What players will be placed on the active roster and who will be on the inactive roster?
Ok we have the starting 5 rotation all set: Rondo, Allen, Perk, Garnett and Pierce.
I think the 5 man bench rotation will be: Hudson, House, Rasheed, Baby and Daniels.
I think most agree the last 2 active roster players will be:
Walker and Williams (Since its time to see what talent Walker has and Williams is our insurance back up power forward).
But what about the inactive roster who should be placed on it?
I think:
Tony Allen should be placed on it and we should try to trade his valuable expiring contract for a better player, like say a strong, defending small forward.
Scalabrine should be placed on the inactive roster and we should try to trade his valuable expiring contract for a back up center as insurance if Perk or Rasheed get injured.
Giddens should be cut and the money from his contract saved to apply it toward obtaing one of the players I mention above.
That"s who I think should be on the active and inactive roster, anybody have any thoughts on this issue?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Yes I agree fully
The starting 5 is set in stone.
Hudson needs to be put on the active roster since he can play the point for us.
House is our clear cut backup shooting guard.
Rasheed clea cut is our back up Center.
Baby is our clear cut backup power forward.
Daniels is our clear cut back up small forward.
So for those players should be placed on the active roster.
Williams of course was our other big man signing this summer and will be on the active roster.
Walker finally needs to be given a chance to see what he has and his toughness may come in handy against strong small forwards like Lebron etc. so should also be on the active roster
As for the inactive roster…..
Giddens should be kept on the inactive roster in case a injury to any of our backcourt or small forward players takes place.
Tony Allen and Scalabrine should be kept on it, but since they are both expendable and have valuable expiring contracts, Danny should try to trade them for another back up small forward who can defend, maybe score also and a legit back up center who can rebound and defend the low post in case Perk or Garnett get injured.
The scary part of this Celtics club is that though they are already deep, talented and stacked that they can become even more talented, deeper and stacked by trading Scal and TA for more talented players.
Lets hope Danny can make it happen!
Active/Inactive Roster
1) Giddens stays on inactive roster until the injuries to Walker/T. Allen are past. Then he gets shipped to Portland to work on his game.
2) Sweeney only supplants Giddens if there is major lingering concern about KG’s leg. He also could be brought back later in season after guaranteed salary deadline, and T. Allen/Walker injuries are past. Unlikely.
3) Hudson goes to Portland to work on his point guard experience. Unlikely to see time on active roster with Rondo, Daniels, and House able to fill in at point guard. Only activated early if T. Allen unable to play.
4) Walker may go to Portland as part of his re-hab, but returns to Boston if T. Allen continues to have injury problems.
5) T. Allen must seize opportunity presented by Walker’s injury to cement 10th/11th spot on active roster or he may be supplanted by Walker down the line.
After the Knicks game.........
Do you really want TA on the roster?
well said
the only thing I would add is that scal is a fan favorite, so i don’t know how boston would take it. Me personally, I can’t wait to see him go, every time i go to see the c’s play it is always the same spectacle, the guy comes on the floor and everyone goes crazy.
Nothing against the guy, but he just aint that good
Active/Inactive
2nd unit should be house, daniels, scal, baby and rasheed….then have williams and hudson as the 11 and 12. allen, walker and sweetney round out the 15. For the bottom 5, difficult to say who should be active/inactive…but we definitely don’t need walker, giddens and allen…would rather keep sweetney and hudson and let giddens try to find an opportunity elsewhere. If one of our bigs goes down, or either rondo or house, for 15-20 games, we will need to have sweetney and hudson. I can’t imagine a scenario where we would need giddens.
The roster should look like this.
The 5 man bench rotation needs to be:
Hudson (he looks like he can be a legit point guard for us),
House
Rasheed
Baby
Daniels
Last 2 on the bench
Williams
Walker (He needs to be on the active roster when he returns from his leg injury so we can see what talent this kid has and since he is more athletic and talented then Scal)
The 3 on the inactive roster should be:
Allen
Until he is traded for a more talented scoring-defensive small forward)
Scal
Since Walker is a more talented player then Scal and will be getting taking up Scals playing time, Scal has no not vital bench role and should be traded for a back up 3rd string center who can be insurance if Perk or Rasheed get injured.
Sweeney
He is a good big man insurance and his bulk may come in handy vs Shaq in the playoffs if the Celtics want to activate him
Walker (He needs to be on the active roster when he returns from his leg injury so we can see what talent this kid has and since he is more athletic and talented then Scal)
Unlike Scalabrine, Walker still has to demonstrate with consistency that he has at least one NBA-caliber skill (and no, “athleticism” is not a skill, in case you wondered).
I disagree ..
Walker does have some NBA skills.
Athleticism is one of them, along with the fact he is a strong defender, is a strong offensive finisher to the hoop and he can also run the floor.
He is raw but very talented, the only way we can see how good he is, is if Doc gives him minutes.
Lets hope Doc does play him when he gets back from his injury, so we can all find out what the kid has to offer on the court.
celtis active non active roster..
i think tony allen and giddens scal no come on man the guy has heart walker is hurt so i say walker stays so my guess it would be giddens and t allen ..
