Will the Celtics seek to trade Tony Allen and Scalabrine and if so for what?
I keep asking this question and think Danny will maybe showcase them a bit early in the season and will then pull the trigger near the trade deadline when he can possibly get a better deal for both Tony Allen's and Scal's expiring contracts.
I hope Danny can trade Allen for a bigger, stronger, defending back up small forward.
Even though we have Daniels I think having a another bigger stronger back up small forward on the bench would come in handy in the playoffs especially when we have to face Lebron.
I hope we can trade Scal for a legit 7 foot back up rebounding, defensive center.
With Perks past shoulder problems, Garnetts knee and Rasheeds age we could use the extra insurance on the bench in case any of them get hurt during the season.
Even though Williams & Baby can do some spot duty at center, they are not legit centers, are undersized to play the position and if any of the other front line players go down that would leave us with no legit center on the bench and in big trouble.
Also having another legit 7 footer who can rebound, defend and use his six fouls will come in handy especially in the playoffs when we have to face big centers like Shaq and Howard etc.
Well that's what I think Danny's plans are for Scal and T.Allen and what I hope he can get in return for them.
Whats do the rest of you all out in Celtics nation think?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Same money better usage:
Both will be gone by trade deadline. Hopefully that can be parlayed into a Bo Outlaw. We need a real player not some flub of a seven footer. We need someone that can truly contribute right now. I think walker is a serious talent but knee injuries seem to keep resurfacing. For that reason alone we need to shore up the small forward spot. The money can be spent on scrubs or someone of significance. Same money better usage. When I say significant I don’t mean a one dimensional over payed, border line old player like Nocioni. I mean someone young a possible starter

Seriously...
TA can’t be traded for a bottled water. No ne would take this guy. As for Scalabrine, I would much rather see him stay with Boston than be traded for a 12-13-14th type of player off the bench. But of course, if as suggested that TA and Scal can be traded for Outlaw; hey, why not?

Chuckle. We’re not going to get a starter-quality player for a guy with no value in the league (Tony) and a borderline end of the bench guy (Scal).

Yes we need another true backup center .
Danny will patiently wait for the best deal before he trades both Scal and Allen.
Both players are limited in talent and we have no need for them on our roster.
They do have valuable expiring contracts, so some team should be intrested in trading for them at some point before the trade deadline.
I agree a strong forward who can defend would be great to have on the bench.
Outllaw would be a nice pickup.
We can not just depend on Daniels to be our defensive small forward behind Pierce.
Also a back up center is a must, as you say since if a injury occurs to Perk or Garnett and Rasheed has to start we will not have any legit center coming off the bench for us .
We do not want to head into the playoffs if a injury occurs to Perk or Garnett with Baby as our back up center or we will be toast.
We do not need a allstar big name backup center, just a solid back up center like in the mold of a Marcus Camby, Scott Pollard, PJ Brown who can rebound, defend and bang against the big boys in the playoffs for us.
Whatever Danny does he can only upgrade the team if he trades Scal and Allen, since those 2 players are not very use full for the Celtics currently.

Please tell me you mean a Bo Outlaw in his prime type-player. He hasn’t set foot on an NBA court in over two years. I’d like to see us get someone like maybe one of the Collins twins or maybe take a flyer on someone like David Harrison, whose game I liked. I wish we’d been able to draft Suton, as he’d have addressed this need perfectly, with room to develop. But I’d honestly rather have a true point guard backup than another big man. You have six players who can play the 4/5 (Scal, Perk, Sheed, KG, Shelden, Baby) and we almost beat Orlando and Dwight Howard without KG and last season’s Shelden (Powe). This shouldn’t be a priority, period.

OP, why do you keep asking
for backup centers? We have enough big men, what is this obsession? Perkins, Sheed, and even Baby in spot up, can play center. KG, Scal, and Shelden, and BBD can all play PF. I’d much rather get a PG or SF.

We need another back up center because....
…if Perk or Rasheed get injured long term we will not have a legit center on the bench period.
Baby and Sheldon are not centers though, Shelden with his long arms can perform spot duty at that position.
Yes if the C’s stay healthy they do not need another backup center.
But with Perks shoulder and Rasheeds age do we want to take the chance that they wont and see this years shot at a championship go down the drain because we did not have a backup center on the bench?
I don’t and want another insurance legit center on the bench and want to trade Scalabrine if possible for one.
Danny can find a cheap one in the mold of Pollard or Camby for a minimum contract.
All we need is a center with length and size to be able to defend the post and rebound thats all.
We can then trade T. Allen for a back up defending small forward that I think we need and if Hudson does not workout at the point we can always find and sign a veteran point guard (since they are a dime a dozen) later on in the season for a minimum contract to fill that need,

What if rondo or ray got injured. We’d be in much worse shape.

Trade for Big Man
I like the Country Boy from the Huggets but he just signed a nice contract since he had a good year in 08 he would be a good fit, heplays hard and thats what we need from the center spot!
