightness” “from the manner in which practice was conducted” if I had seen a dozen videos of KG looking fluid and great during practices that were conducted in a better manner, and this one was clearly an outlier. But instead, this is my one data point, and on the other side I just have the words of KG, the other players, and the Celtics brass, who have a clear track-record of obfuscating and sounding overly cheery.
Also...
Hat tip to xiehaorong for uploading this in the first place.

Wish I looked that bad at the end of a workout. Jeez. Get those kinks worked out KG!

Hudson looks huge!
Hudson looks a lot bigger than I thought he was. KG looks a little gimpy but it looks like he’s just working the kinks out.
HMMMMM
The Positive – KG says his knee is fine, he never said that last year when the front office was saying he would be back.
The Negative – My eyes watching him limp.
Washington fans are swallowing hard over Arenas footage, too
Preseason is a nervous time. Even healthy players are fighting through it right now.
The only difference is
Having been there in person with Gil, his “ginger” running (which ended up being nothing) looked nowhere near as bad as KG did in that clip.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
That should read "gingerly running"

Oops.
Sorry, I posted my comment before correctly typing and finishing it.
I was trying to say KJ no doubt is limping in the video.
Time will tell if he is just working out the kinks or his knee is sore or not mechanically sound.
We as fans have no idea what the truth is about KJ’s knee and if the C’s are hiding the truth from us.
All we can do is wait and see how KJ looks running next week in camp.
If their is a problem with the knee the truth will eventually come out sooner or later and no one, either KJ or the Celtics will be able to hide it.
This is the same footage they showed on CSN 2 or 3 nights ago.
And he has not been mentioned as struggling since.

watch tonight
we will be able to see for ourselves tonight how kg looks because they are streaming the practice on nba.com at 7pm
Yup
Cant wait to see how things look today, probably will even get a upfront interview. Should be interesting.
KG does not fully "trust" the knee...
He appears to be “holding back”…NOT yet psychologically comfortable enough to go “all out” on it so soon after surgery.
Just doesn't look right...
Any way you cut it, it just doesn’t look good. He should have been pulled out, as far as I am concerned. He is clearly favoring one leg. KG should be the last person deciding if he should go.
If there is something genuinely wrong
with KG and he continues to practice someone should be fired.

Para Olympics
Garnett looks like a candidate for the para olympics based on this video. No world class athlete limps like he is shown doing due to “stiffness”. None of the other players in the video appear to be suffering from this Doc denominated affliction.
No Worries
If he hadn’t had the surgery, I’d have watched this and thought he looked stiff. And given what Doc said, I tend to still believe that. KGs not in the best shape right now for basketball, so it’s not surprising he would get tied up.
Everything I know about his surgery tells me he’s going to be fine, so I see no reason to see this in a negative light. KG will be better this year, than he was the first half of last season.
Having had 4 knee surgeries on one knee including ACL reconstruction
I think it is a combo of about three things
1.) The mind – you keep babying the knee because you are worried about hurting it and therefore you limp and skip a little as you baby it. Every twinge you are trying to protect it so you step lightly up and down the court and that can create a skip type limp
2.) Stiffness combined with #1 above makes the limp seem even more pronounced.
3.) Weakness in the upper leg as you grow tired and it makes your running look awkward.
Well I am probably full of poop but that is what I recall on mine and I am also trying not to think of the worst.
Peace…..and hello amenhotep04
Is it Soup Yet?
Pretty scary
This is pretty scary! He looks worse than he did last year. We may need a miracle…
Can some one please explain to me.............
if the only procedure (that we were told) by the C’s that KG had on his knee last spring was a simple surgery to clean out bone spurs and that the no tendons in the knee were torn or repaired, then what what is the reason for a limp several months later?
I could understand if tendons were ripped and repaired that inflammation and scarring of those tendons could occur which could explain KG limping, but since we are told he only had bone spurs removed and only bone, not tendons were surgically touched then why again is he limping?
I guess I am asking is it normal or abnormal to limp several months after having surgery to remove bone spurs from ones knees like we are told KG did?
Is their a Doctor in the house clarify this confusion for me?
I hope you are right Master Po and its just......................
the normal healing process both physically and mentally we are seeing KG struggle with which is causing him to limp.
Lets hope for the best.
According to Doc...
KG is moving well in practice, but is having some shin issues. That explains the limping.

Shin Issues?
Its not clear in the above video, but I think I saw earlier this week on the local news this same exact footage (which was visibly much clearer on tv) and it showed that KG was wearing a black shin type brace around his shin.
3 Questions:
1)Did anyone else notice this shin brace I saw?
2)If KG is having a shin issue when did it start and what type of shin issue are we talking about. and id it serious?
3)Could the shin brace and injury be just a trick by the Celtics to throw us all off and make us think that KG’s limping is due to the shin when it possibly could be due to his knee?
Quick question, blogosphere...
When’s the last time we saw video of an All-Star power forward recovering from knee surgery working out in practice — so that we can provide some perspective?
This video shows and means nothing. Zilch.
don't overvalue this clip..
Did you guys ever play the game of basketball and do a hard training like in this clip?? I have had training and that clip doesn’t look ugly – he just wanna came out of his rust and thats all!! He never showed pain in this clip or had to run on full power – thats a hard and long training just never stopping over a long time – just to build up a good condition. I full believe in what Doc and K.G. are saying and happy about the enthusiasm that K.G. showing again.. Can’t wait to see him playing…
I asked god and he said: L.A. will lose again next year!! ^_°
Doesn't look fluid.. oh man haha
