Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

I think Rondo’s a lucky guy to be able to play with a guy like Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and KG, Rasheed Wallace.

I'm sure Rondo would agree with that assessment.

“We have different styles based on what each team needs,” Rondo said. “He has to do a lot more than what I have to do. My job is easy playing with these guys.”

Paul was pretty complimentary of Rondo, despite their altercation:
Like I said, man, he’s a great point guard. He has won an NBA championship, something I hope to achieve."

“Like I said, they are a great team,” he continued. “I watch them play on (NBA) League Pass. The way they communicate. KG? I could go on and on about him and the intensity he brings every night.”

Im a huge Rondo fan and feel as though a 10 mil deal is deserving. Regrading the Chris Paul v. Rondo ecitement, as PP, KG, and Doc all commented postgame, you really cannot compare Rondo and Chris Paul. Donnie Marshall perhaps made the most insightful comments when he explained that Rondo is perfect for this Celtics team and compliments them in a way that perhaps Chris Paul would not be able to…Yet on the flip side, perhaps Rondo would not be able to duplicate Paul’s night in and night out scoring if he were playing for the Hornets…Like KG said, “Apples and Oranges man…”

With that said, I watched the tape of the confrontation at the end of the game and it did appear that Rondo came out of nowhere to bump up into Paul as he was having an innocent postgame chat with Paul Pierce. Rondo is still young and discovering himself but that is no excuse for being a tough guy like that after a game is finished…Got at it hard during the game but leave it on the court when the final buzzer rings…

well you could actually see Rondo and Paul talking for the last twenty or so seconds of the game, after it was clear the Celtics had won. I don’t think Rondo just randomly went over and bumped Paul, this was clearly something that had been building up.

while i agree that there is no excuse for Rondo to bump CP

one has to wonder just what the heck Chris Paul was doing over there, jawing with Pierce as the Celtics were going into the Celtics locker room?

he averaged 14/9/9 through 14 playoff games without a sheed and kg…im not not saying, im jus saying

actually

it was 16.9/9.7/9.8, which further enforces what your not not saying, but just saying….

Good point – perhaps it was not random and was building up…There are reports of Perkins stoking the fire with comments Rondo made earlier… I like confidence and a fiery attitude but just think such post game antics are useless…After a game is over, champions dont need to talk…And re. his stats throughout postseason play…I agree, impressive. Yet, he is still not capable in my personal opinion, of leading an NBA team in scoring over the course of a full NBA season…that is until he develops a knock down jumpshot…and at that point, a league MVP would not be totally outside the realm of possibility.

unless Rondo were on a different team

(and he isn’t) he ain’t going to be leading any team in scoring even if he HAD a solid jump shot.

The Celtic’s offense is designed to go through Ray, Pierce, KG (and Sheed and Eddie).

To be an elite player, Rondo just needs to play like he did against Charlotte where, to paraphrase Doc, he was clearly the most dominant player on the floor – yet he only took 2 shots.

What we saw was apparently out of context

AP reports this: Chris Paul "walked toward the Boston locker room as the Celtics were filing off the court before Celtics’ assistant coaches stopped him; New Orleans coach Byron Scott came over to retrieve him. Rondo looked back but kept walking."

few more things..

-Byron scott, who played with Magic johnson, coached Jason kidd and now chris paul, called rondo a top 5 PG before the name, thought it was interesting
- all the people who put chris paul on some sort of pedestal, this guy isa cry baby, his game is as predictable as they come, he either looks for his shot or passs the ball off at at the end of the shotclock after overdribbling, and he has some empty stats last night, his performance was average, and his play was worse then his numbers indicates
- chris paul is playing with a walking double-double, a guy whos made the all star game 2 years in a row, and another former 2 time all star, and throwing them under the bus by saying “oh man i wish i has rondos teammates”
- Rondo has already proved himself without KG, and certainly sheed who he barely plays with at all

i digress

Are u kidding

Watch the game. Cp and rondo were yak’n all game. Back and forth. Cp showed his next few games that he isn’t all sweet and innocent. He isn’t just the nice guy everybod thinks. He pushed rondos buttons and rondo went score board on him! I’m glad he did. Cp isn’t better than rondo just different. One on one my $$ is on rondo. Paul may get steals but rondo plays D. Cp is a streaky shooter…and is under sized and has had an increasingly hard time finnishing inside. Although cp offense is more polished rondo can do any and everything cp does except shoot better. Rondo is oldschool. Cp is more the modern pg with a scorers mentality. I want more chatter and more thug from rondo. He and perk need to keep hanging out.

Enough is enough, I finally have to admit it. Rondo cannot carry this team to the future.
